Destination Maps geographically show the movement of information or objects from one location to another and their amount. Typically Destination Maps are used to show the migration data of people, animals, and products. Its thickness represents the magnitude or amount of movement in a single flow line. This helps to show how migration is distributed geographically.
Destination Maps are drawn from the point of origin and branch out their "flow lines." Arrows can be used to show direction, or if the movement is incoming or outgoing. Without arrows can be used to represent trade going back-and-forth. Merging/bundling flow lines together and avoiding crossovers can help to reduce visual clutter on the map.

Hey, great video and kudos on going the extra mile to make it look nicer! One question is, if I'd like to see labels of the cities/airports. I thought dragging a city(the name of the dimension in my workbook) onto the label field would do it. But it makes the lines disappear. And I tried a few other workarounds but in vain. One other work around made all the end points have the label of the origin city for eg all the lines ended with jfk. This probably was because of the city join! Could you please post a solution to add labels? Thanks in Advance!!!

      Hi Lucie,
Thanks for adding to this thread.
This will be quite complicated to complete.
You will need to look at creating the below distance calculation for the start locations - end locations.
      Distance in KM:
      ACOS(COS(RADIANS(90-[Focal Lat])) *COS(RADIANS(90-[Latitude])) +SIN(RADIANS(90-[Focal Lat])) *SIN(RADIANS(90-[Latitude])) *COS(RADIANS([Focal Long]-[Longitude]))) *6371
Please see the below link for reference:

      Hope this helps.

I still don't get it. I have read so many guides and seen so many videos. The problem is that they all use the same huge database. I need to create my own database. Not a single video shows any of that for some weird reason, not even the official guide. So if you are starting out there is basically no guides for you at all and this is the case with some many programs. They just assume you are a power user already who have made similar, but not exactly the same paths.

      Hi Craig,
      Thanks for your inquiry.
When looking at flights going through 3 locations, do you have an unique id for your flight as well as a route order for each flight e.g. 1,2,3?
Tableau created a similar visual for a tube map, you can see how they linked multiples destinations to each line:
