I would actually recommend buying a cheap pill splitter and starting with a quarter dose, and only moving up to 1/2, if you are feeling well. I started with a half dose and it made me violently nauseous the first two days I took it. I wish I had started with 1/4.

Thank you for doing this again . I am having a challenging time navigating my way using it. I will say I have found I get angry when I take as an as need basis. I have started it daily after 4 weeks of successful as need. Im not doing as well trying to start it daily but I understand it may take a mth or so for my body to absorb and be ready.

I used to get irritable to sometimes on the medication. Everyone is different and they are definitely ways to tailor the medication to what works for you.🙏

He seems to hem and haw quite a bit when talking about the effect on endorphin release from things like sex, exercise and running. My thinking is that it's probably a fair amount of people who will lose their pleasure from other endorphin releasing activities. That may be a deal breaker for lots of people. If I get enormous pleasure from working out or running, for example. Why on earth would I want to take a drug that blocks that.

The reward system in the brain is quite complex and we have different opioid receptors. So even if naltrexone is blocking endorphins from alcohol on a specific opioid receptor it doesn’t necessarily mean it will block from exercise which is another receptor. Plus with this treatment naltrexone is only taken 1 hour prior to drinking so it’s targeting the alcohol exclusively
