If you havent ever looked up the history between the two of them it is so deep. They saved eachother in their dark moments and "the wedding singer" truly was the start of their beautiful friendship.
Before "The Wedding Singer", Drew had a very turbulent personal life, with stints in and out of rehab, and mostly cast in "rebel girl" roles because of her personal issues. I think Adam is partially the reason why Drew's career saw a resurgence in adulthood.
Actually I don't know the history, is there like a documentary or book I can read about it? That sounds so interesting.
@@gammarazor7798 Drew Barrymore's memoir, Wildflower, talks about the first time they met after she was basically beg, borrow, steal a contact to talk to Sandler but there was this radio interview where she puts down all the rumours they were sleeping with other because it was like above that - Sandler treated her like a lady and she responded by seeing him as a friend but also an inspiriation and then bought it to the films. That's the power of inner beauty and the best thing about when a man and woman fall in love (not lust and you don't need to have sex to be in love): two opposites making magic happen by improving each other.

Hannah Larmond Because despite the interview being obviously rehearsed and staged (That's not a criticism, it's just how a show like this works.) At the end, a truly sweet, compassionate, and loving surprise came out. Drew, who despite her past, is a really sweet person who has a heart of gold.
She was then given a hugely sweet and emotional gift that had to have reminded her of a beautiful moment from a wonderful film. Just, in a sense, like we were as on lookers. Her reaction is one of pure elation. She was shocked, awed, and obviously flattered by that song. When we as people, with hearts, see that we have no choice but to have this empathy of happiness that makes us tingly.
I know explanation can sometimes be detrimental to emotion but in this case, understanding it only seems to make it more endearing. In my opinion anyway.

I met Adam Sandler at a restaurant several years ago. Just as nice a guy as you'll ever meet and not your typical Hollywood type at all.
A friend of mine went to a Hawaiian resort that adam was also staying at. He said he was just like your average dude. They hung out for a bit by the pool and had some drinks. Definitely super down to earth.

It's no doubt that the song "grow old with you" mean something to them. It was a very emotional moment for both Adam and Drew. You can hear Adam's voice at the end when he says "Drewy" and the quick "thank you" right after. Drew wanted to break down but she hold it. There's no doubt they do love each other, but only they know why they aren't together.

I love the fact that we all know that lil kiss was out of pure love, not romantic or sexual or passional or anything like that. That little kiss is love in it's purest form and we all accepted it and won't make a big deal of it because both of them are married and all of that. This is beautiful.

Imagine a movie in their 60s, where they both end up divorced and single, finding their way back to each other after spending their lives with the wrong one.
There was a movie exactly like that back in the 70s called Same Time Next Year. A man and a woman who have known each other since they were young spend one weekend a year together every year for basically their entire lives and end up together finally when they are old. I've always thought it would be the perfect film for Adam and Drew to remake.
