  • Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland in the UK. With a population of around 300.000 people it is the second largest city of the island after Dublin in the Republic of Ireland. Belfast is also known to be the building place for the RMS Titanic.
    We start our afternoon walk at the Belfast City Hall in the city centre. From there we stroll around the lively walking streets and the shopping complex Victoria Square. We also visit Belfast Big Fish beside the Lagan Lookout and cross over to the Titanic Quarter.
    Walking along the Lagan river we make our way to the Titanic Experience where we end this walk.
    For an evening tour of Belfast, please check out this walk: • Walking in BELFAST / N...

    Wow, so much different from Lille, but just as impressive - very modern architecture with some older buildings in very good shape. Seems like a lot of growth took place in the last 20 years especially with the fighting officially over. Hard to believe this was considered one of first world’s most dangerous cities not too long ago.

Makes sense now - culture night. You should try to visit the Titanic Hotel if you are ever back - the drawing offices where the Titanic was designed & where the telegram was received with news of the sinking. Actually that whole area of Belfast is really interesting. When I was very little, there were 3 nightly narratives on the news each day - Nicaragua, Beirut, and Belfast. The guerrilla war in Northern Ireland that lasted some 30 years was centered right here in Belfast. So pointless and so many lives lost!

    • @Pmccaff2009
      @Pmccaff2009 Před 4 lety +2

      Wasn't really pointless? It started over the Irish people wanting basic human civil rights, which they had to fight to get - they were slaughtered in the process by the British and are still occupied and oppressed to this day, but at least we have voting rights. So wasn't exactly pointless, if it didn't happen the Irish natives would still be treated like scum in Belfast, we still are but just not AS badly.

      Ah lovely, empty threats of theft and colonisation of land that isn't and has never been yours. Go on, try it again, even with the yanks funding you and giving guns you still lost. Try it again, it'll be funny.

      It's UK! They don't want to part of Ireland. They'll loose universal healthcare and the chance to be part of a powerful economy and country!

    I always wondered how Belfast would be, there are always old bad memories about it and its suffering.
    Now, through to your video I'm getting an idea of what Belfast is like: with all due respect I was expecting something else, I don't like it too much, sorry...

      What were you expecting? I live in Belfast. The video was just round the centre. There is a lot more than that good and bad.

      If you dont like Belfast now, there's no way you would have liked it when it was "suffering"

    Lovely British land, recently was in the Forbes top 10 for best places to work and live in, it had some of the best balance of work-life quality. For reference Dublin was 13th.
    Says it all really doesn't it? ❤🤍💙 🇬🇧
