I use the clip on buttons like he shows towards the end, to judge where I'm going to sew or hammer on my fixed buttons, then mark the inner waistband & done 👍

Thanks very much. I've gone though three pair of heavy duty suspenders with the clip on ends. Every one of them has had a failure of one of the clips. Thanks to your video here, I'll be installing buttons on all of my pants now. Some sewn on and some of the two-part buttons.

I didn't start wearing suspenders until I was 50 so that's 35 years of pulling up my pants (flat butt) all day every day. What a dope I thought suspenders were for old men. I think it's the old men that know enough to use them. And being previously ignorant about where you order pants with buttons...again a dope. I will be ordering some special suspender buttons soon.

I have 3 suits from the famous 3 for 1 company and no suspender buttons. If I could go back I would have rather had 1 italian suit but this is what I have for now. Ordered some of the temp clip on buttons. Good information thanks

The traditional English brace button is sewn through the waistband, even if it's double thick. Just FYI.

I am writing to inquire about the structure of your trousers or slacks, specifically if they are sturdy enough to support a button brace without causing the waistband to roll over. As someone with a rounded tummy, I am aware of the difficulties in finding properly fitting clothing that won't buckle or crumple at the waist.
I recently learned about Ban Rol, a stiff polyester trim that can be inserted between the waistband and facing during construction to create a strong and polished waistband. Not only does it prevent crumpling, but it also maintains a perfect right angle at the corners.
I am wondering if you sell trousers or slacks with this feature, or if you could refer me to a reputable source. I am looking for a dress trouser in a straight leg, wool blend, and navy blue.

Useful and complete -- except that I am looking for general purpose (wide range of applications) X back not Y back. And either not finding them much or missing them. Belt loop suspenders -- I;ll keep looking. Still grade A for the site. Well done.

Traditionally, the spacing is 2 to 3 inches, but I like the suspenders more wide and spread. They hold up my pants more evenly and look better than two forks coming straight up
I'm using BDU buttons and bonded nylon thread on all my 5.11 pants now.

Thanks! The mannequin on the right is wearing a plaid flannel shirt from LL Bean. The suspenders are our Rugged Comfort Desert Brown suspenders with Trigger Snaps that hook to your belt loops. Those are great strong (rugged) and comfortable suspenders.

Hi Peter! A nail works really well, you don't need anything more than that. Not too wide either.

I purchased the 2inch logger style suspenders I had the traditional 1.5 cheap pair I used with my slack style uniform pants the button where put on for that style I'm guessing just like the ones you have on I used the 2inch with the pants I had and one of the straps the right one kind of slips off a little is it that I need to adjust the suspenders tighter or get buttons put in the pants according to the style of the 2inch logger style button straps any info would help
Hi Richard! The logger suspenders are one of the few types that uses different button positioning than the regular casual and dress button suspenders. The rear buttons are farther apart, about 7 inches I think rather than the 2.5 - 3 inches for the regular button suspenders. It may also vary slightly by size. Just lay them flat on a table and measure from one rear buttonhole to the other. That will tell you how far apart to space the buttons. Hope that helps!

I didn't know that removable buttons existed! That's interesting. As a woman, I opted to buy clip ons first to see if they work for me and to see how I feel about where they fall. It's kind of important that the location in front is not uncomfortable. I only just ordered online so I don't know how I will like suspenders yet, but it's nice to learn about more options.
I think they always look nice on men but I never thought much about wearing them as a woman until I realized that I am DONE with waistbands. I can't help but feel my health will probably improve once I'm no longer fighting with my breath versus my clothing, because I seriously feel trapped from even the slightest tension on my abdomen. I even wonder if it will help my periods.
Since I started reading about suspenders, I've noticed a lot of people are shy about wearing them. Seriously, don't be. It's not worth it. I plan to try wearing mine under my shirts for full comfort untuckedness, but I'm not afraid of "looking weird". Spent too many years feeling that way when I was younger and it amounted to nothing good. ;)

Hello Orlando, We have never heard of that before. Not sure what would be happening. Is it from pressure against your back? The buttons and the attachments are pretty flat.
Useful for WW2 reenactors and cosplayers as well. Have to revamp modding my slacks to accomodate braces for clip-on suspenders
Is it okay to use clip suspenders with formal wear ?
Certainly! People do it all the time. Most people's eyes are drawn to the suspenders and not the attachments.
I wouldn't consider that true formal wear.
my experience with those hammer on buttons is that eventually the back part, the pin if you may, will eventually work a hole in the pants and fail. I found it worked much better to put a small washer, sized larger than the pin but small enough that the pin won't pull through it and put it between the pin and the pants material. However even if you do this those pins sometimes pull out of the button itself. I have much better luck sewing on buttons just use a coarse strong thread.
We do not hear often of folks having issues with those buttons, but it is always the best if you can sew on buttons!

Anyone have any idea on whether or not wearing suspenders with a vest is “ok”. I recently bought a custom tailored 3 piece suit. Just kinda getting back into the dressing up seen. Not sure if I wear them with the suit and vest, or vest and no suspenders
Its fine to wear suspenders with a vest. Of course the vest will cover up much of the suspenders. Thanks for the comment!

I occasionally wear suspenders with a vest, and not to be crude, but it makes things a little more difficult should an emergency bathroom situation arise.

Hi! Yes. They are also for people who may want to make a fashion statement. For some they are functional, for others they are fashionable. For some - both!
Wearing both is a fashion and function NO-NO...that is like wearing boxers, briefs and a thong!...lol , that is a big nono!...a belt or suspenders is idea, but never both at the same time....lol

I'm sorry if you did not get what you wanted out of the video. I guess I just assumed that you would be sewing them on. Most people who contact us about this want to know where to put the buttons. You can sew them by hand or take them to a tailor to have the put on. Hope that helps.
