The ending of contortionist leads into moon cycle which is about the menstrual cycle. She said that between these songs she recorded her own cramps from her own menstrual cycle (the bloop bloop sounds) which is why fans of this album will tell you to listen without breaks between songs. I want more music about this topic!

I love the song contortionist, out of all the songs in this album, I start with either this song, Faerie Soirée, or Milk of the Siren, the music is just great. But yeah, this one’s another toxic controlling relationship that she doesn’t want to be in anymore.
Actually, now that I think about, the second verse and the chorus kinda reminds me of Teddy Bear where the guy gets so annoyed with her that he wants to hurt her.
