  • This video is a build in real time. I get a ton of questions on "How long does this take to make?" and this pretty simple lantern doesn't take very long at all. Make one of these for only a few dollars the lantern sells for $15 and each face sells for about 10 (3 for 25) in my area. These are made from cedar and are safe to use outdoors. Great for holidays like Halloween or Christmas, but would also work for 4th of July and valentine's day.
    CUT LIST
    All pieces are 5.25 wide
    2 @ 8" long - rip one in two (2.5")
    2 @ 6.75" long
    1 @ 5.25" long
    2 @ 4" long - rip one in two (2.5")

I really like the friction fit face. I can see myself using this for inspiration for a few different faces. Maybe an Egg for Easter and a bell to increase the options for Christmas, a Shamrock for St. Patty's Day.... I am running with this now. Thank You !!

That was very informative! I've been doing similar ones for a Christmas Bazaar in my area but your way seems so much easier! The only alteration I'd consider doing for mine would be to use a forstner bit to drill a 1 1/2" hole in the base spacer inside the lantern so you can put in a tea light without it sliding around.

Great addition I think I'll do the same. I would put it in about 0.25"

Thanks, this is a simple project but will look great for the holidays! Do you have the cut list? I did not see it in the description.

Make them as needed like this. Make a handful of faces. You can store them yourself or use them yourself until they sell. It would also have people see them around your house or yard. Then when the season comes up again try again.
      Don't give up

Cut list needs edited. Only need one 4" board.
