Well it finally turned up. Very nice bike. Three things that let it down imo. 1/ The front rack rattles, the tray constantly vibrates against the alloy tray. 2/ The front mudguard stays are a nuisance, they’re bent very precisely for the mid fork mount, knock them out even slightly and you’ll have a job trying to get them straight again. 3/ The supplied ergon grips could do with being changed for the GP2/3 types as the riding position of the roadster means a lot of weight on the wrists. Apart from that a lovely bike to ride. Changed the saddle to a Brooks Cambium 19, but that’s just personal choice. 👍
Call your congressperson and ask them to support HR 1019, a newly introduced bill that would allow for a 30% rebate for the purchase of a new e-bike costing less than $8,000.
I was guessing $6K.. yep too rich for my blood but it does look like a quality ebike. If money wasn't an issue i'd probably go for this one. I'm going to go with the Trek ebike, still quality and mid-mount motor but in the $3K range. Since it's a car replacement that will still most likely pay for itself after a year or two.
Hey Greg. I'm also considering getting the Roadster vario HS. Did you opt for the comfort handle bars? I'm really torn on whether to get this or the Nevo3 for an urban commute.
@@worldworldworld1009 no, I felt my knees were touching my wrists with the comfort set up, the stems quite short on the standard set up so I’m still riding fairly upright. Only thing I added were the Ergon GP3 grips and the supplied ones are quite thin. Good luck.👍
@@greigs9384 that's really good to know. I'm going to head to a shop to take a look at the Roadster but they only have one setup in stock. Can I ask what bike computer you chose? I know Purion is the basic, but as I won't use maps or health stuff, I'm thinking of just going for that.
@@worldworldworld1009 I have an Enviolo roadster and went for the comfort option which gave me the suspension seat post but then swapped out the handle bars to the straight bars. A less expensive option than having to change the seat post. I also have the Nyon display which is excellent. I have now swapped the Kiox display on my R&M Rohloff Delite for the Nyon. A big advantage of the Nyon is you can customise the power delivery to suit your requirements. I have a custom super eco mode for longer rides. Having two bikes with Gates belt drives I would never go back to a chain.
Going to buy the white Mixte high speed version with a chain. I have to bring it up 20 stairs so this urban bike will be perfect and I can take the battery out which will make the bike even lighter. Finally an urban E-bike
I like that it is more sporty and a bit lighter and less expensive than the Charger 3 Mixed HS and available with comfort pkg and one battery upgrade. Everyone feels different about the tire thickness but some manufacturers insist on higher rather than fatter and R&M has done neither with the Roadster but with front suspension and suspension seat post instead. For many riders not doing extended road trips this model might be a good fit. Just hope the surface doesn't get too rough for good traction. We live in a warm climate, I wouldn't want to ride this bike in the snow.
People should remember that each person sees reality through the distorting lens of their own mind. Each mind is unique and, therefore, each person's concept of reality is unique. Anyway, that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it‼️ As such I don't think it's necessary for them to call me a colour illiterate, tasteless, style bereft buffoon‼️😢😢😢 Taking the above caveat into account, I consider the Roadster to be the most stylish of Riese and Müller's cycles. It is, also, excellent for use as a rapid, one person mode of transport in the urban environment. Its speed and agility, together with its ease of use, durability, manoeuvrability and stylishness, make it a nonpareil mount for urban use. Therefore, this makes the Roadster a very important part of the effort to get people out of their cars where city travel is concerned. Congratulations, Chris, for bringing this bike to out attention.👍👍👍
Another wonderful review. Might you do a review on batteries. New and old what to expect and what pedal pressure is like on a 50lbs bicycle without assistance.
Hi Chris, big fan of your videos. One small point: The lights on the Packster and roadster . You have referred to them , several times, in both videos as being the Supernova M99 Pros. Those bikes are not equipped with the Pro model .They're equipped with the M99 mini ( it says so on the front of the housing). Great light but not same quality ,and power as the Pro.
It’s the M99 Mini Pro. For us it’s the only one we recommend as the standard Pro has lots of problems in my experience. supernova-lights.com/en/m99-mini-pro-45/
Is R&M planning to offer the Rohloff with this model? Also, looking at the future, is it fair to expect that if Bosch further evolves its motors over the years, it will be possible to swap out the original motor for a new one?
So at low to moderate speed, the CX motor seems to be a better options for climbing steep hills aa it gives you more torque at lower speed. If true then it is a better option for people riding in hilly areas. Something that is not clear from Riese and Muller or Bosch website
One other small point, if you’re buying the HS version in the UK or EU, the lights are always on, and the cycle shops Bosch software computer can’t change it, as the options are greyed out by Bosch.
Thanks for the review. I'm looking for a front basket option on my 2021 Nevo 3 GT Vario. Can you give me a link to the basket on the front of the bike you reviewed above. Thank you.
Question. Can you recommend an ebike for touring with the following attributes? only has to go 12 mph max can go 70 miles on the battery can carry a 220# person plus 35# of gear if the battery goes dead the bike can be easily pedaled 100 miles. Thank you
I use the Auto generated subtitle to learn english both ways. However this video trying to do it as Vietnamese language and english can not be choosed. It is funny
This is the most future proof ebike right now. In 5 years’ time when mid-mounted, combined motors & planetary/hub gearboxes are the defacto mainstream, derailleurs & rear or front mounted motors will have very low consumer acceptance.
Excellent review Chris. Love the location. Your shot design/art direction/colourisation call it what you will, is always outstanding. Example: czcams.com/video/SEiCSbo2WfU/video.html Nevo3 Early Release stands out. New Roadster is epic. HS dare I say Stromer basher? Lot more bang for your buck. R&M don’t need any more “narrow tyred” bikes in their range... in ONE bike they wiped the floor of all those competing brands that do trillions of variations on the narrow style (yawn). Mixte Salvia Matt appeals to me lots. And I’m a bloke (well - last time I looked). ✌️
Thanks so much for watching!

Having ridden just road bikes for the last 20 years, this bike would be pure luxury to me.
Yes I enjoyed the video. You really go into the detail which is important when you are spending that kind of money on a bike !
I’m liking the quality of these reviews!!!!!!!
always a pleasure to watch. The silver R&B is a beautiful bike. Impressed.
I went to the shop today to have a look to it. Great job by R&M. It's pretty light compared to my cube hybrid.
Thank you for your videos.
"Mother beep messed up my joke!" 😂 😂
Looks awesome. But $5K? Yikes out of my price range. Great video.

Thanks Chris. Great bike, I’ve just ordered the HS one here in the UK. My wife’s told me to stop watching your reviews in case I spend anymore money 😂

It looks extremely similar to the Benno eScout, except with thinner tires. As usual great review Chris!

@@Propelbikes Thank you Chris. I stand corrected! Keep up the good work!
No worries! Thanks 😊
I really like the belt drive and internal gear system. Working on a bike right now, and consider to change to internal gear for the winter.
On flat terrain, what distance are we realistically talking about with the CX Motor and the larger battery? Thanks 🙏
Love the high end components but the color options are terrible. Black and gray, come on R&M.
Sounds like an opinion sort of thing..

Very comprehensive review. Seems big and heavy and for the price there could be a bit more colour in their line up.
First viewer! Always well informed and helpful videos. Thank you. Reza
I wonder why the Yamaha mid drive motor is not popular anymore.
comfort much better longterm commuter speed for the win
Lovely bike, but considering the starting price they shouldn't be penny pinching for optional extras you'll want.

Beautiful bikes. Is the higher speed motor available on the comfort set up? I just got the Benno Remi RemiDemi from Propel. I want a fleet of bikes!,

do these belts stretch at all and need adjusting occasionally ?
no.
Not cheap… Would consider if it was the same price for the money as the Vvolt proxima. They seem to have the same approach but much better price.
How do I order this bike or the latest model? I live in London.
Fully Charged at London Bridge stock them and arrange test rides
how tall are you? i'm 5'9" with legs of a 5'8" person, long torsal.
I'm exactly the same. I'm 5'9" with a 30.5" inseam
