- Thanks for checking out our Van Halen reaction. Hot For Teacher is an interesting song with an even more interesting video. It's a spicy song that is borderline uncomfortable lol.

Lex has the cutest facial expressions and reactions of anyone!
...she is adorable
Best chemistry between these two. Genuine ...Brad is cool af too
Yeah they've become my favorite reaction channel because Lex's energy is just infectious.
She kills me everytime she tries to imitate the instruments
I totally agree.
Van Halen is literally every MAJOR fun and good thing in life compounded into one band. Itâs literally the spirit of every party ever in musical form.
Van Halen was a lifestyle! âźïž
@@johnduval633 It'll NEVER Leave .. Changed Musical Culture FOREVER!..
Omg! LikeâŠ.literally??
No.
Literally! Are you a twelve year old girl?
"A song for the boys" Nailed It! The '80s was the greatest time to be in high school.
I'm unable to find fault with anything you've typed.
I love seeing her face light up just HEARING Eddie, before really seeing anyone in the band.
âI donât FEEL tardyâ...
Still cracks me up
Haha me too
favorite line ever
I think the clock is slow đ
I believe he said turdy. Haa, toilet humor.
I still use this reference when I'm late for a work meeting. None of the younger ones get it. Oh well.
It was FUCKIN' AWESOME being a teenager in the 80s and you guys missed the whole thing!
When MTV was non stop music videos. Saying that the Tom Petty vid for "You Got Lucky" just popped into my head because I liked the Mad Max vibe to it.
đŻ
I tell my kids that all the time.
Some of the best days of my life. Greatest decade in which to be a teenager - for sure!
Bahahahahahahahaha
The original Van Halen lineup was high octane and perfect. The first album and 1984 are masterpieces!!!Some of the greatest rock n roll ever recorded!!
Best Van Halen song ever. My 12th grade chem teacher was fresh outta college and really cute. Just before holiday break, I asked her if she had plans for New Years Eve. đđđđđđ
We all know Eddie was a GOD!! But Alex freaking killed it on drums, especially on this jam!! Rest in peace EVH đžđ
Alex killed it (in a good way) on the drums. But he killed it (in a bad way) with his dancing in this song. Even he admitted this. But it was Dave's idea anyway.
@@RareHarmony truth. but, they always seemed to have more fun and energy with dave than sammy.
When I was young I thought the beginning part was a hot rod motor running ...later I realized it was drums đł
Still the most original drum intro around⊠the man that made me change from jazz to rock/metal đ
I heard he recorded the bass kick in two separate sittings so he could actually imitate a motorcycle
One of the most iconic double bass drum parts in rock
It's very simple and basic, but it works in this song.
I absolutely love Lexâs energy and attitude and joy in these videos. She makes me smile.
She's full of charisma! She looks like she's one of those people you meet for first time and it gives you that possitive vibe a person has to have
The phrase "A smile that can light up a room" seems to be written just for her.
Yes she described the tude and sound spot on. It is just plain fun
Right? You want her to be one of the pals going to a rock/metal concert, or any gathering, for that positive vibe she's gonna bring to it. On the other side, Brad is the kind of guy I'd love to sit down and have a beer or two with and chew the fat over all kinds of topics of conversation.
Forgot how dope Eddie's opening solo on this was. Alex's drumming was incredible too
Since Lex loves guitar playing, solo's. React to Eddie Van Halen's (Solo) of
(Eruption) from (Live Without a Net)
She'll absolutely be blown away.
This!!
Itâs a must!
Agree. No more influential guitarist in my lifetime than EVH. When he burst on the scene all us guitarists were, whoa, wtf is going here and we spent the next 10 years trying to play like Eddie.
PLEASE GOD REACT TO THIS!
The US festival performance of Eruption rocks too. Video quality is not that great though.
Eddie did what Eddie always does: next-level, super-fun wizardry on the guitar.
But Alex MURDERED that drum kit on this track!
There was a closed-casket funeral.
Thereâs a run down of that intro drum pattern somewhere and itâs super hard.
@@SvenTviking Half of the beginning is the exhaust of Eddie Van Halen's Lamborghini idling.
Poor Alex is so overlooked. Easily one of the greatest drummers of all time. Im a guitarist, yet Bonzo and Alex makes me wanna hop on the drums sometimes.
Yeah that drum kit need a smoke after Alex got thru with it. One of the greats.
The kid that played Michael Anthony was in the movie Christmas Story, he played the little thug with the hat
Hard to believe that back in 84 I was in high school, and could complete relate to this song at the time.
My favorite line, âI donât feel tardy.â LOL. Donât forget Alex Van Halen on drums. To me, those drums are as great as guitar in this song. He drove it all the way home.
He was ripping it up
Freaking right he did Alex rocks hsrd.
yeah, i like that line too, lol
I knew a guy that got suspended for 3 days for saying that. LMAO
@@feelingtardy, I can tell by your channel name. đ
"Van Halen" was at the top for along long time! Eddie is world famous and legendary for his guitar playing skills!
You might even say that they were standing on top of the world for a little while.
The best way I can put it is that Van Halen is the Alpha and the Omega.
Lost him way to young also. R.I.P. Edward !
True, but it wasn't one man band, Eddie was great, one of the greatest ever guitarists but without David Lee Roth
and Eddie's brother Alex (drummer) and MIchael Anthony (bass),....
Especially David Lee Roth, his stage charisma and skill as a performer and as an artist/musician, at that time
was out of this world. When DLR left, Van Halen never was the same, sure, they still had few hit songs every now
and then, but slowly they died after, don't get me wrong, Sammy Hagar was a solid dude and his voice fits perfectly
with one of my all time favorite Van Halen songs; Humans Being, but he is no David Lee Roth.
@@LegoGBlok Sorry my friend, but I don't agree, DLR was an Amazing Showman and brought a Super Flare on Stage, But the Ref Rocker Had Grit!!! And Pizzazz that was a good fit the the boizz!!
This is one of VH's bangers and one of the last with David Lee Roth. They were such a fun party rock band. What a great time to be a teenager. Every girl in my HS was in love w them and every guy wished they were them. Rock on!
He's caught up in the video and she's caught up in the music. The drums in this song have always blown me away. It's all amazing though.
*CHEFS* *KISS*
I told my 8th grade English teacher " I don't feel tardy" once. She got mad and sent me to the principle.đ€Ł
..thats funny Aaron...I always loved that line...Roth was clever
And you never learned how to spell principal. :)
@@rickwelch8464 actually my problem is with proofreading my auto-correct đđđ
In ninth grade I told my teacher name is Miss Bell and I asked her if I could have her ringy-dingy dingy phone number she laughed she loved it
Beavis: "Heh heh.....Lex said "ValeDICKtorian""
Butthead: "Yeah, these guys are cool"
Que tiempos, back in the day, yeah Beavis.
@@ElRichalie man I loved Beavis and Butthead. I had a couple friends who reminded of them .
BIG VAN HALEN FAN, BUT THEIR DANCING CHOREOGRAPHY SKILLS AS SEEN IN THIS VIDEO WERE JUST FUNNY, LOL!
When Lex hears that guitar and it hits her soul, you just know. She needs to go to a concert ASAP
Alex Van Halen is one of Rock and Rolls greatest drummers.
R.I.P. Eddie
David Lee Roth was the character of Van Halen, a great frontman, wonderful voice but Eddie Van Halen (RIP) was the wildest guitar sound that made VH so amazing and unique! Together they ROCKED!!
Now imagine been a teenager having this cranked in your 85 Iroc Camaro. The 80s rocked.
They are part of the reason my childhood rocked!! đ€
Yep you got that right man...
You and so many others who grew up with an appreciation of great kick a** music.
Nothing about the drumming?
The drumming is epic.
Sucks because the video kinda drowns out the drum solo in the beginningâŠsome of the best drumming Iâve ever heard!
Amen bruh!!!
I know like how do you miss that ? It's the intro to the song and it's complicated
Pure talent awesome.and his brother my favorite guitarist of all time.
Yep. The drumming is my favourite thing about this song.
Check out their first record sound with âAinât talkinâ about loveâ. Thatâs the more popular song from the first album, but Iâd really like to see you react to âIce Cream Man.â You rule Lex!
That riff sounds so good on headphones
Atomic Punk
Yeah. Lex would be blown away by the switch in Ice Cream Man.
Icecream man is great
Nah. Track 1. Best opening song of a debut album ever! âRunninâ With the Devilâ
Teachers in the video: Chemistry was Donna Rupert, Phys. Ed. was 1976 Playboy Playmate of the Year, Lillian MĂŒller and Detention was Lori Garland. Waldo was played by David Van Gorder but voiced by the late Phil Hartman (Saturday Night Live, NewsRadio). Waldo was meant to sound like a mini-John Wayne.
Lex's air guitar is incredible.
I lov uđ
Van Halen - Atomic Punk, Unchained, Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love, Running with the Devil, ...And the Cradle Will Rock, Spanish Fly/D.O.A. đ€đ€đ€
Don't forget "I'll Wait" â
Ice cream man!
Eruption!
Atomic Punk is one of my fav songs of all time. It's phenomenal.
"Poundcake" and "Meanstreet" as well as "Eruption, live without a net" are must do`s!
I second the motion for "Meanstreet"
@@ericlee7385 absolutely love that song
@@sayrerowan734 FUCK is awesome.
Sacrilege, my ass. DLR is sacrilege. đ€Ł
I know watching the video is cool while listening to the song but the drumming in the song by Alex VanHalen is BRILLIANT...especially the intro where he's got that drum set sounding like a hot rod or a Harley. One of his most memorable drum performances.
Most don't know this probably and assume that the drums are supposed to sound like a Harley but that's wrong. They're doing a top fuel dragster idling.
Ive been on this earth for almost 70 years. It is almost always the P.E teacher
My P.E. teacher was a fat arrogant slob, and he later married my favourite elementary teacher who was super cute. Still breaks my heart to this day.
Whenever people do reactions to this song, they always respond more to the video than to the actual song. I think they are missing a lot of the song's greatness.
I think Lex was getting the greatness with her verbal air guitars.
@@dougkydur9841 at least one of them likes music!
This came out in 1984... I was born in 1974... This was the greatest video MTV ever played!
The voice actor at the beginning for Waldo, when she puts him on the bus, is Phil Hartman, one of the funniest SNL cast members ever!
Van Halen is a true party band. Their first 4 albums were amazing.
The mighty Van Halen. You guys have alot of great songs to listen to. You just witnessed the greatest guitarist to ever play. Eddie was special. Tons of talent. His sound was unique, and he always sounds spot on everytime he played. You have to watch Eruption Live without a net. The greatest guitar solo ever. Some of the songs to cheak out. Right now, Poundcake, Mean streets, Ain't talking about love, and so many more. RIP Eddie we miss you.
Eruption all the way man, Eddie was one of the greats RIP
I think they both would also like "When push comes to shove".
...never be another Eddie VanHalen. Part of my youth. Part of my life...I still can't believe he is gone...coming up on a year next month..10/6 RIP Eddie VanHalen, miss you Brother
@@raymo6795 I'm still in shock as well. Just devastating. đą
Diamond Dave was so amazing! He was the energy! Best frontman EVER!
Yes, "Hot for Teacher" off Van Halens 1984 Lp, Friends and I used to jam "Panama" with Club Bands on jam night. Rest In Peace Eddie!
Oh Van Halen you can take a deep dive!!! Eddie Van halen is one of a kind Look up Eddie doing â EruptionâŠ..what a talent RIP EDDIE â€ïž Also just so many hits from Van Halen!!!! Good stuff!
Another grest dong i think uoull both dig. Mean streets epic
It's now time to react the Eruption Solo & believe me Lex you'll never stop smiling when you see & hear the GOAT at his very best.
Yes you guys HAVE to watch Eruption guitar solo from the Live Without A Net concert video!
The guys reaction at the beginning killed međđ
That beginning drum line that sounds like a motor gets me every time. Looove it.
It's very gratifying to see Lex really get into this song. Great, fun song. Fantastic band.
Van Halen was so bad ass and fun, man I miss these days..........
Eddieâs guitar, yes, âŠand Alexâs shuffle beat on this track is smokinâ.
Love how lex lights up any time thereâs a ripping guitar part. Cheers!
Eddie also played guitar and solo on Michael Jackson's "Beat It". Can't miss his sound after you know it.
Eddie only played the solo , the rest of that song & album were played by Quincy Jones go to guy - Steve Lukather (from Toto) one of the best L.A. studio musicians ever. He's played on 434 albums including his solo albums.
"They're just like epic at guitar" - very accurate statement about Eddie Van Halen.
Eddie pioneered a sound on the guitar called the âbrown soundâ - itâs not bass, itâs not tremble. Itâs baritone and dirty but somehow clear as a whistle
"I'll wait" is the jam off this album.
Rest in peace Eddie Van Halen. Another guitar master gone to soon. Rest in peace Dimebag Darrell Lance Abbott. Pantera forever.
Eddies jammin with his dad again now.
I watch ALL of the Van Halen reaction videos but this one is my favorite!!!
Years ago, I was driving my car, with my then-6-year-old in the back in his booster seat. 'Classic rock' was on the radio & this song came on- I bumped the volume ( of course ), & after the song ended, he said "Dad, I know this was the radio, BUT- is there any way you can play that song again? " ( I just chuckled! )
These reactions make me realize being a teen in the 80s was the best, so many fun music and live shows.
Damn, she's cute. The Mighty Van Halen was the soundtrack to my youth. It's cool to see these two seeming to really enjoy what I have been loving for 45 years. Their first 6 albums were an awesome run. VH 1 and 2 came out while I was in high school and blew us all away. Fun stuff.
Roth was such a showman. I remember so many kids trying to look and act like him.
The black and white sequences look so good because they were shot on actual black and white film. Not converted in post like now a days. The way that film renders light is something that is very hard to recreate.
lex needs a guitar
No lie, my 9th grade basic art class teacher's name was Miss Tush.
Lex has a rock and roll heart.
Go back and listen to it again, particularly the guitar solo, and recognize that there are no overdubs added. Just drums, bass, and Eddie...that's how good they were.
You two have a great dynamic of perspectives on the music. Love it. Keep up the great work.
Dave driving the bus was a nice touch! I can still remember watching this video on my parentâs tv in the living room.
They did a perfect job casting Little Dave, Little Eddie, Little Alex, and Little Michael!
This is one of my favorite 80âs bands. Eddie recently passed. His guitar skills were mad
I know it's probably on the whiteboard already, but QUEENSRYCHE - SILENT LUCIDITY is another great song you guys need to hear. (Slower than this song though, more chill)
Yes guy has an awesome rock voice. I forget his name.
Empire by Queensryche is another fantastic song đ€
@@ShanntahnPininchula Geoff Tate.... You are correct, amazing voice
Lex would rock out to "Take Hold of the Flame" from Tokyo 84 live show for sure
Anybody listening is good.
The ability to see someone meet King Edward and the boys for the first time....priceless đ„°
#welcometotheclub #pasedenaexpress
Greatest party band of ALL TIME! Miss you Ed!
listen to the live Eruption, amazing guitar solo, Eddie at his best
The second live concert I ever attended with my mom as a kid was a show for this tour in Boise, ID. This song was incredible to see live! Alex's arms were working overtime on this song, moving so fast, you couldn't see the drumsticks.
"I don't feel tardy"... haha! That line always cracks me up!
The opening drums too. You feel this some in ALL the parts!!! Lolđđđđ
Lex, the way you love guitar, you will love every van Halen song ever. There definitely was a difference between David Lee Roth Van Halen and Sammy Hagar Van Halen, but both are awesome in their own way.
Much prefer tracks from their first few albums, particularly Fair Warning album which is hard rock and excellent from start to finish
...I agree Keano. I guess Fair Warning was a bit of a dark time for Eddie. It was before Valerie, and the music had a harder edge, probably my favorite album, but TORA TORA, and Loss Of Control were also great from Women and Children First...awh hell, throw on any VH and I am happy...hard to pick a favorite when you love them all...from the first 6 albums any way....Love Sammy too but it is not the same as DLR...different band, different sound..but still good...still miss Eddie
@@raymo6795 Yes, my favorite VH album as well. "Mean Street" is my favorite track. I owned all the LP's up until the Van Hagar days.
Glad you enjoyed a classic staple for us old school rockers. I never thought about being 56. LOL
BTW, after lead singer David Lee Roth originally left VH he became and EMT in New York City. I always wondered what it must have been like to be a pedestrian in NYC who just got hit by a car, the ambulance pulls up, and out jumps David Lee Roth!
You hafta hear the album version with that banging drum intro!!!
This is awesome to watch; this song and video came out when I was a freshman in high school and to watch you guys review it is great! The song was the bomb in 1984 and to watch you enjoy it much later is really cool. Great channel!! Keep on, keepin' on!
Lol same. Graduated in 87
Lol same. Graduated in 87
Lillian Muller is the woman playing the teacher. She was "Playmate of the Year" 1975!!
"Brown Sound" - that's what Eddie Van Halen named his tone, though I think Eddie and Alex used the term to describe the sound of the guitar and drums
Excelent pick, guys!
They got many hits!
Ain't talkin' 'bout love should be next!
Keep it up! đ€đœ
classic VH,
It seems that each member of VH got an album to shine. IMO, 1984 is the Alex Van Halen album. Of course, Eddie shines on all of them.
Alex is a great drummer, but spent his career being over shadowed by the most influential guitarist of a generation. It is sort of unfair, but drummers don't get noticed as much as guitar players, especially when the guitar player is Eddie VanHalen...but I never heard Alex complain about it...he and his brother were a juggernaut...the VanHalen Boys certainly made a mark in music history. Still bums me out that they will have nothing more to offer...I will watch Wolfgang. He is good. But he is not Eddie ...10 /6 / 2020...what lousy year
HAHAHA!!! Brad bug-eyed and grinning as he watches his Highschool daydream plays before his own eyes!!
Mean Street...just a very vicious jam
you guys should listen to the studio version to get the full effect of the opening drums, also congrats on 100k subs and you guys should react to some foreigner
They did this in their live last night. We tried to get them to do the other version, but were outnumbered. They also did a Foreigner last night as well, so look for that video soon!
@@melissawilcox5285 oh alright thanks for letting me know!
They did Juke Box Hero and there were some not so happy Peter Frampton fans upset because the poll was a tie but they were trying to wrap up and the Frampton song was 13 mins long so that was a bit of a dealbreaker but Brad went with JBH which was released in 81 which for the live stream should have disqualified it since they were going for classic rock but whateve's.
@@bothellkenmore Thatâs right! I fell asleep and didnât vote. I wanted Frampton, but completely understand why they chose the other song. It was a very enjoyable live though. Love 70âs music!
Hot For Teacher is such a fun song, but Drop Dead Legs is by far my favorite groove from Van Halen. Hope y'all get around to checking that one out, too :)
Also, Little Guitars... but good Lord there are just so many.
The second teacher is Janet Jones Gretsky. An actress in American Anthem, and married to hockey great Wayne Gretsky. :)
Her excitement is REAL! Luv it!!
Eddie Van Halen in my opinion the greatest of all time there's some out there that can can probably be pretty good close to him but I feel he stood in a league by himself rest in peace Eddie Van Halen you will be missed, But never forgottenThank you Eddie for all the great music and sounds that you gave all of us.
It all goes to the sound a person likes. I never cared for the Eddie Van Halen sound. I much prefer Mark Knopfler, Jerry Garcia and David Gilmour.
So the obvious follow-up is the Police: "Don't Stand So Close to Me."
The blonde dude in the video is David Lee Roth, lead singer. The dark headed guy in the school room is Eddie Van Halen. This is one of their big hits.
Always loved this song because it not only demonstrated Eddie's talent on a guitar but you also go to see Alex's talent on the drums.
