In this video, Karen demonstrates how to create and torch fire a fine silver ring using Phoenix Torch Fireable Clay™. Before creating this video, Karen wore a Phoenix torch fired ring she made every single day for 14 months to verify the integrity and strength of this clay after such every day wear and tear. Generally, we recommend kiln firing rings for optimal strength and sintering; however, Phoenix shows great strength after torch firing! She sets a 5mm round gemstone in this ring. It is not recommended to torch fire a stone any larger than 5mm due to possible thermal shock and cracking.

Thanks Karen great video. I Love the idea of adding a second texture mat when using an edge texture. I run into this all the time. Also great stone setting method it is clay saving which I always like.

Beautiful outcome. As the stone doesn't shrink but the band reduces by 2 sizes or more, what stops the setting from forming cracks around the stone?

Hello, Karen uses a precision hole punch/stone setting punch that is 3mm larger than the stone for the setting to account for shrinkage around the stone. We recommend checking out our video on how to use stone setting punches here: cooltools.us/collections/how-to-use-stone-setting-punches. Hope this helps clarify!

Yes, you can seal it with something like Renaissance Wax or even powder coating!

    Hi Karen!

Hello, Phoenix shrinks 15-20%. When creating a ring, you'll want to size up 2.5 sizes. If you are a size 6, you'd want to size it at 8.5 before firing. Yes, of course you can make a cluster of roses and attach on top of the ring, this would be lovely! Hope this helps!
