The little girls in the first two games are known as Little Sisters.
Staying away from the long story, the Little Sisters were surgically modified to produce a substance called "Adam" which is used to effectively grant supernatural powers to its users. The guys with the drill are known as Big Daddys- their job is to keep Little Sisters safe. Each Little Sister has her own Big Daddy that is bound to her.
The Big Daddy in the second trailer is the first successful one, known as Subject Delta, and the player character. Also in the second game are the Big Sisters, who are Little Sisters that have grown up and been made to replace Big Daddys

    • @Fouldeep123
      @Fouldeep123 Před 2 lety +6

Adam was produced by strange slugs on the ocean floor and implanted into little girls to produce more Adam, the girls go round with there needle extracting and recycling Adam from user's, and by recycling I mean they chug down the needle concoction and re-extract there adam.
Adam offered incredible things, super powers to rapid tissue regeneration but by taking Adam your body became extremely reliant on it, to the point if you stopped taking it, your body would start breaking down, then a civil war happened and Adam shortages and bing bada boom your in a Underwater Adam junkie infested city.
There is a load of lore on what experiments were done, including in infinite and it's the kind that stay in your head for a while.

    • @IDyce88
      @IDyce88 Před 2 lety +4

that is incorrect the Little Sisters don't produce ADAM. they are symbiotically fused with a sea slug...the sea slugs produce the slime called ADAM. the Little Sisters can't "produce" ADAM if they could Rapture wouldn't need them to harvest bodies. there is ADAM in their blood but it's diluted. children are fused with a slug, they gather ADAM from corpses, the sea slug is what makes them have the "desire" to gather the ADAM.

The Bioshock trilogy is one of the greatest gaming experiences I have ever had. Though Infinite's setting is completely different, as well as the slight tonal shift that makes it appear more "cheerier" than Bioshock 1 and 2 , the third game is still connected to the first two in a "mind bending" way.

The little girls in the trailers have slugs implanted into their stomachs. These slugs are what made adam and the adam is useable as adam couldn't be reused after consumption before the sisters were created and on topic of the little sisters being made: orphaned little girls of an early age, mainly five to seven, are kidnapped from the surface and brought to be experimented on and made into the sisters as to keep the adam flowing and keeping rapture in relative "control." The adam also regenerates any and all injuries the little sisters sustained on top of being indestructible making them functionality immortal

Bioshock 1 and 2 take place in the 50s and focus on the underwater city of Rapture which is heavily inspired by Gault’s Gulch from Atlas Shrugged. They present a much darker view of what would happen if someone tried to create an Ayn Rand style utopia like that. Bioshock Infinite is set in the early 1900s and switches to the flying city of Columbia where a religious fanatic tried to create his own utopia. It’s eventually revealed that Infinite takes place in a parallel universe and there are many such universes where “There’s always a man, and always a city.”

Yay, Bioshock!! Fairly recently finished a playthrough of all 3 games. Can't wait for a 4th, supposed to be one coming in the future.
The little girls are called Little Sisters, they've been genetically modified to collect and store ADAM, the genetic material needed to create plasmids, injections that give superpowers. Constant splicing, as it is called, caused people to mutate and go nuts. They attack the Little Sisters to try and get the ADAM they contain. The Big Daddys protect them.
1 and 2 take place in underwater city of Rapture in the 60s, Infinite takes place in flying city of Columbia in 1912, and are separate stories, though with connections showing that they share a universe, all I'll say about that.

There is an explanation of how we get from city under water to city in the sky. The explanation is multiverse. In Bioshock Infinite it's explained... Kinda. It's very mindboggling explanation. One thing is constant, there's always a lighthouse.
The little girl is called "Little Sister". There are many of them. They were genetically modified and conditioned to go around the city reclaiming substance called ADAM from corpses. Big Daddies (the characters with deep diving suit and a drill) were made to be protectors of the Little Sisters.

    "There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city."
The staple unchangeable truth of Bioshock
Whether it's Rapture (Bioshock's 1 & 2 underwater city) or Columbia (Bioshock Infinite's City in the Clouds) there is always a Utopia that falls into chaos
Whether it's Jack (Bioshock 1), Delta (Bioshock 2) or Booker Dewitt (Bioshock Infinite) there is always a man who comes to save the city or plunge in further into darkness
And the LIghthouse, the launching point and gateway through which one reaches Utopia, whether is be by sub to Rapture or airship to Columbia

Guess who's back to provide you with trivia?
Before Bioshock 1 (uber short, in a nutshell recap):
-A certain man called Andrew Ryan got tired of living in this society so he just decided to buy a ludicrous amount of steel from the US government to build Rapture
-Few decades later, a civil war lead by Frank Fontaine happened, bringing the once beautiful paradise city into a ghost city deep beneath the ocean.
Bioshock 1 (set in around 1960):
-The syringe that guy injected into his hand was a plasmid, gene-altering chemical that gives a person special powers (and there's a lot of them), but plasmid is a dangerous stuff as it could cause addiction and mutation to those who use it (but i think it's more because you use the ones that aren't properly treated)
Bioshock 2 (few decades after B1):
-That giant diver is officially called Big Daddy (no joke), as they're specifically created to protect the weird little girls called Little Sister. They're literally built like a tank, so if you want to fight it, you better have a good tactic and heavy firepower, because once you attack it or threaten the Little Sister, it's not stopping for anything to destroy you. They often come with a drill and a rivet gun as they have a secondary objective to maintain the structural integrity of the city, because the city is in the bottom of the Atlantic so water pressure will destroy the city if it's not properly maintained. Also they're heavily mutated human in a giant diving suit.
-Little Sisters have a special slug inside their digestive system that allow them to go recollect ADAM (raw material to make plasmids and EVE, basically fuel to use plasmids) from dead bodies. Yes, they're effectively a walking recycle plant, because Andrew Ryan wasn't exactly keen on ethics. The reason Big Daddies will literally do anything to protect Little Sisters is because they run on ADAM, and Little Sisters provide them with that, so they basically have a symbiosis relationship. If you ever see a Little Sister around, it's guaranteed she's being accompanied by a Big Daddy or a Big Daddy is nearby, because only they can call the Little Sisters out the vent systems where they hide from danger.
-You actually play as a Big Daddy in B2, but you're an old model and bonded specifically to one Sister only and if she dies, you either die or go absolutely deranged or ultra-depressed.
-Oh and Little Sisters are kidnapped children, there's even a story of a man finding his way to Rapture to find his daughter, only to find out she's turned into a Sister. And the one running the city told him he'd not escape the city with her or having any hope of turning her back, so he was offered to become a Big Daddy to always be with her.
Bioshock Infinite (set in 1912) (prepare for some quantum science stuff):
-In the teaser, the buildings float with giant zeppelins, but in game it's much more complicated than that. There was a twin scientists named Robert and Rosalind Lutece, who are actually the same person from 2 different alternate universes. They invented a machine that can open a Tear into an alternate universe of different time periods, and discovered a special particle that is called the Lutece particle.
-The Lutece particle alters how gravity affects objects it's connected to, allowing even buildings to float at a fixed height desired by the user (who knows how to adjust it)
-Universal law in this game is that there are endless alternate universes with endless alternate different possibilities, but it has a law of "constants and variables", meaning there's an endless version of you but how your life playout is different in every universe.
-The girl you saw in the teaser is Elizabeth/Ana, your companion except she doesn't have telekinesis in the game but a better one, she can bring in objects that doesn't exist in the current time and place but exist in another universe (because constants and variables). She has this power because her pinky was severed by a closing Tear when she was kidnapped (or sold away by her father, who regretted the decision later) as an infant, so now that severed pinky basically serves as the anchor for her to open Tears at her will.
You guys been reacting to stuffs that i happened to know or have played, so may as well share what i know.

The best way to figure out the worlds is to play the games. Bioshock and Bioshock 2 are the same world, Bioshock Infinite is a new space. It is possibly related to the world of Bioshock 1 & 2, but more likely a different place, in a similar world.
Explanations can only be spoilers for the stories being told, and therefore rob you of the awe of discovery. Play the games. On air or off. They are 3 unique gaming experiences.

So the little girls are called "little sisters" who were genetically mutated and used as a form of resource to enhance the main characters powers. Said protagonist has a choice to make. Simply take the mutation out, or completely consume the little girls. Each option leads to a different ending.
The drill guys are called Bid Daddys, and are sort of a mix between genetic mutants and mechanically augmented and exist to protect the little sisters.
The player character is lured to Rapture under false pretenses, and pulled through the game against his own will by a man masquerading as a lost soul trying to escape. And in that vain, uses the player character to his own ends.
Another character, equally important to the story, Andrew Ryan, has what is very likely the single greatest piece of dialog in gaming. "A man chooses. A slave obeys.

I think the BioShock series as a whole is an experiment on player perception as they can be interpreted in many ways. The way in which BioShock 1 and 2 are so similar but Infinite is different seems to be a self-aware move by the creators, as there are references the similarities in themes and differences in content. Notice there is always a girl (be it a Little Sister, a Big Sister or Elizabeth), there is definitely something common and the games themselves know it.
Interestingly, BioShock 2 was developed by a different studio and the original creators only did BioShock 1 and Infinite. I think this series is a meta commentary on how games create sequels that either do more of the same or try something fresh, which is why there is such a jarring contrast between the first 2 and Infinite. The original BioShock was celebrated for being "different" and "unique" but a sequel that does more of the same can only go so far. On the other hand Infinite is a fresh take yet still constrained by the BioShock label and I think the whole series is a commentary on how to truly create art. Definitely worth playing.

Little Sisters aren't evil but definitely creepy. Good ending comes from savi g them and dark/bad ending comes from harvesting them (where you get double points, which really isn't a benefit if you do other stuff).
But Bioshock 1 and 2 are in the same universe (Rapture the underwater city) and Infinite is...different. Apparently there's some weird stuff involved there that I'm not fully read in on.

Stories are awesome in all 3.

The kids are little sisters and big drill diving suit guys are called Big Daddies, in Bioshock 1 you play as a protagonist, in 2 you get to play as a big daddy, infinite is a bioshock set in a completely different setting.
Cool fact, the kids harvest corpses with this big ass seringe for something called ADAM which is what grants people all these crazy powers like you saw on the trailer, they were also all genetically modified and mentally conditioned to serve this only purpose of just harvesting ADAM, tho at some point in time they were just regular children. Big daddies acompany them everywhere they go, these were also human at some point but were also genetically modified and rebuilt into these big robot diving suits, mostly they just serve the one purpose of protecting the little sisters by all means from all that want to harm them, so they are just like father and daughter.

So, Bioshock's an amazing series so lemme explain some stuff.
    - First off, the trailer to 1 and Infinite are pre-alpha, there were a lot of changes in the finished product.
    - The little girls are called little sisters. They're essentially orphans who were implanted with a sea-slug that made them functionally immortal and mutated. The big daddies (the things in the diving suits) are their telepathically linked protectors.
    - The creatures trying to get these kids are called splicers, residents of Rapture who after overdoing their own genetic modification using ADAM (a substance harvested from thesea-slugs) have gone completely nuts and are now essentially superpowered drug-addicts.
    - The two cities are both linked and completely different. Rapture is basically a comment on Ayn Rand's philosophy of objectivism while Columbia is what would've happened if Manifest Destiny never ended. Columbia is a theocratic "state" ran by a maniac preacher. They're linked via a MASSIVE spoiler for the series.
