Caesar speaking for the first time is one of the most impactful moments in movies that I can think of. I don't think I'll ever forget how that moment felt to see
For real, I actually jumped a little first time I saw it. Felt like I should be running.
My favorite line in the movie is after Caesar says "I'm home", James Franco responds to him with "What is this? Some kind of rise of the planet of the apes?" Gets me in the feels every time
😂😂😂
IDK why this made me laugh so hard 😅
Tamoor looks SO HAPPY to be here, it's so sweet. Tam is without question one of my favorite voices in the games industry, and he talks games so well, but he's also so obviously a nerd about many things, and fits in so well with the KF crew - I'm glad he got to nerd out with them about something non-game specific. Y'all rock, much love.
And he, as always, is a great goddamn addition
KF reviewing a series called Planet of the Apes: "Are these monkeys?".
On brand, lol.
I decided to watch it after watching the first 20 minutes of this.
Nick: “I don’t want to use the wrong term, I’m gonna call Cesar a monkey”
Literally 5 minutes into the movie the handler yells: “HES NOT A MONKEY”
These guys aren't exactly Mensa candidates.
Did no one watch the credits? One important thing in terms of plot you completely ignored was the fact that during the credits it’s revealed that the neighbor who was sneezed on, is an airline pilot. And having been infected, goes to work and proceeds to infect people all over the world. I remember watching this in the theater and everyone who left right as the credits started missed out on a huge story point.
Key difference Between Monkeys and Apes. Monkeys have tails, Apes do not.
Man, the ending to this movie, with that one airline pilot who was infected spreading the virus throughout the airport, the airplane, and then those people spreading out across the globe... A scene that is more impactful after COVID-19 began
Better not watch Contagion, then!
@@hawt_dawg_man Oh, that was like Netflix's most watched film in March 2020, when the pandemic began. Released in 2011, still so poignant.
I am BEYOND hype for this InReview series. Loved this trilogy of movies
Can we all agree that Andy is a national treasure? I love every different song he does for each movie series lol
Andy is easily my favourite member of KF (love everyone but he’s the stand out for me). His humour is top tier and like you said, the songs he comes up with are brilliant
Seeing Andy in a Funhause video is what got me to discover the channel. I don't always track down every guest that appears on channels I follow, but Andy was so great. Then I fell in love with the rest of KF.
His Ghostbusters song will forever be stuck in my head
Just rewatched this one recently. Nuts how well it holds up.
This is actually my favorite of the series. The tone, the drama, emotion, and story is really good. The Matt Reeves ones are more sci-fi action, and I think thats why everyone loves those. Very curious to see how Joey reacts to those.
Dude. This is exciting... Dawn of the Planet of the apes is a top 5 movie for me. I didn't know they were doing this! Nice!
Every time they say monkey, I die a little.
It got worse when they started saying it was legal to own a monkey. It may be legal to own a monkey. A chimpanzee is not a monkey.
@@rextitan its gonna give me an aneurysm lol
@@rextitan people do own chimps, usually theyre in a rehab situation, not regular pets and someone in my family owned one in the 1940s and 1950s
monkeys is just a sort of colloquial term or catch-all for any ape, monkey, or any other primate or similar species. but I agree, it's annoying they call them not apes often
Guys its called Planet of the APES! Not Planet of the MONKEYS. One easy way to determine the differences is if it has a tail, APES don't have tails. If you wonder what terminology to use just look at the poster for the movie.
monkeys is just a sort of colloquial term or catch-all for any ape, monkey, or any other primate or similar species. but I agree, it's annoying they call them not apes often
@@sams-pg7hj but the thing is that monkeys are an actual branch of primate. It would be like calling them human or saying penguin when your trying to describe a parrot.
This movie was the reason I pursued a career in science, loved it
Koba is the Starscream of this movie
when nick said to avoid confusion he's just going to call caesar a monkey i geniunely thought he was joking but then no one said anything??!? lol
I would love if you guys watched the original Planet Of The Apes. It’s so good. Also Congo. It’s an hilariously over the top movie.
This is a wonderful crew for this In Review!
Such a shame they're not reviewing the original film honestly.
When my dad was a kid in NY, someone on the corner had a pet chimp that they kept tied to a tree. No laws against it then. But the chimp got ahold of an axe and threw it at somebody so they got rid of it.
Tim lookin beardly af in this episode and I am absolutely here for it.
I wasn't expecting this in review to be this funny. But I like it.
Nice to see Tam here!
This movie is good, I’m really surprised at how well it is made. And shoutout to Serkis man, he knows how to make me care about an ape.
We need a Shrek or Rush Hour in review ASAP!
So pleasantly surprised by this In Review! One of my favorite trilogies of all time. Love the discussion and Nick’s finger biting jokes. But for the LOVE OF GOD guys please stop using monkeys and apes interchangeably 😩 I didn’t think it would bother me as much as it would but my lord it did.
With this leading up to The Batman. I really recommend a one off in review on Matt Reeve’s Let Me In. A remake of the fantastic Let the Right One In, but one of the rare times I think the remake is quite successful as well.
I didn't even rewatch this movie - absolutely loved the banter in this podcast regardless. Several belly laughs, love you guys!
YES, I've simply been dying for y'all to review this trilogy for forever, was hoping that it would happen with The Batman coming up.
AWESOME
I kept thinking they were going to refrance Planet of the Apes Last Frontier when they were talking about the games
This crew didn't watch Veggie Tales. Tail = monkey, no tail = ape.
Lowkey one of my favorite movies. It surprised me when I watched it the first time. The tone of this trilogy changes so much as it goes. Each movie feels distinct while being in the same world, which I appreciated.
Plot song to the tune of Hey Hey We’re the Monkees:
“Hey hey, there’s some monkeys,
Watch them monkey around,
Nick tell us the plot,
Tell us what’s going down”
I love this trilogy so much. This being on In Review is a nice surprise.
Loved this movie, my only wish was a stronger goodbye between Will and Caesar. The home line is iconic, but I wish there was a little something more personal between the two as they were family.
This 70 minute in review being detailed to 1:21 to fit all of Nick's finger jokes is the kinda content I'm here for.
This was one of the most surprising trilogies of all time to me. Quality throughout
Tam. The people have spoken. We want you for Kinda Funny full time. Please.
"Will couldn't send his food back in a restaurant" great line 😂
now i totally understand why you guys might stay away from the older apes films; they're not as good as the new films. BUT it's totally interesting to hear perspectives on them considering how silly they are a lot of the time and how surprisingly good they can be (escape from the planet of the apes, especially)
Doing some research on the older films also made things make more sense (I was like WHY are they named Nova and Cornelius)
Yeah. The originals are still good, but the later films got really screwy. And there's never been a Tim Burton film with Mark Wahlberg. 😂
There's a couple of really well done shorts on youtube that show vignettes of the plaque happening between this film and dawn. Worth a watch to get the whole picture.
Why not do the original films too?
I'd love a Taika Waititi in review💖
There's something really cool about the Kinda funny crew speaking so highly of a man from my country and culture.
And I'd love to see what they think of his past movies before Ragnarok.
It would probably be a bit weird seeing as non of Kinda funny know about Maori of Aotearoa (NZ) culture but I'd love to see it anyway, because they are good movies.
Great video btw 💕💕💕
Loved the title lmao 😂😂
Yo Andy with the Foo Fighters song was incredible, 10/10 in review.
Predication: Dawn of the planet of the apes will be one if not his favourite sequels of all time
They really need to move away from the term hero/bad guy. What they are looking for is Protagonist and Antagonist.
One of the best trilogies of movies of all time. I consider Dawn to be one of the best movies of the past few decades
Not to be that *pushes up glasses* guy but throughout you use Apes and monkeys interchangeably. They aren't. If you look up the legality of privately owning an ape it's limited to circuses, zoos, scientific research facilities, etc... I didnt see anywhere that said Joe Random could own one at home as a pet. Monkeys are a different story. There are 19 states where it is illegal to own them. But it's highly recommended nobody does regardless. Actually an interesting thing to look up so thanks for that.
Just to clarify: monkeys have tails, apes do not...
U guys just wait this series is very rare in the way that every installment is literally better then the last. The ending of war is so fantastic that it’s the only movie I’ve ever cried in theater.
"Welcome to the jungle, the mighty jungle" thank you for this Nick
These are very good movies, I still go back to the original more often. Charlton Heston really kills that role, It's an all time classic.
Perhaps Kingsman:In Review next?
You guys should stream the Planet of the Apes: Last Frontier
Caesar was seeing was hiding behind the tree so he couldn’t get shot by the overwatch with the dart
as much as i love Tim Burton's vibe, i'm so happy this new take on the story was nothing like his. i love both this and the first sequel more than i ever expected to. still yet to catch the third film, though. soon...
Yo Tam fucking got me bro, imagining ceaser saying "Boner" I'm dead lolm
It’s funny looking back but when I first saw the trailer for Rise in the theater everyone burst out laughing. The idea of a new Planet of the Apes movie was comical. Man did they prove that audience wrong.
Andy I know the exact Dax Flame video you're talking about and it's fascinating. We'll never know the truth on if it's a bit.
The amount of beard in this video is epic 😎
My favorite part is when James Franco looks at Draco Malfoy and says "Caesar's my best friend. I'd DIE for him"
So I'm going to watch all these movies so I can keep up with the reviews
I’m realising how bad the Tam and Nick combo is 😂😂 they’ll set each other off lmao
The parable of the sticks: Che Guevaras'
Pretty much the revolutionary template
There were 5 original movies.
This might be one of my favorite In Review episodes ever. The "clean boner" part had me crying. Love the chemistry between this whole crew.
Y'all should be watching the old ones! I understand they're technically not canon to the current films but you still should. They range from laughably bad to surprisingly great
I’m surprised that Nick didn’t bring up that one of Andy Serkis’ only talents besides motion tracking is biting fingers off.
Monkeys together strong. But they're not apes.
FOX himself!! Always good to see Tam
When you were wondering if you can have a monkey for a pet I knew it would be legal in Wisconsin. You can own basically any animal here.
Can we talk about how fucking awesome Tim is. Been a kinda funny fan since before day 1, and I just wanna say Tim’s hype levels and positivity are infectious. I hope to meet him one day so I can shake his hand and thank him for the joy he’s brought into my life :)
I'm so glad this trilogy came out. The original Apes films are pretty good still to this day, though they got kinda fucky by the end. The Tim Burton one with Mark Wahlberg was absolute trash. This reboot series saved the franchise.
In regards to walking around with a chimpanzees on a leash. I grew in a city in Connecticut were lady did that in the early 2000s. Eventually it ate her face off. So definitely happens wouldn’t recommend.
I remember watching trailers for this movie back then and thinking jesus what a train wreck this is im good on this. Heard it was pretty good but didnt believe it pretty much so ignored it. We get all the way to the third movie where im older a more wise movie watcher and saw the trailer for the third movie and decided i wanted to watch the first 2 cuz it looked really good. Was absolutely blown away by how good it was. I love all 3, but in particular 2 is one of the greatest movies of all time for me. Fucking cant wait to see Matt Reeves Batman
Not going to o the 60s/70s/Tim Burton films?
The modern POTA, trilogy made me a big fan of the originals! (Not the mark whalberg one)
We got Tam in on this review? awesome
It is called planet of the apes. They are all apes… there are no monkeys in the film
It baffles me that people can actually make this mistake
Great In Review of a great film but please, please, please, use "ape" instead of monkey. Its in the title. I almost crashed my car I was so triggered by this ;)
Holy crap, the CZcams ads are getting out of control
MID CREDITS SCENE!!!
At least Franco’s VO wasn’t as bad as Gal Gadot’s is ZS Justice League. Or… everything, actually.
You wanna cry your eyes out, watch the documentary about Nim Chimpsky, called Project Nim.
Sad shit. Poor adorable bastard let a rough life
I bet not putting any real apes in the movie helps you suspend the uncanny Valley in your head. If you saw a real ape and then the cgi ape you'd know what's fake
Top ten In Review episodes lol, so much boner talk
Dunston Checks In anyone?
I’m excited for Tim and Joey to experience Dawn’s villain. It’s so awesome. Matt Reeves wrote 2 INCREDIBLE films. I actually think Andy Serkis deserved a best actor nom for War. Toby Kebbell too, honestly.
If you are reviewing all the planet of the apes movies you are missing 6 before this one
They're doing the modern trilogy because Matt Reeves' _The Batman_ is coming out next month & Reeves directed 2 & 3. And of course, you can't review just two parts of the trilogy, so they gotta do this one, too.
But yeah, I agree that "we're reviewing all the Planet of the Apes movie" would be an erroneous statement if you, well, aren't reviewing _them all_
@@loganbigmo yeah I got their reasoning im just arguing the title of the video
Seriously, they should have started this earlier and done the entire series.
@@MrGeoff-iv6re Well, considering the fact that they've re-watched movie series for the In Review, it's possible someday they might.
The Serkis
"Every" Planet of the Apes movie ranked & recapped. The audacity of that title - when you are covering just a third of the series. Bizarre decision.
Honestly, don't sleep on the originals. 'Conquest of the Planet of the Apes' is amazing and the best of the entire series. Ricardo Montalban is fantastic.
Your fucking crazy😂 the best is the first one, the rest are all cash grabs.
@@cl4-tpgaming
Obviously everyone's entitled to their opinion. And most of the sequels definitely were cash-grabs (especially Beneath and Escape).
But if you haven't seen Conquest recently, watch it again. You can dislike it and that's fair enough but it's more than a cash-grab - it's a solid attempt at making a meaningful film. There's a reason it was used as a basis for the recent trilogy. Rise started out as a remake of Conquest and arguably a lot of its best elements come from it.
Caesar's speech at the end of the movie is amazing. They had to tone it down in the edit because the film got too dark and too close to real-life riots happening at the time but it still works.
Again, you can have your opinion but I'd say that it's you that is crazy if you can't see its merits.
The movie is called Planet of the Apes. How can't they get it through their freaking heads that they're all apes?
Not the best series of movies but definitely fun movies to do for in review
4:00 - I'm sure I'm lacking gratuitous amounts of context, but... HOLY SHIT, did that sound wildly offensive to anybody else at first?
There was a game called "Enslaved - Odyssey to the West"?
I legitimately thought he said The West indies at first, I'm so, so glad that was NOT the case. I am BEYOND relieved to hear that Andy Serkis did NOT play a character called MONKEY in a video game about transporting slaves from Africa to the West Indies.... I was freaking the fuck out, it sounded offensive as SHIT. LOL What the fuck!!
(Realizing that I just kind of offered the thought without even a single care or consequence for how it would come across - I'm not preoccupied, I've just been playing Assassin's Creed IV on the Switch. It was just tactless on my part, and I had no intention whatsoever of coming across as even remotely racially insensitive, and if it came across like that, I offer my deepest apologies.)
Damn 11mins in and Nick wanna be a snitch 🤢
I am not fuckin wit nick and kev these days lol
Nah nah nah you gotta go back to the originals.
Ain't nobody got time for that
Maybe leading up to The Batman 2 😅
@@benvlerick8303 I commented just as I started the video so didn't see the reason they were doing it was because of the batman lol.
Every Planet of Apes minus about 11 of them
great movies, but the first two have stupid names, Rise and Dawn?
