THE VIOLENCE // LYRICS
Open up, drink it in, don’t ask too many questions
Become the vessel for the shame they feed you through suggestion
There’s a rumor on the breeze
Secrets that bring you to your knees
We made the problem, we are the poison
Close your eyes, surrender your beliefs to them for holding
Wait patiently to hear what ever changing lines are showing
There’s a whisper on the wind
Eventual storm that’s rolling in
They have the answers, cure for cancer
We’ve become, that we’ve become
But all they wanted was violence
To plant their seeds and divide us
If they want the worst that’s inside us
Bring on the violence
Back and forth, daily take apart what you’ve been building
Everything you have is to be fed into the system
There’s a force out pushing fear, a deafening silence drawing near
Sit absorb it, guess we’ve been toxic all along
All they wanted was violence
To plant their seeds and divide us
If they want the worst that’s inside us
Bring on the violence
I’m on the edge and I’m not alone
Remember this is what you asked for
All you wanted was violence
To plant your seeds and divide us
You want the worst that’s inside us
Well bring on the violence, the violence
We’ll fall before you divide us
If you want the worst that’s inside us
Bring on the violence

Hello my name and Lucas, I am 26 years old, I am Brazilian and I come through a brief text to thank the band that saved me, a few years ago I had depression and panic syndrome, losing my father and just sinking to suicide, until I met the band that I have a huge gratitude that saved me, today I don't listen as before, but today I listen and cry, because I remember a past that I had and would never think of in the present that I am today, a band that brought music for my life, thank you, thank you.

First things first
I'ma say all the words inside my head
I'm fired up and tired of the way that things have been, oh-ooh
The way that things have been, oh-ooh
Second things second
Don't you tell me what you think that I could be
I'm the one at the sail, I'm the master of my sea, oh-ooh
The master of my sea, oh-ooh
I was broken from a young age
Taken my sulking to the masses
Writing my poems for the few
That look to me, took to me, shook to me, feeling me
Singing from heartache from the pain
Taking my message from the veins
Speaking my lesson from the brain
Seeing the beauty through the...
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Pain!
You break me down and build me up, believer, believer
Pain!
Oh, let the bullets fly, oh let them rain
My life, my love, my drive, it came from...
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Third things third
Send a prayer to the ones up above
All the hate that you've heard
has turned your spirit to a dove, oh-ooh
Your spirit up above, oh-ooh
I was choking in the crowd
Building my rain up in the cloud
Falling like ashes to the ground
Hoping my feelings, they would drown
But they never did, ever lived, ebbing and flowing
Inhibited, limited
Till it broke open and rained down
And rained down like...
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Pain!
You break me down and build me up, believer, believer
Pain!
Oh, let the bullets fly, oh let them rain
My life, my love, my drive, it came from...
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Last things last
By the grace of the fire and the flame
You're the face of the future, the blood in my veins, oh-ooh
The blood in my veins, oh-ooh
But they never did, ever lived, ebbing and flowing
Inhibited, limited
Till it broke open and rained down
And rained down like...
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Pain!
You break me down and build me up, believer, believer
Pain!
Oh, let the bullets fly, oh let them rain

If AA were to be a bit experimental or creative with something - then that's fine. Moving On is a very good song that doesn't sound like AA. This is just We Are Harlot version 2 - basic hard rock with little originality to it.
@@plantico2597 I dont recall it sounding like We Are Harlot at all. Just because its more rock based it doesn't mean they suck. I do think they should leave a heavier track for us on the album but they are on an amazing track and aren't releasing the same track twice like Wage War.
Yeah im sick of hearing people complain. I like both their old stuff and new stuff

Same here. All bands change. And I've been a fan since 2009. I loved their self title album, all the song show the message behind Danny and just the world in general. And I don't think people realize it.
@@jamesfalcon2900 did someone hurt you as a child?
Just saw them play in NYC last Sunday, they are awesome live and their new stuff kicks ass. They still play their old stuff live so it's not like it's dead. I feel like people need to stop clinging to the past like old people and learn to enjoy change cause that's what life is about.
All i wanted was violence of the old songs :')
Panda Puto agree! Need the old shit
The oldies are still there, as well as a stupid saturation of their classic sound. I loved their first couple CDs, but they aren't the same fucked up 20 year olds anymore.
I waited too long for this... I need the reckless and relentless theme... this is FUCKING POP
So listen to it bro. Keep the old things and learn the new ones.
@@brittanyperez2243 It seems that you don't know what POP is. This is still metal. And to be honest, a fokking great evolution from what they was. Asking Alexandria: Matures and evolves
Everyone: *Wait, that's illegal*
This should be top comment lol
But you lose a fuck ton of fans when you decide you want to change your sound. Maturing and evolvong is fine, but to completwly change your sound for fame and the record labels is bullshit. This song is terrible regardless of who is performing it.

I don't buy it and neither do the other fans that dislike their new music.
aa miw1999 they did mature and evolve. How can you not after 10 years? You think they want to make music for emo teenagers forever? 😂 They’re artists; they’re allowed to evolve and don’t have to explain how or why they did. Martin Scorsese always made mob movies.. he didn’t owe anyone some explanation to make Hugo or Shutter Island. The guy loves making movies and he’s allowed to make different shit. So is AA. I don't know what y'all complaining about. I really like this song, it's catchy and still heavier than most of the stuff out there. Stop comparing new songs with old ones, every band ALWAYS changes in some ways. If you don't like their new style go listen to their old songs or to the bands you call heavier than AA now. AA gave us a lot of good songs, if they need a break from heavier stuff now or want to change completely because they matured or maybe just want to try out something *different* after - what is it, more than 10 years? -, I thing we should be happy for them and support them.
Can we at least just all agree that this video is SICK af?

Bring on the violins, the VIOLINS!!
I cant find a song I dislike on the album. Its a different sound but Danny has his soul back in the music, his voice is telling quite the story, the band has some great riffs that compliment the vocals in a crazy way. GREAT JOB GUY'S
Was anybody else expecting something much heavier with the name violence?
Definitely a majority of us did. Plus they mentioned R&R and FDTD albums with a message saying this is what all of you been waiting for. Unfortunately it is a total let down for me
Not to beat a dead horse but man, they’ve really sold out haven’t they? Clearly been fed the “hard rock formula” that plays on octane radio. No passion, no soul, none of the raw emotion that made AA what they were. This isn’t just about it not being heavy, but their heavy music had all those elements
Anthony Flores I see your point, especially about their first album. I feel like Reckless and Relentless was veiled as “we’re having fun partying our brains out” but actually was a cry for help considering the dark places they were all in. And then the opening track on “From Death to Destiny” is an admission of those dark places they were in and the fact that everything was NOT all right and the partying was having a detrimental effect on them and crescendoed at the infamous Seattle gig. I think a lot of the music on R&R and FD2D definitely had some soul to it. This song just feels like a formulaic hard rock song. Formulaic song structure, formulaic song lyrics, formulaic everything.
AMAZING! Get some Q tips before you listen. They are amazing. Go see them LIVE! Best show ive seen in a long time.

Love how no one and understand music is all about evolving and trying new things. That's exactly what they are doing. That's what every single artist and band is doing nowadays. Everyone is evolving. Ain't nothing wrong with trying something new or going down a new path.
Exactly, it s boring to do the same thing for so many years, they just want to try new stuff and people just don t get itttt. plus, danny is getting oldd, he can t just scream 24/7
Andra but this isn’t new, this the same thing all of the arena radio rock bands have done already, also Danny is barely fucking 30 man, Corey Taylor still screams and he’s in his 40s, Oliver Sykes still screams live and bmth is pop rock now, Jonathan Davis is pushing 50 and still does it, sooooooo
Everyone who don't like dis song and auto proclaim themselves as true AA fans, aren't true fans of Asking Alexandria.
Love the concept for this video.
The chorus bangs, Danny's vocals are amazing and the music video is incredible.
His vocals are crappy
@@covid-mx9ng sorry that you dont wanna hear actually good vocals just screams i personally thing asking got alot better from the their self titled album
Nice main riff. Definitely hoping for some interesting heavy hitters on the album if possible but this is still good for hard rock!
The main riff is pretty much the same as Jaden Smith's Watch Me.
@@ShellyABelly7 You beat me to it. Danny has ruined this band. They slowed down to match his energy and it's ruined them.
Adoring Fan he tried doing the old shit with (most of) the screams live, it sounded good towards the beginning of the resurrection tour, but clearly the stamina to perform screams AND cleans top notch isn’t there anymore. He stopped doing screams live within the last year or so and it’s paid off. If saving Danny’s releasing this kind of music, which in my opinion is still good music, then I’m here for it.
*if saving Danny’s voice
@@aaronsteinman4214 Amen. People are acting as if heavy music is the only form of "good music."
I love their sound. The last album with "Into the fire" is the shit. It's great guys keep it up!
Absolute banger of a song lads! 👍👍✌️🤘❤️
@2:49 Legit thought it was a new Fall Out Boy song.
Distant Apparition holy shit that sounds like the post chorus of bang the doldrums
I literally just posted that I'm there Instagram 😂😂
Old Danny's scream back. Imagine Dragons vibes.
Strange mixture, but I really love it. I don't understand the comments. This song is like a fresh air. THANKS AA.
Stop hating on their song.. they are trying and succeeding in doing something they love doing.. how would you feel if someone hated on your stuff for doing something you love? I would enjoy it
Ok, but AA’s names in the credits are absolutely priceless. Ben’s the only one that got a halfway normal name
Idk how I feel about most of the song but the chorus is great
I was expecting some heavy stuff like the old albums. I don't know why ._.
Same
Laura R same bruh
this is just one song, if its an album wait to judge till the others are out
Me too
Lol it'll all be garbage. SAUS IS DEAD JUST LIKE THIS BAND.
RIP GOOD MUSIC.
This song is growing on me. I didn't like it the first few times I listened to it, but now it is a masterpiece.
Really Nice i Love it
