That is my constant worry on mine as when the wind blows the flames get very close to the wood. I even had to exchange my fire ring for a smaller diameter ring. Curious if this was an issue for you as well. I chose not to go the “cement top“ route cause I ain’t that skilled LOL. Great build!

    Be very cautious in building this. Liquid Propane Gas is heavier than air so the potential of it building up inside the barrel without adequate ventilation could result in an explosion causing severe burns or even death. By placing a pan and burner directly over the top of the barrel will not allow enough air flow through the barrel interior. With any propane fire pit, please remember to add ventilation points to prevent catastrophic events from taking place and seek qualified professionals for advice or installation.

    • @inspiringbuilds
      @inspiringbuilds  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for watching! I’d recommend doing a clearance height test by installing the fittings on the pan and hold it over the propane tank to get the minimum required height. As long as you have clearance between the propane tank you’re good. You can then take the height minus the thickness of the table to determine your barrel height.

    • @inspiringbuilds
      @inspiringbuilds  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you! I appreciate you watching and welcome to the channel. The tank can be placed inside without a door access. The weight of the rocks in the pan doesn’t allow the table to move and can be picked up and the tank replaced. Good luck with your build. 👍

      Welcome to the channel and thank you for watching. The propane was inside the barrel, but I built a side table and put the propane tank inside there. 👍🏼

    What was your reason for moving the propane tank?

    • @inspiringbuilds
      @inspiringbuilds  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Hayden, thanks for watching! I built a side table and already had a hose that would reach it so I moved it under the side table. It made me feel a little more comfortable having the propane tank further away and it’s easier to swap out for me, but the setup in the barrel works great as well following the techniques shown in the video. Good luck on your build and stay tuned for more. 👍🏼

      Thanks for watching. I didn’t forget, but focused on the whiskey barrel fire pit for this build. Do you have a favorite tiki torch?

    In video you said you stored propane tank in a side table. Can you put it in the barrel?

      Hi Aaron, welcome to the family and yes you can put it in the barrel. I wouldn’t cut down as far on the barrel. If you place it in the barrel ensure to drill holes for oxygen as shown. Let me know if you need anything. 👍🏼

    Holy cow, $3k? At that price it's definitely better to build one yourself.

    Did you seriously use a pressed board table top? That thing is gonna turn into a hunk of junk after a couple rain storms. Sure it was quicker and cheaper but you definitely just moved your cost and time spent building on to another day. I hate doing things twice. 😩

      Hi Dan, good name and thanks for watching. I was concerned with the same and purchased the cover as I referred to. I’ve used it 50+ times in the past 1.5 years with countless rain storms and it still looks the same as when I installed it. 👍
