  • The La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 has been reformulated so here are some alternatives which work better and are the best moisturizers to use with retinol.
Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin where in this video I want to share with you the best moisturizers to use with retinol and some great alternatives to the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 which has been reformulated and no longer works as well.
When it comes to retinol its important you choose the right moisturiser to use alongside it in order to get the best results with the minimum risk of irritation and dryness. Look out for ingredients which calm and soothe alongside humectants and urea for the best outcomes.

French pharmacy brands just work so well for me. I LOVE the Avene Cicalfate +. It saves my skin if I get more sun than intended (or miss a little spot with sunscreen), it’s great on any scratches I get from dogs and cats at work. It isn’t my every night cream (I use the Tolerance Control recovery cream) but if for some reason my skin is MAD, I pull out the Cicalfate.

Stuff I'd recommend for sensitized/sensitive skin due to tretinoin or high strength retinoids: CosRX's Snail 96 Power Mucin Essence, Etude House's Soonjung Hydro Barrier Cream, DermaB's CeraMD Repair Lotion, Avene's Trixera Nutri-fluide Balm, La Roche Posay's Lipikar AP+M Balm, Mustela's Vitamin Barrier Cream (this is a zinc based diaper cream), Abib's Jericho rose creme, Benton's Aloe Real Cool Soothing Gel (this one is actually vegan). Among these, if the burning sensation is particularly strong on the face, I'd recommend the CosRX Snail 96 Power Mucin Essence, Etude House Hydro Barrier Cream, and Benton Aloe Real Cool Soothing Gel.

My exact journey 😂. I use tretinoin 5 times per week. I switched from the LRP Cicaplast B5 to the BIODERMA CICABIO POMMADE. It is amazing, not thick, very moisturizering, affordable and totally underrated. It contains glycerin, mineral oil, zinc, copper, sodium hyaluronate, asiaticoside, madecossic acid, and several hydrating sugars. It deserves to be tried 😂

I wouldn’t call it a Cicaplast dupe, but the Rescue Balm Post-Blemish Recovery Cream from Hero Cosmetics has taken its place for me. I actually didn’t care that much for the Cicaplast; this Hero cream is what I wanted the Cicaplast to be. (FWIW, I don’t really have acne, but I have very sensitive skin, and this Hero cream is very soothing and protecting.)
