Your not alone. I'm in my 40s and 4 years ago I decided to learn. I had never ridden any kind of motorcycle before in my life. My husband has ride motorcycles since he was young and he helped me learn. I remember making lots of mistakes at first and my husband getting frustrated with me. Also remember my arms being really tired after longer rides from being so tense. 4 years later we are leaving on a trip to Tennessee from Michigan in a couple weeks. Don't give up. You'll get there. Just have to keep practicing.

Definitely riding dirt bikes helps! I started at 12 yo. when I got my first big bike 4 years ago I wasn't used to the weight and almost ran off the road! Keep learning and go at your own pace.

Same, I never rode anything when I was younger, saw motorcycles on tv and thought "that looks like fun". The yellow line into traffic thing sort of sounds like target fixation. Target fixation is when an individual becomes so focused on an observed object that they inadvertently increase their risk of colliding with the object. In other words while your riding, you see a hazard and focus on that alone and than head straight for it. My instructor told our class, you look where you want the bike to go and that's where it will go. So stay calm, breath and look where you want the bike to go and it will follow. Keep practicing and you'll be riding like a pro in no time.

Thanks for all the advice!! I definitely think I need to look farther out on curves and that will improve my riding. Practice practice practice :)
