@Mixr0 I was just talking about the officers. They lack luthlessness. The guy should've got the Tsar right there when he had him surrounded. Greater causes are just ideals and when you lack what it takes to just destroy your enemies with whatever possible, it is all for nothing just like how it turned out....... That was what I meant by they were a bunch of kids, just means they didn't see the consequences clearly. Only comes with age I think. The Tsar actually showed calmness and ruthlessness and the rebel officers were just eager to play in my opinion so they suffered along with the men they led.
@@internetfreeforever2046 You clearly don’t know anything about this “battle” it wasn’t a battle at all really, it was an attempted coup that failed cause a lot of the leaders of the political class and generals to promised attacks didn’t pull through. A general was supposed to take the near by fort with the attempt to convert a lot of soldiers to their side. They didn’t do it cause the general was afraid of costing the lives of Russians having to kill Russians. A lot of of the rebels were stuck on the center street surrounded. It wasn’t the other way around. The rebels were outnumbered 6 to 1 with them being completely stuck in the middle. The plan wasn’t to start violence on the rebels side. The plan was to convert the Tsar’s military to the rebel cause like what Napoleon did with his own troops when he returned. Lastly, this movie is biased and is meant to show the rebels as reckless and immature when it wasn’t like that at all. The tsar was actually furious in the real life situation but still showed calmness not because he wanted to but because he needed to show power. He then gunned down his own soldiers and civilians with an artillery battery barrage and caused chaos in the streets. When the rebels were being hung the rope snapped and the rebels got the last laugh with the quote “Look how pathetic this country is, they can’t even hang us properly” if anything the rebels were the ones with better leadership and discipline. They stood still to protest the government that put them under serfdom basically lower class slaves and they still don’t want violence and only attacked in defense and stood still in the freezing cold for almost 48 hours in protest. Why? Cause they were soldiers who fought in the Napoleonic wars with officers who were young but were there in the front lines and also got to see countries without serfdom and equality under a republic democracy and they wanted the same thing with the small amount of bloodshed as possible. The tsar in the film wasn’t even the legitimate heir. He usurped the throne cause Tsar Constantine wanted to give the people what he wanted out of the fear the people would kill him.
Historically they pretty much were. The Decembrists were primarily officers who had spent a good portion of their careers occupying France after the Napoleonic Wars where they were exposed to liberal ideas like constitutional monarchism. Most of the ringleaders were in their late 20s or early 30s.

the troops forming large squares are traitors. after the original king died, the throne was supposed to go to konstantine, the troops forming had sworn an oath to konstantine, before his brother, nicholas, overthrew konstantine. the soldiers who were sworn to konstantine decided to fight back in an event inspired by the french revolution the generalr that got shot was loyal no nicholas, but was trying to trick them into thinking konstantine was king again, so the other officer shot and killed the general to prevent the soldiers to get tricked also this was during the 1820s i believe, long before the soviet union.
П.С. Это Россия детка! do wonder how many of the average "rebels" really understood what was going on. Sad to think who many lives could have been saved in the long run if Russia had turned to a constitutional state instead of having keeping with having czars with unlimited power, that could easily be blamed when things went south.
@@IJN_Haruna. Although to be it was their commander fault that led to this. They cancel the plan and don’t even bother to tell their troops. Even the guy that have one job is to assassinate the Tsar yet he had cold feet.
Soldiers didn't understand it clearly: while the "Decembrists" (rebel officers who wanted to establish a new order that should remove a serfdom, either arrest or kill an Emperor (as some rioters argued about his fate - to make a Republic or a Constitutional monarchy)) shouted their demanding: "For the Constitution!" some soldiers didn't know what they were talking about and thought they proclaimed a Constantine as a new Emperor (rejecting Nicolas I) and a word "a Constitution" (or "Konstitutsya" in Russian) they saw as "a wife of the Constantine" as a new Empress. The officers nobility didn't open the real targets of the plot to the ordinary soldiers. So it was very pity they were used in this plit and the ordinary people among citizens and soldiers were the first ones who've suffered the hugest tragedy of this suppression of the mutiny.
