damn i broke down today for the first time in a long time about exactly what viet was talking about. friends but no family. i get on here after a long day of moping around and it sound like everybody is going through the same thoughts right now. Just know your not alone viet, thank you for being vulnerable on a platform, because you dont even have to do that, but sharing whats on your chest does alleviate some of the pressure.
It's interesting I feel the complete opposite. I have family to talk to and hangout with and we became much closer during the pandemic. I don't have a big group of friends though. I don't have any group chat or anything I'm in with people. I don't have anyone I talk to everyday or people that I make plans with or travel with. I see these guys up here on the podcast and I love their friendship. I also watch a few other CZcamsrs that have decent sized friend groups and I think it's so awesome and cute that they have people to do secret Santa with and Friendsgiving. I'm 100% grateful for family don't get me wrong. I just yearn for that close friend group too. I have 1 friend here and another there but they all kinda have their own groups if that makes sense.

I have bpd and I rly resonated to what Viet said about Christmas and family/ friends. I was in the same headspace last year I didn’t talk to anyone in my family, I was surrounded w ppl but I didn’t feel like I truly belonged (even if I was included and having a good time)
I pray Viet feels better on the inside and goes through new experiences as well as big/little moments that might just change his perspectives
i relate to viet soooo much. everyone always talking about family being there but then what happens when you literally have NO family whatsoever to be there for you. i’m not close with my sister or my mum and we ran away from our dad. don’t got any cousins or aunts/uncles here, they’re all in the motherland. my friends have tried inviting me to their family functions to make me feel “included” but whenever i go i feel more lonely than ever. its like fomo on the biggest scale, and like viet said “window shopping for a family”

When they asked viet why his brain compartmentalizes and isolates him, the first thing I thought is that's literally what depression does. It makes you feel like you have no one even when you do and it amplifies your inner demons when you're having a depressive episode. It just takes time to pass..

I get this 100% dude, my brother and sister don’t like my dads side of my family ( for very VERY valid reasons ) , and so since the family noticed that , they make it obvious that they shit talk them. When it comes to me, ( I’m the youngest, never had any problems with them ) it feels almost like they’re proud of me for simply talking to them. As someone who uses Uber a lot for packages I never use Uber package, super sketch. I’ve had cars pull up that are not the vehicle listed, cars with whole ass families in the car. I just use standard Uber x and immediately message the driver that it’s a package only, no passenger. Still a pain in the ass but I trust that way a hell of a lot more. Always make sure to tip for it as well.

I agree, Harry Potter movies are Christmas movies. The director of the first two (Chris Columbus) as well as the music composer (John Williams) did Home Alone. Also the only holiday that’s ever focused on in every movie is Christmas despite them being at Hogwarts for the whole school year.

Trauma is definitely stored physically and emotionally when the colder season comes around, Viet remembers nothing but the bad actions done to him when he was younger. The reason Wootak likes Jeremy the best on this podcast is because they both ENTJ so they just click with one another. Wootak is the mastermind and Jeremy is the go getter, Jeremy is also very loyal, when someone does them dirty they both plot revenge by being strategic with Jeremy being a bit more on the merciful side. They both understand human nature so Wootak knows how to maneuver and has proper etiquette while Jeremy is extremely likable and very good with impersonations. Both knows how to use their intellect and logic to get what they want. I do think Jeremy has a more mature way of looking at circumstances and situations while being straight to the point, Wootak is more quick witted, more understanding when it comes to the context of what's going on and knows how to plan activities which made him fun and popular when he worked as a waiter and a bartender. Add charisma into the mix and Wootak is a natural chick magnet, they both super quick learners.
