Nice video...brings back many memories! 28:54 is actually eastbound on Georgia (not Burrard). On the left you can see the Christ Church cathedral and the old Georgia Medical building soon to be blown up (1989). Across the street you can just make out the facade of the Hotel Vancouver. 😊

These are giving me such joy. My heart aches for 80s/90s Vancouver 😢

That conductor at The Orpheum is my friend's dad (Mr. Akiyama)!
And the former owners of The Ridge bowling alley are my current neighbours. They still miss this business every day!

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Skinny Puppy! I wish the Ridge was still around. There’s no form of entertainment in that neighbourhood anymore

Solid job, I only knew about 8 or 9 of those being done here. Had to laugh at the one scene at the ferry where clear as day you can see BC License plates on the cars, despite it being in the U.S.

I love Shoot to Kill. There is a climbing crag and a rock climb named for the movie in the Cheakamus Canyon in Squamish where they did some filming. Apparently there's still a concrete slab there that was poured for the production.

@@banksvault5557 The other thing I recall about that film is that the ferry they are on was later cut in half vertically and had a section welded into the middle to make it longer.
THEN it was cut in half horizontally and had another deck added.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-class_ferry
I live tweeted the film a few years back when that was a thing.

there's a bunch more location information there and screen shots.

@@banksvault5557 Oh no... that movie was terrible! :) And the rest of the car chase that you showed a little of was pretty entertaining for those who knew Vancouver; from Coal Harbour to Horseshoe Bay in a single cut, and back again, as I recall. ("Shooter" spliced together New West and Baltimore in a single car chase, so it could have been worse. lol).
Good job on the video, though! And the soundtrack.

Skinny Puppy - the town was a creative powerhouse back then. The town changed in the early 90's when the city got swamped with T-Holes.

I'm pretty sure I know at least one person who was a background performer in a scene shot on the steps of the Art Gallery.

8:10 they are not walking out onto hastings street lol, looks more like gastown, I was at the Rocky 4, skipped many days, just for free food lol. Thought bird on a wire was an 80s movie, just hit 1990

You can see the Balmoral Hotel in the background, so it is clearly Hastings street.
