- This is the new Koenigsegg Jesko, named after Christian Von Koenigsegg's father the Jesko is the ultimate expression of a track focused, road going Koenigsegg. Koenigsegg have developed their own gearbox in house, with the lightning shift speeds of a dual clutch transmission but the weight and size saving of a single clutch gearbox and capable of coping with 1500nm torque! The Jesko has moved the game on for Koenigsegg beyond anything I had imagined. The newly developed engine with a new flat plane crank for the twin turbo charged V8 is now capable of developing 1600hp and Koenigsegg believes this will be one of if not the fastest globally homologated supercar...ever.

its all well and good doing things like that that look fancy and you can show off about, but Christian is a real engineer, saving weight where it's not visible, where it can't be appreciated visually, only in the hunt for performance and pushing boundaries. The Chiron is the most beautiful car in the world but everything that came after that from Bugatti was ugly and embarrasing because 1.same engine 2.15kg at the whole car...
Similar to Aston Martin Valkyrie Engine the way Cosworth put that together and kept it as near to the specs as possible is simply engineering genius. Carfection youtube channel has a video with the engine.
I think you can’t really compare Koenigsegg and Bugatti. Bugatti wants to be unique in terms of the W16 engine and exquisite materials. They know the name Bugatti and the big engine are the biggest sellingpoints for them. And to super rich people that already have 15+ cars (most of them probably V8s) I can understand that they want their most expensive car to be very different to the rest. Koenigsegg actually wants to push limits and develop new technologies... But the Chiron is also a masterpiece and lightweight for having double the engine size of a Koenigsegg
Christian seems like the most down to earth, chilled out and nicest dude going. No ego whatsoever, which really adds to my love of Koenigsegg, greatest car company ever.

Nah. Koenigsegg 2020, with the WEC's new hypercar regulations.
CvK has actually talked about a possible WEC GT Prototype car, they have been investigating it. He said the regulations weren't quite as "inviting" as they were hoping, but didn't say they weren't going to do it either, so there's still hope ;)

amarjit singh koenigsegg is thinking completely out of the box while their competitors are barely revolutionizing anything. I mean just look at the transmission, I don’t know if other companies just do not have the balls with with the amount of people working at those companies and also the amount of money being possible to play with is completely different ballgame compared to this tiny Swedish company. Seeing that they just put out cars without gears, building all-carbonfibre rims etc. because it might be possible and efficient somehow makes me laugh about other OEMs existing for 3 times as long

Remember that Ferrari and Lambo have indisputable gains in this segment meanwhile, Jesko is just a fantasy of a supercar one of the most expensive and fastest fantasies for the richest in the world. The question of servicing these cars in the future remains mysterious, meanwhile Lamborgini and Ferrari are often in second and third hands. So it is understandable that the fight for the client will be fierce and companies do not want to reveal their technologies. Both Jesko and Pagani will always be willing.

Wow. How many ceo' s from any car manufacturer would go to the lengths this guy does to not only display his work but the depth of the explanations is amazing. He is an inspiration. The guy who came up with the idea for the gearbox deserves a medal imo. So impressed with the ideology surrounding the company, the other more common prestige car companies should be humbled by his honesty and openness.

There are accountants that run companies and there are accountants who keep the books for people like Christian. They should never be in charge of a company because they stifle the product in mediocrity because too many compromises are made. Sure the Koenigsegg is expensive but it is bursting with real innovation unlike some other overpriced hypercars which are hardly driven

The operation of this transmission is very similar to a caterpillar m series motor grader. They have 8 forward and 7 reverse gears but they have a bunch of shafts and always engage three clutches to assume a ratio. That’s one thing I love about koenigsegg, they have the balls to push it. You can tell the company is filled with people who like or love the cars. Unlike many many other companies. Thanks for that. It’s inspirational.
thats because inspiring leadership with great passion for the business brings out the best from their employees too. Big companies just slowly milk the community and do not really try too hard because its easier that way. If you are an engineer and you want to kill your passion for what you do just join the largest manufacturers in the world. But if you want to have a job that feels like an exciting road trip you need to work for companies like Koenigsegg, tesla, spacex etc.
Also some similarities to a Lenco drag racing trans seems to me but on an automated level.
I just love the way Christian carries himself. He actually seems approachable unlike the heads of Ferrari and Lambo ect .....

They were FOR SURE the benchmarks, at the time... but your generation is lucky to have Christian & Horacio, that's for sure. They are resetting all the benchmarks, and taking automotive engineering, CFD, design, automotive material science, to a whole new level, nay, dimension. It's a glorious time to be alive, if you're a car guy/gal. Happy your generation has stuff like this to put on your walls & screen-savers, and to populate your dreams. My dream of owning a Ferrari or top-notch Porsche has driven my professional ambition, and I'm close... really close. Wish i was younger, but if i was, i'd have wrecked it long ago. Older and wiser and safer driver now that i'm almost 50, so poking around at 65mph in a 911 Carrera Turbo, sounds just about right to me! Happy dreaming my friend... aim high. Maybe one day you'll have a Pagani or a Koenigsegg! Just think of what YOUR kids will have!?! The mind boggles. Bugatti saves 40Kg on a 2,000Kg car, Koenigsegg saves 90Kg on the transmission.

@amarjit singh I agree the AMG One is impressive, but is pretty much a road-legal race car. You are exchanging usability and comfort in the name of performance. Rimac is trying to give race car performance without giving up all the features that make a car great also outside of the track.
And this is a much more challenging task to be done by such a young and small company like Rimac, specially comparing it against Mercedes.

Despite the ever growing number of new hypercars being announced each month, the ONLY one to bring new ideas - and several - is Koenigsegg. And still, a lot of the "specialized" press ignores it... Strange...
Even the way the doors open is more clever than anything else out there: amazing to see in action and very compact when open, as opposed to a lot of gullwing doors that you can't open in smaller spaces...

Down to earth...he represents his brand in such a way as to make every car he makes as exquisite and rare and valuable as his vision of that car being actually used not just sitting parked in a garage. From the ghost logo...to the Koenigsegg pedals, to the "naked carbon" surface, or the carbon wheel...the bending of the wing for more surface area to making this 300mph yet more stable and THIS vehicle meets the requirements of safety throughout the world making it street legal...Koenigsegg is on a completely different level! His pride, joy and sense of fun infectious. If only!! If only!! I will probably never even see this car except on youtube or a poster...but a girl can dream.

I think McLaren are currently the most beautifully designed supercars, inside and out. Hopefully they are becoming more reliable. Because I'm a workin dude with modest financial resources, my 'special car' is a modest 991.2 base Carrera. These video interviews with Christian Von K have made me an absolute admirer of his work. I'll never be a 1-percenter to have the finances for one of these exceedingly fine machines but I wish him and his company every success. Mr JWW, I enjoyed your interview style and felt I was there with you as I witnessed how genuinely impressed you were with this man and his work.
