- If you're tired of not having pockets, here's an easy way to add inseam pockets to almost all your clothes! This can be done to dresses, pants, jackets, joggers, hoodies. Add extra pockets where ever you like. If your garment doesn't have a side seam you can create one if it's a bit too big for you.

I recently added side seam pockets to a dress that I was avoiding wearing due to the lack of pockets. Now I wear it a lot. Instead of drawing a pocket around my hand I just traced one from a dress that did have pockets. I also added a couple of extra security features- a mini pocket slightly bigger than a credit card inside each pocket plus a little loop made out of hem tape that I can clip keys to.
I am a self taught seamstress and after almost 10 years I just recently learned how to make pockets I was always so afraid to because I thought it was too hard it’s super easy 🤣. Thanks for the video ❤️

I just started trying to sew with a machine about a year ago (I was already pretty good at hand sewing), so when I decided to add pockets to some pants, I cheated and traced the pocket from another pair of pants onto the fabric. 😆 The whole process was a lot easier than I originally thought!
The secret pocket is a bad ass bonus. I had a pair of pants that had that and change wou.d always find its way in there. I liked it!😊 great tutorial! Subscribed.

I know what you mean about the contrast of hard and soft, I'm a big fan of the late Alexander McQueen because of that. Some of his designs were intense, however, there are some of his pieces I absolutely love; I love that one of his things he shared was when he designed for women, he imagined his clothes being like armor but with style, like for the strong spirit of women; that always stood out to me. Anyways that's enough on my rant, love your designs!!! 😆

Love pockets and thank you. I would add reinforcements at the top and bottom of the pocket opening though. those stress points sometimes open up.

Your “little top stitch” after you sew each side of the pocket in is called an understitch😀 and is useful in necklines and other seams look up options.
Tthamk u for this video. I also thrifted a jumper that i really liked I only problem it didn't have pockets. I never have added pockets to anything. I thought surely I can add pockets to the jumper. Has to be easy. Your video gave me more confidence. Seems easy, I can do it bcuz of you explaining the process. Thanks..

This was a great tutorial. I think once I do this a couple of times it will become second nature to add IPs to anything. It looks a little confusing at first but I was able to keep up.

Hello! Great video. Maybe this was asked and answered already, but if not, here goes. I am adding pockets with an obvious right and wrong side to the fabric. Do I pin the pockets rights sides to right sides? Just want to avoid having to rip things out if I get it wrong. Thanks a bunch!
Right side to right side so that when you flip the pocket inside you’ll see only the right side.
Thanks for the easy tutorial, however there's no mention of left or right? Does it matter? Every other detail was covered down to ironing.... 🤪🤪🤪😳😳😳😳
what sort of stitch did you use for the in seam?
Just a straight stitch. The only different one was when I served the edges of the pocket. You can also use an overcast stitch on a regular sewing machine.

I want to add pockets to my thin coats and now I have a reason to buy a sewing machine.
