Your remark about curators and academics learning valuable things from the practical side of swordmaking really resonates with me. When I was studying Homeric armor in university, I was always surprised by what things were so obvious to me as a metalworker that scholarship deemed unknowable. This is such valuable work! Thank you for being so willing to share your expertise!

I can't begin to tell you how many times I've watched your first video Mr. Burridge. It's fascinating stuff and you have a great voice to boot! I keep trying to think of some way to convince the missus that we need a good replica Ewart Park sword hanging over the mantle. :)

I admire your respect for the original craftsmen and objects, all too often modern makers seem to dismiss orignial work "improving" upon their designs and correcting their "mistakes". Like you have said, they crafted and evolved these designs over millenia and every feature is there for a reason. Thanks again for this indepth video!

Modern interpretation or modifications to a sword of any style isn't any different than the variations of ancient swords found. In many instances a particular region would have competing makers constantly changing the form thus function to develop a more ideal product. Trying to improve upon design is traditional especially with weaponry.

@@BronzeAgeSwords I don’t think so. I think you are the vanguard. You are opening the door to a new historical frontier. Showing us the technical and artistic skill that these blade smiths had. One that will grow a lot in the coming years I suspect. You’ve opened my eyes to an entire age that I mistakenly assumed was primitive and crude. Now I realize how absolutely ignorant I was. The Bronze Age truly was the age of heroes and it’s craftsmen were equally up to task! Very very interesting!!!

It’s really good to have you back on CZcams, sir! I’ve watched your original video dozens of times, not only because the amazing amount of information condensed in those 13 minutes, but also because you have a very soothing voice, that helps a lot with my anxiety. I hope you keep posting new videos!

I grew up in Carnoustie! And a couple of years in Monikie, back in 1981 when there was a big housing estate being built I found a wee stone lantern but the little handle had broken off and it looked like a little bowl… lots of history all over Angus!

Your swords imo are the best out there today. I think that maybe it requires a master/apprentice lineage of many many centuries & input from those that fought on the bronze age battlefield to reach the level of craftsmanship that they did at the time.

Thank you for sharing your wisdom. If your a 5/10, then I am a 1/10. I have done some bronze casting and based on this I am amazed by the quality of the objects they made in the Bronze age. For example the socketed Lunette spear in the Met in my opinion is one of the most beautiful objects. How did they made that? Anyway for your work.

@@BronzeAgeSwords Thanx for the reply. I was just wondering about options of alloy mixes in case I cannot get tin. Aluminium is so abundant everywhere in society but tin not so much. Thanks for sharing your knowledge in your videos. I've learnt a lot and enjoyed them very much.
