    I went and test rode the 650. Very comfortable and does what it says on the box. Lovely finish on the one I rode. I think it would be a great entry level cruiser for those with ducks disease or wanting manageable power delivery. Fortnine did a test of factory oil on all the major brands. Royal Enfield had one cleanest results. I had a grand time riding an 80's 500cc in North India.

    loved your very informative and respectful video of the Royal Enfield Bikes, I am 76 years old but I still am able to manage a motorcycle and I am really thinking of getting the RE 350 because it is a truly elegant-looking Bike. I retired from riding Bigger Bikes because of my years of age but I am sure I will be happy with the supernova 350.

    Hi there Exmouth !
    I'd say that is a very accurate assessment.
    As we discussed previously, I don't really see the Super Meteor as an upgrade to the Meteor, it is a different bike for a different kind of purpose. Just in the same style.
    As you know, the 350 is enough for me and that thumper engine just has more character than the rather bland RE twin. The 350 even sounds better by a fair margin IMO.
    I'd say that if the 350 isn't fast enough for your type of riding but you like the idea of one, then the Super Meteor is definitely worth looking into.
    When you consider the relative prices of the base versions of both bikes, it is still mildly shocking to me that the Super Meteor is almost twice the price of the Meteor.
    I think RE must be making an absolute killing with the Super Meteor. I would like to see it 500-750 quid cheaper personally. Then I could possibly make an argument for one.
    But as I concluded for myself, it's a lot of extra money for little to no benefit for my use case. If the price difference was less extreme, I might decide that the bigger bike might be more versatile. But the price difference just killed it as an option for me.
    Good work there Exmouth, you were fortunate to have both bikes at the same time and I'm sure that this video will be popular and helpful to many 👍🏻
    Take care matey, love to the crew !

      Hi Garry, as you know I also have a Meteor, with which I am 90% satisfied. If it had at least 10 more horsepower I would be 99.9% satisfied. The problem, for me, is uphill routes, when you happen to want (or have to) overtake a long truck: either stay behind and resign yourself or risk your life. So I'm thinking of upgrading to a Super, and here in Italy you can already find quite a few, from 2023 and with very low mileage (3/5,000 km) at prices ranging from 5800 to 6300 euros, not bad, I'd say! Cheers Garry&Ruby!

    • @economicalrides
      @economicalrides Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@corradospagnuolo614 Hi Corrado !
      Yes, I get that. I'm firmly in the "stay behind" category, should I find myself in that situation but admittedly you may find yourself in that situation more often than I do !
      If you can get a nearly new Super Meteor for under €6000, that's the sort of price where it becomes hard to resist.
      As you know from the Meteor. A bike with only 5000km on it is not going to have any issues at all. You also have 2 years warranty still to go, so you have some security there too ( just make sure that the bike has its full service history and that the warranty is still valid ).
      I think the SM is somewhat overpriced when new, so buying second-hand seems like a shrewd move Corrado !
      €6000 is what I would expect to pay for a new one but unfortunately RE went in at over €7000.
      If you can get a "nearly new" one for €6000, that sounds like proper value to me.
      Good luck deciding and keep me updated !
      Give Arthur a cuddle from me !
      Cheers Corrado,
      Garry & Ruby

      @@quinnpeaksbikerI own a 350 which is good for my commute and local rides. If you are after one there are plenty on the second hand market for less than £3k which is a good saving on new . The suspension can be improved with a set of Hagon shocks but mine has worn in and is now ok . The main problem with the 350 is that though it can do 70-75 it isn’t really a motorway bike but what do you expect from 20hp . The spares backup at this moment can be patchy as Royal Enfield now directly import the bikes and had not quite got everything in place when they got rid of the last distributor.

    Like you said I think it comes down to what people are looking for. The 650 is going to be a bit better at long distance perhaps even some touring around the UK etc, but the 350 will be lighter, easy to use and move around etc.
    Both bikes do look the business, Royal Enfield know how to make a good looking bike that's for sure.
    What's interesting is that for me after watching this is that I don't think that 650 is miles better than the 350, yes it's got some cleaner edges and upgraded bit and bobs, but that 350 is still very much in the discussion which is already a victory for it alone in my opinion.

    I'm on my second Meteor 350 the first being damaged in a RTA. I agree with your analysis and whilst the 650 is a good bike when I tried one I felt something was missing. It might just be the bike's personal charm. The 350 is great fun on the country roads locally. It's comfy for my pillion, who didn't like the Interceptor. Fuel economy is nearly as good as my wife's little scooter. Its uncomplicated , does have charm but is a tad underpowered for dual carriageways with two up. Therefore it's personal choice and either bike should be seriously considered.

    • @exeterrider
      @exeterrider  Před 11 měsíci +1

      It would be an addition. The NC is a keeper because it does it all and the frunk means I can go to events and have loads of storage. I dont feel for what I do that I owuld need anything bigger. The Meteor would be used more though because often I can't be bothered to hump the NC, beemer or other bikes I have at the time around, but the Meteor is so easy to pull out, super comfy and practical.
      I know what you mean by needing/wanting more opph ,but bigger means heavier which is a pain. It's not an easy one to manage, but for me keeping the NC then having a Meteor is a good mix personally. Also Ive never known a bike my kids (certainly Jed 14) just can't get enough of the Meteor.

So disappointingly haven’t bought one, then I see some reliability niggles and rust on some. Everyone ( well most)is waxing lyrical about the brand and their stand at nec was incredible put rest to shame except suzuki, I cant help think in a few yrs the chinese will be at the forefront.

      Yeap, RE isn't for you then mate, and thats OK. You like bikes with more power and RE don't offer the power you want .
      I'm not so sure still about Chinese bikes, they still have a lot to put right like parts availability etc, then again all brands do I think.
      You really need a couple hours to settle into the RE thing I think.....it took me that to settle into the Classic 500 Trials,but my god ,once I did,it changed my biking life!
      Yes finish wise RE are not like the Japenese brands ,and yes there will be bits that rust in time, but like for example, Japanese powdercoated exhausts and manifolds etc always decay,its almost normal....
      I really like the fact that when something goes wrong on a RE, that its just simple spanner work to put it right....and not silly money for spares.
      Just need a bit more time on one or perhaps its not for you. Also if for example , if you don't like the look of the 350 or 650 Meteor then again ,its not your bag and thats OK mate.
      Thanks for watching another one of my vids : )

      RE will not be for everyone. In the same way as HD isn’t. What people see as hype I think is a reaction against the media portrayal of the older products. Reliability? You can find lots of issues with all brands. A premium German bike I was riding until 2022 had irritating vibrations mid range, the one previous to that did it’s wheel bearings, had all sorts of electrical quirks and simply didn’t turn in as well as it’s sister bike bought at the same time.

    I have a Meteor as an interim measure until the Super Meteor owners start throwing them up for sale. In addition I've noticed that I love to just go riding anytime anywhere yet most of my mates are only interested in going out if it involves riding on major roads and motorways at speed and not fun riding anymore because their bike is just too heavy. The Meteor has not disappointed me in anyway at all and it is marginal not to change bikes 👍

    Hi, I’ve got the 350 about a year now “an love it” test rode the 650 a couple a month’s ago and was a little disappointed, harsh rear suspension, lousy steering lock an why make a 650 with reasonable grunt an give it six gears when five are more then adequate. I don’t wanna be doing a Fred Astaire on the gear leaver if I’m just going to cruise. For the younger generation Fred Astaire equals Micheal Flatly 🤭🤭

    I am interested in the beneli 400 due to its bigger engine.I have also seen your review on it. Regarding RE 350 I was worried about 350 not holding out well on motorway. I have about 20 mins on motorway in traffic that normally goes between 60 to 75mph. I'm guessing the RE 350 would cope up to 70mph?

    • @exeterrider
      @exeterrider  Před 7 měsíci +2

      The 350 is a much better bike than the 400 hands down. The 350 holds 70moh no problem... Stick with RE would be my advice👍🍻

    I remember you asked me what kind of riding I wanted to do. I said I wanted to go exploring. The 350 would do me 😊 Plus, I should never be allowed on a fast bike, I know I can't be trusted. (Puts Diavel to the back of the garage, next to the black and gold 'busa and the Panigale 😂😂😂😂😈)

      You read into this wrong, check out my full review and you will see on the segment where in on the motorway that I say I can do many miles on it..... My point is with that segment is most people mention to me they don't want to not be rescrited to 72mph when on the motorway... They want a bit more.... Again it dosent bother me.
      Chill out dude
