This is the opening animation for the anime Anime Sanjuushi (The Three Musketeers). This comes from a 16mm print of an episode which was scanned at 4K resolution. The colors were very good and only some minor color adjustments were done in-scan. It was cropped and encoded for CZcams, but other than that, the opening is presented here in it's natural state.

The French opening was a cover of the original? I thought back in the day they made original songs, like the one they made for Saint Seiya (Los Caballeros del Zodiaco), I know it because the original Spanish opening was a cover of the French version

as for the latest remastered versions, at least they rescanned the film reels in hd, but unfortunately they cropped it into 16:9. luckily, this user just uploaded the hd snyder cut
edit: at least the japanese text positioned for 16:9

there was actually a more recent one (well, 2007) - shoujo cossette, based on les miserables. i couldn't find the full series but i watched one episode and thought it was pretty good

@@liberty1212 that was part of the World Masterpiece Theater series, or at least the series revival, the original WMT anime lasted from 1969 to 1997 and they adapted stories like Heidi, girl of the Alps (very popular in many countries), 3000 Leagues in Search of Mother (also known as Marco), Anne of Green Gables and The Story of the Trapp Family Singers (The Sound of Music). After Les Misérables: Shōjo Cossette, Nippon Animation made two more series, Porphy no Nagai Tabi (based on The Orphans of Simitra) and Konnichiwa Anne: Before Green Gables

I'm rewatching this now, it's a decent anime, also I'm a fan of Three Musketeers. My only gripe is how in the 2nd season Milady became a villain again.
