That's a pretty slick tip. Kind of reminds me of the wiggler to find center on a drill press. Also, in the builder world, 1/256" of an inch is also known as 4 thousands of an inch or .004" on a Caliper.
An interesting way of achieving the perfect fit, but you really don't want a super snug fit otherwise you risk squeezing all the glue out or at the very least, having less than optimal coverage because of excessive squeeze out. Accuracy is key, to be sure, but 1/128" or 1/256" is literally insane for woodworking.
I don’t often cut half-lap joints, but when I do they sure as hell don’t need to be insanely accurate. Also, yeah. You didn’t really show us anything you just talked about it. AND . . . you talked about sanding in regards to the depth of a cut. You’re not sanding the mating surfaces of your lap joint, are you?
Is it just me? WHERE THE HELL IS THE HALF LAP??? Show your completed joint!!!
Not the half lap I ever learned or envision.
Ok I'll be sure to do a follow up. One with actual tools on. For this I simply wanted to have the video be short.

I am more confused than a baby racconn !
I didn't know they were inherently confused. I'll try and do a fun video on it with actual machines running. 😆

I'm with you. But when I need it to be super accurate I'm glad I have a system down.

I usually do yes very light passes to keep everything flat.
You know that N95 mask is pretty useless with a full beard.
Even more useless to wear it for an intro to a video when you weren’t actually making dust before. Crystal clear air in that picture.
Not completely but yes. I'm thinking about building a contained helmet.
