Michael J Fox was apparently left unconscious while filming Marty's hanging scene. Fortunately, he was rescued just in time by Robert Zemeckis, who realised that Fox's acting looked TOO realistic.

I've heard the damage to his neck from this scene might be one of the causes of his Parkinson's developing fast

It's hard for me to see them as individual films, because the story is so well intertwined between all 3. I kinda like to see them as one, very long film.
I spliced them all together so it plays as a single 5 hour and ~20 min movie. Since there’s overlap between the movies it’s not too hard to do with the right software , just gotta creatively cut out the intro credits for 2 and 3 and it works great. The only weird thing is Jennifer changing but can’t help that
You were asking about Doc Brown's house. In the opening scene of the first one there are news paper clippings about the Brown mansion being destroyed by fire and another one about him selling the land to developers (presumably to finance developing the time machine)

This movie has always been my favorite in the trilogy. I love Doc and Clare's love story, the western elements, and the whole train scene is very impressive.
The filmmakers actually used a model train for the scene where the train is destroyed, but for the DeLorean they used an actual car.

Actually it was parts of a car, they welded the body panels together without it's frame, so essentially it's a hollowed out car to make it look real

Good spot with the foreshadowing for Marty using the bulletproof plate in the final duel, a clear benefit of shooting both films back to back.
It's quite unusual to hear someone say that the third film is the best one, since the first is pretty much unanimously picked as the strongest entry. Still a really fun film though, and a great ending to this trilogy where all three films are at least pretty damn good
the movie biff was watching in the 2nd was a fistful of dollars with clint eastwood and he does that same trick with bulletproof stove cover.
To your question about if there are more sequels, the answer is literally multiple times yes. There's a 90's cartoon, Universal Studios ride, IDW comic book series, Telltale video game and a 2015 short film, all of which are branching timelines taking place after this movie, emphasizing Doc's "Your future is what you make of it." So the franchise basically becomes a choose-your-own-adventure after the third movie, which I myself love.

As a kid growing in the 80s my favorite was Part 2 because I was amazed and in awe about the future depicted in the movie. As I grow older and re-watched this trilogy I started liking this third installment more and is now my favorite.
hard to pick a favorite. since this trilogy is unusual in that the 2nd starts exactly when the first one ends and the 3rd starts when the 2nd on eends it is literally an 8.5 hour movie start to finish. i love the entire thing! :)
I'm glad that you left in the 'Clint Eastwood, yella-belly' line. One of the funniest ones in the movie.
This is the best third movie to close the series. I love that it’s set in the old western and Doc looks awesome as blacksmith/inventor 😊 also I love that he found love in Clara and made a family with her ❤️❤️ because they seem like a great couple. Also Marty looks looks cool to ❤ plus his fight with Tannen was awesome because he brought the Steal Shield from the movie Biff was watching in number 2 and it’s funny in every Biff timeline he always ends up in manure 😄 Thanks again for doing this amazing trilogy and excited what you do next Sophie 😊😃😃
I love this movie. I haven't noticed for ages that the clock engine arrived in the background while they were talking about the speed of the train with the driver. And Clara was also waiting at the map scene after it.
The 3rd one is my second favorite. The first one is my fav of all of them but I do like this one a lot. My fav character is DOC 100%

the reason the bulletproof vest worked was it didn't contradict what marty saw. if he stops himself from going back he would still need to disappear in a lighning strike and send an aged looking letter via western union or you would have a paradox as he would not have gotten the info used to prevent it if he does so

One thing I love about it that I didn't realise until my lateste rewatch, is that this is the first time where their character growth drives the story.
Doc's death in 1885 was already a part of history when Marty saw it in 1955, he could've gone back to 1985 and nothing would've changed. But because they've been through so much together, particularly with trying to fix the dystopian 1985 with Biff's Tower, Marty takes it upon himself to go back and save him. Therefore, his arrival and meeting up with Doc as they try to investigate how to get back to the future is what leads Doc to meeting Clara, causing him to go through a character arc of his own. As he tries to put aside being in love for the first time in his life, for the sake of getting back to where he belongsl. This isn't just the typical mad scientist and young boy duo, they're reactive human beings in a story that showcases the eomtional effects of time travel.
Nothing beats the intensity of the lightning scene in pt1 but the train is epic too
22:26 : Doc went farther in the future of 2015 and presumably met with Future!Marty from there. He knew about Marty's kids and so probably what happened to Marty as well. He just didn't say anything to 1985!Marty because of the whole space-time continuum rule.

When you watch this film as an adult, you notice some conveniences. For example, Doc Brown is good enough at chemistry to make charcoal preparations that generate more heat for a specific time. I think he would be able to at least try to create some kind of biofuel to replace gasoline or adapt rockets to the Delorean so they don't need the train.
And Doc wasn't thinking logically when he thought about staying with Clara or leaving her. She was supposed to be dead. Leaving her in the past could cause some damage to the timeline. One way or another she would have to be removed from the timeline to maintain her integrity.
i don't think it was because he couldn't. he already had made the logs for his forge ready to go and a method of producing them if he needed to alter amounts slightly. gasoline or alternative or rigging up mr. fusion to drive the wheels just took longer than monday and even if they avoided bufford that day they would be on the run without the ability to leisurely work on it
@@johnpaullogan1365 Refining some basic or light gasoline from crude oil isn't really that difficult or time-consuming, but maybe Doc couldn't get the oil fast enough.
@@klopferator he'd have to get oil and the simple methods for refining gas leave lead which would quickly foul the plugs. the delorean hitting 88 was hard enough to believe as it was. then for refinement you would need a way to distill it and a catalyst and you would need to know how to get the catalyst and what catalyst was needed. a bit more complicated than treating logs with coal dust so i'm not entirely sure if doc would know that off the top of his head. i'm sure he could figure it out but it would take experimentation and he'd likely damage the car while doing so.
After being strung up, the hoarse sounding Marty was not just good acting by MJ, there was actually an error and he was legit being choked by the noose. He was almost unconscious before anyway realised.
the run for fun thing was funny, but reminds me of something when my older brother went to Interlochen (international music camp) in northern michigan. a high intensity music training camp durin ght summer. they had something called "forced fun" i was like "they have to force you to have fun?" huh
Every Back to the Future movie has a Pepsi product placement, the third movie has a Pepsi Cola tray holding the new extra time circuits on the hood of the Time Machine.

Great reaction Sophie like always. This trilogy is the best love every single movie, there are some fun facts about this one. During the scene where Mad Dog Tannen and his cronies are attempting to hang Marty after their disagreement in the saloon, Michael J Fox accidentally got hanged for real for a short time, making him pass out for a few moments. The producers asked Clint Eastwood for permission to use his name and he was happy and thrilled to say yes. The band ZZ Top were hanging around on the set of the film, and ended up portraying the band at the town party. There were some technical issues whilst filming and, whilst repairs were taking place to get them fixed, ZZ Top took requests from the cast and crew and gave a small concert. Thomas F Wilson, who plays Mad Dog Tannen, did all of his own horse riding and horse stunts during the film. Not only that, but he also lassoed Marty. When Marty arrives back in 1985, the Delorean is quickly destroyed by a freight train. When it came to arranging the scene to be filmed, the producers asked the driver of the freight train whether hitting the car would derail the train, as they didn’t want to cause too much carnage. The driver shrugged it off, saying, ‘I’ve been waiting my whole life to do this. And the set of the Old West Hill Valley was used 4 years earlier for Pale Rider - a western starring none other than Clint Eastwood, which hit cinemas in 1985. Keep up the good work.

i've seen many people complain about arty suddenly develop the issue with being called a coward in the 2nd movie when it wasn't in the 1st. but i assume the changes he made to his family in the 1st led to him developing that. just like why we don't have flying cars and hoverboards is they screwed something up in either 1885 or 1955 in the last 2 movies

One neat thing about this movie was seeing how certain scenes would play out, namely Marty being chased by Buford (sans skateboard) and the manure scene.
Having watched further, I actually see numerous scenes repeated in different ways.
The film also featured cameos from veteran Western film actors Pat Buttram, Harry Carey Jr. and Dub Taylor as three "saloon old timers". Doc shooting the rope around Marty's neck is straight out of the Clint Eastwood film The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. ZZ Top is the band at the dance...the guy who played the principal in the previous movies is now the sheriff....Clara getting off the train and going back into to town is right out of th e 1952 movie High Noon, 1952, a definite film Sophie should watch, among other older classics.
They did make a Saturday Morning Cartoon™ edutainment "sequel" series. It was pretty good, from what I recall.

I've always seen all three movies as a single story. So I can't pick one as my favourite. But I totally agree on there not being many movies that manage to draw an arc over several installments, then beautifully close the arc and then resist trying to make more money off of it with worse and worse sequels that don't really fit. BTTF always stood out to me as the "series" (if you can even call it that) that managed to close their arc most beautifully of all.
Sophie, all you have to do is convert a de Lorean into a time machine by adding a flux capacitor. Then you can go back in time to see your ancestors in action.
This trilogy is iconic! Michael J Fox when he had good health he was a great actor. He would steal the show! His comic timing and his screen presence was equal to many old time stars. Now my grandchildren watch the trilogy and they love it just as much as I do.
There have been many ideas and scripts etc. for a part 4. But thankfully, Spielberg and Zemeckis have said NO! ITS DONE! I hope it stays that way.

Very good reaction. And very legitimate critiques. Marty should’ve let history just play out. We all have to die somehow. And once bank fair, they could’ve figured out a way to simply head off Doc being shot. I get that they would not have wanted to kill Buford and a fear of further altering the timeline. But still.
I will add that taking Clara back with them to 1985 would have fit somewhat with the original timeline and lead to the ravine being named after her after all.

There is quite a bit of incest in the family if his great grandmother is also his mother's grandmother who married his paternal great grandfather.
Actually the gas issue is much worse than the movie implies, as unleaded wont be generally available till the 70/80s, I think. I would have though doc would have tried to make his own unleaded gasoline.

"There is no way you can take her with you" - actually, taking her with them would make the most sense, since in the original timeline she was supposed to be dead already, hence removing her from that timeline by bringing her along with the Doc is somewhat "fixing" it.
So after Amy Robbins travels back to 1893 London with H.G. Wells, a freak accident sends her back to America in 1885 where she changes her name to Clara and becomes a schoolteacher. (/headcanon)

I never heard about that. People either like all 3 movies or noone of them.
I love the first one, but almost might say I like the second one more due to the fact they go to the future and then back to 1955, as we get to witness the events from a different perspective. If I am in a mood for back to the future but only wanna watch one movie its usually the second one because of this, but sometimes I just watch the first one.

in the 50's the Japanese weren't known for making reliable technology yet...that didn't happen until later on. So what doc is saying is technically true from his own view. But marty comes from 1985 and in the 80's the Japanese are really good.

it was Clint Eastwood who first came up with the idea to use a metal vest to block a bullet in a cowboy film...and in Back to the future II you see Biff watching Clint do that in on his TV in his penthouse...while he is in the hottub.
I agree that the letters seems longer in the third movie. But to be fair, if you remember, the Western Union guy had it in a pouch. So that could’ve been more material in there.

the way they did the train explosion was they built a 1/4 scale model train of a real one,k and flung it off the cliff. they had cameras at every possible angle to catch it so that no matter what they would have the explosion
Another plothole is that if he did all this with 1955 Doc, wouldn't Doc in the Wild West know all of this and NOT ask him who dressed him? As he wore a bulletproof vest in the last one.

She's the one person they CAN take with them, because she's not supposed to exist! She was supposed to die in the ravine!
Other movies are paid homage in this franchise. Mary Steenburgen (Clara) was in a movie called Time After Time (1979). another time travel movie. And the time traveler (Malcolm McDowell) has to tell her the truth and she just thinks he's a liar and nuts. Mary and Malcolm were later married in real life.
incongruities like the letter are because the Bobs never had a guarantee that 3 would happen until the box-office from 2 came in.

The truth is, these back to the future movies don't stick to rules. Clara was supposed to die at the ravine, but before Marty went to 1885, Clara burried the doc. Marty even made mention of her history that every kid knew about. This is both fate control and history changing at the same time.
Personally, I don't believe in being able to change history. With time travel introduced, whatever the traveler does in the past should always have been reflected throughout history. The initial journey back to the past is fate catching up with time. That's how it was handled in Bill And Ted. Remember the keys just instantly turning up even though they hadn't stolen them yet?

My question is how did the Tannen line of genealogy continue through the Tannens' we saw in these movies, and a complete lack of women interested in them?
The first one is the best because it's the only one that can stand alone.
This one is my favorite.
And to think there was another CZcamsr that only watched the first 2 movies about 2 years ago, and never bothered to watch the 3rd movie because there was a "general opinion" that it was the worst movie. It's a great movie with good character development and an awesome conclusion to the trilogy, to think otherwise is heresy!
😄👍 There are a lot of things in this movie that make no sense whatsoever. First of all there is obviously no logical reason at all for his great great grandmother on his FATHER'S side to resemble his mother at all, let alone be a perfect clone of her. 🤔 Secondly, as someone who grew up in southern California in the 1970s and 1980s, I can assure you that there was never such a thing as a drive-in theater with a flat parking area, or with a middle isle without any speaker poles. They all had rows of berms that aimed the car up at the screen. In other words, it would normally be impossible to drive a car faster than 5 miles per hour in one, let alone 88. 😜 On an unrelated note, if it's of interest, in that scene where he's pointing the gun at himself in the mirror, he's quoting from two movies. "You Talkin' To Me?" is from "Taxi Driver" (1976) and "Go Ahead, Make My Day" is from "Sudden Impact" (1983) in which he is quoting (appropriately enough), Clint Eastwood.
SOPHIE: Good reaction video. However, it saddens me to see how young, vibrant, & healthy Michael J. Fox was and how severely debilitated he is now with Parkinson's Disease. It makes me wish you'd do a reaction video of the movie, Dave, wherein Michael plays a more serious role. The movie, Dave, was a sleeper & much better than it got credit for.

thanks fir the video ! hope you find your true love in 2024...they need to make good movies like this , they made good movies that people liked in the 80's and 90's with no political agenda, where people fall in love, they dont turn a character gay, they have normal relationships that everyone can relate to, and thats why everyone likes these movies they dont ve an agenda , they stick to good ORIGIUNAL stories ,
