Roger Taylor is the one hitting all the high notes.
One thing about Queen's albums: They can switch musical gears like crazy as they go from one song to the next.
Roger is doing the high(est) notes. Freddie called it Roger's dog whistle voice.
Not just a Drummer boy❤❤❤🎉
@@caroleann_2142 Even though I am a man and into girls, I have to confess he was incredibly handsome, for sure all the girls fell for him.
Oh that's brilliant! I didn't know he called it that :D
Stone Cold Crazy and Tie Your Mother Down are both underrated ROCKING jams
I love that album and my enjoyment of it was amplified even more by your enjoyment of it. You have such an warm, infectious personality. Can't wait for A Night at the Opera
This the BEST Queen album EVER
I loved how on their albums one song ran right thru and into the next
It always amazed my how so many of these iconic 70s bands would have soft, or medium tempo songs, and then, out of nowhere, they would surprise us with fast and head-banging guitar-driven music.
In The Lap of the Gods Revisited was the show ending song before that was taken over by We Are The Champions. Audience participation was very important to them.
I love that they brought it back in '86. One of the best moments for me on the Live At Wembley recordings.
We saw a tear on the last track...it's touching and normal with Queen. You're likely to see more tears on the 4th and 5th albums. Queen 2 and Sheer heart attack are the basis of what will be A night at the opera. One of the most beautiful musical productions of the 70s. Thanks to you Verdy 😘
Thanks for returning to Queen, Verdy. Love your reactions. Bryan's first introduction to instruments was a banjolele (cross between a banjo and ukelele) that his father played. He taught Bryan cords on it, which transferred quite well to the guitar. He got his first guitar for his 7th birthday. When he was a teenager, he didn't like the sound of the affordable guitars his friends were buying, so he and his father made his guitar (the Red Special) from stuff they had around the house, like mother of pearl buttons, an ancient fireplace, and a table, among other things. It has a sound like no other guitar. It took about a year and a half before it was finished.
Thanks Verdy, it is such a joy to see someone appreciate Queen's talents so exquisitely...
Yes, the falsetto voices in many of their songs, like "Ogre Battle" and "My Fairy King" are all Roger Taylor's accomplishments, just like the Galileo's in BoRhap... actually, checking out wikipedia for the song "In the Lap of the Gods", they have Mercury attributed as vocals and Roger as "screaming"... how appalling!! Did you notice that in "She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettoes)" it was Brian May singing the lead vocals -- the song was written by him while in the hospital (Hepatitus while on tour) in the U.S. in New York -- the sirens and the heavy breathing in the end was his idea of dying in that hospital... and the deep bass vocal in "Bring Back That Leroy Brown" was one of the crewmen... and yes, Brian was playing a banjo-ukulele... when they performed it live, a crewman would hand him the instrument to play that short piece... so cool... and yes, the harmonies and the overall musical prowess have given Queen a real edge to greatness in the music industry... which is why I have loved them for so long... really appreciate you introducing more future musical fanatics to the talents of Queen... legends never die... blessings.
High notes normally Roger's doing, he had a fantastic falsetto. Bring back that Leroy Brown, it was a Banjo ukulele in the mid section. She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettoes) was sung by Brian with Brian & John playing acoustic guitar, I think its one of Brians and should get more air play.
Sheere Heart Attack was my first album I bought as a n 11 year old in the Summer of '76. I used to fast forward "She Makes Me" but as I've got older I really love it!
One of my favourite Brian songs and vocals.
Stone Cold Crazy was responsible for more than a few speeding tickets
I was dreaming I was Al Capone with my Tommy gun
3rd album I ever bought, when it was brand new. I wore it out.
Whoa, whoa, la la la, whoa
Whoa, whoa, la la
Whoa, whoa, oooh 🥲
Thank you Verdy….
Next A Night at the Opera, please 🙏❤
This was the first record I bought. I was 9 years old. It came out in 1974. I mowed a boat load of lawns, and rode my bike to the record store. My parents HATED it. I was stunned the first time I listened to it. I'd give ANYTHING to hear it again for the first time. I am very jealous of and also extremely happy for you. If you like this, try King Crimson. Extremely talented musicians, brilliant compositions, and whilst not similar in style, very very different from the typical 4/4 music.
Thanks for reacting to this album! It is one of my favorites, but then with Queen picking a favorite depends on the day and your mood. I hope you have a good day and thank you again!
A classic album that helped pave the way for their next 2, Both A Night At The Opera and A Day At The Races are absolute classics with a higher production value and it shows
You have given me a new appreciation for the last track. I used to think it dragged on for too long, but now I appreciate what the band were doing, and how it keeps building and building!
2:03 the nose rub and then the neck scratch in time with the music was freaky.
2:12 She scratched her neck to the bass 😂
They have that ability to rock out and then play something that comes out of the 1920’s. My favorite album - Lap of the Gods (revisited) is so good!
In Bring Back That Leroy Brown the ukelele is the original George Formby ukelele
Yeah, an "Ukelele/Banjo" to be more precise.
I was lucky enough to see Queen live in 1986 and I have fantastic memories of singing along with the rest of the crown when they did in the lap of the gods revisited😊
Yes the vocals of Queen are very distinct , but for me the tone of Brian May guitar on the early albums is so completely unique . The genius of Brian apparently is not limited to guitar playing . The guitar he played exclusive on the early albums was constructed by the musician . An old fire place mantle , and hand crafted pickups were the reason for the distinct tone quality .
The birth of the stadium audience songs like We Are The Champions and We Will Rock You
A John Deacon special. Also check out his (writing) song "In Only Seven Days" from the Jazz album. Another Deacon song that is exquisite and completely musical in his own brilliant style. Repeated listenings will bring tears to your eyes, when you pay rapt attention to the lyrics and hear Freddies voice, it can become quite intoxicating. Just like any Queen from 1973-1979.
Mr. ROGER TAYLOR! Not bad for a Drummer. I Love him❤😂😅😊
He was a great singer as a drummer. Not many singing drummers now a days, I can only think of one and she is a woman.
MORE QUEEN 👑🔥😊
This the BEST Queen album
Bring back Leroy Brown was a tribute to Jim Croce who was killed in a plane crash the year previous.
Young lady, I LOVED watching your reaction to this album. When I was a couple years younger than you appear to be (45 years ago or so) I used to ride my bicycle 10 miles to one record store or another to purchase these LPs (imagine a 10 mile ride home carrying a clunky bag with one, two, or 3 LPs). It was so worth it to me as a kid. I'd stand in front of the mirror and pretend I was Brian or Freddy. I was relieved in later years to find out other kids did that too.
Interesting story about this album. After recording the previous album, Queen came to the US as an opening act. They were experiencing the rock and roll lifestyle for perhaps the first time. Legend has it that Brian got involved with a prostitute in New Orleans (Peaches, who is mentioned in Now I'm Here) and contracted Hepatitis, then pneumonia. He was hospitalized for awhile and afraid he'd be replaced. He was assured he wouldn't be, and the other three went in the studio and recorded the basic tracks for Sheer Heart Attack while Brian recovered, leaving gaps in the music for Brian to fill. So, those incendiary guitar performances that you enjoyed...they were executed by a guy not long out of the hospital. On the song Misfire, Brian's only playing is on 8 little phrases at the end. All the rest of those guitars are by John Deacon, the bassist.
That's quite a story, but, apparently it's true.
Great reaction vids, honey.
You should def check out and react to the full live a the Rainbow concert before you move on to Night At the Opera, it consists only of songs off their first three albums. And watching Queen live is just as good as listening to their studio work. They were all brilliant musicians. PS. In the Lap of the Gods revisited usually closed their main sets, up until We Are The Champions was released.
YES IT WAS A BANJO
Not sure you realized that Brian sang lead on Stormtrooper In Stilettoes. Not Fred.
PURE FREDDIE
So glad you enjoyed this album. I bought this album back in the mid 70's and it has remained one of my all-time favorite albums ever. P.S. QUEEN was the 1st band I ever saw in concert. It was 1977 and the ticket was only $6.50! 😂
Queen was always focused on having the audiance join in. Several of their song are tailor made for it.
If you listen closely to the amusement park sounds on the first side you can hear someone whistling a song, that's the last song you heard at the end of the 2nd album.
"Cadence" is pronounced, "KAY-dence".
Bring Back Leroy Brown: if that one instrument you asked about WASN'T a banjo, then, it was a ukulele.
They touched, briefly on, "Lap Of The Gods" on one of the first two albums. That's why they added the word, "Revisited".
Something's wrong with your mic or your recording device. Every time you said something, there was a half second of dead air in the middle of it! The sound keeps cutting out while you're talking but not while the music is playing. If you're recording your speaking bits and the music onto the same device then it must be your mic that keeps cutting out. The strange thing is, it's almost every time you said something about their vocals!
When are you gonna get to some 10 c.c. albums. At least the first 4. There's also a non-album cut called, "Waterfall" that I'm sure you'll love.
Also, if you like Queen, you should listen to at least the first album, "Soon", by Lollipop Factory! They are incredible! It's here on YT! We did 3 gigs with them and in each case, they sounded exactly like what you hear on the album! And there was only 3 guys in the band! They still sound pretty close to that even with only 2 people in the band: David Tweed (guitar and vocals) and his girlfriend/wife, Becca Manning (drums and backing vocals).
Roger sem dúvida foi o melhor back vocals que já existiu
There is lot's of sly humor on this album. I first heard it when I was about 11, and the message in "Misfire" went completely over my head. It hit me like a ton of bricks years later when a young lady used the term "misfire" to describe an embarrassingly short lovemaking experience. The song is a plea--I suppose from John Deacon's wife--to "carry on" because, after all, "there's only one bullet." Today I chuckle every time I hear it. Sort of a less crass version of Frankie Goes To Hollywood's, "Relax."
I look forward to the next album . love verdi ❤❤❤
GREAT reaction!!! I don't know which side I like more - so I'll just say 'THE WHOLE ALBUM'.
Stone Cold Crazy, to me, is the birth of Thrash Metal - that riff is manic - 2 1/4 minutes of break-neck, rapid-fire frenzy! It's no wonder the follow up is Dear Friends - need to calm down. Definitely one of Queen's finest albums. Cheers!
Love your reaction 🥰
Hi Verdy, Can you tell us when you'll be discovering A night at the opera? I can't wait...😊
It was great hearing this album after many years with you. You Rock 🤘 I see you like the guitar. I suggest listening to UFO with guitarist Michael Schenker or The Michael Schenker Group - (MSG). Enjoy your musical journey.
The high notes are performed by the drummer Roger Taylor. He did most of the falsetto vocals on all of Queen's works.
In the 70's perhaps, but Freddie also did high falsetto. In the 80's Roger's high falsetto was gone.
@@ZENOBlAmusic Cool! did not know that. learn something new everyday. Great music.
A Night at the Odeon is an early concert video you can enjoy. I had braces back in the day. Be sure to let us see your wonderful smile once you get them off. Have a great day.
Amazing reaction.
VERDY l don't if you knew That Metallic covered Stone Cold Crazy from . you just did a review of the original song from Queen maybe you should check out the cover.
Great reaction, that last song always gets me too 💚
-Sage
It's always a good day when we get a new reaction from Ari.
Over The Top .. and why not ? Lap Of The Gods.
Thank you 👍🏻
"Sitting dumb" also works...short for, "sitting dumbfounded"
C'est arrivé "In the laps of the gods revisited" chantée par tout un stade, lors de leur classique "live at Wembley" de 1986.. Tu peux trouver la video sur youtube
Looking forward to future Queen album reviews - Jazz and The Game are my personal favourites 😎🙏
That instrument you thought was a banjo, was actually a ukulele.
😁👍✌️🤟🤘
Roger does the high notes.
The amazing voice of Roger Taylor....
Roger trying to make all the dogs bark on LOTG
Queen does POP
Roger Taylor is a natural falsetto.
Queen Live At Wembley if you want to hear an entire stadium sing In The Lap Of The Gods.
She Makes Me (Stormtrooper in Stilettos) always gave me Who vibes.
Great reaction as always, Verdy. Have you reacted to Queen's debut album yet? I'll look to see if you did.
Queen Brasil❤❤❤
Superb
The first song is a French cabaret ... with castrati! No doubt cabaret's influences of opera are on full display.
Hey Verdy, I'm not sure if you ever covered any of "The Eagles" but (if not) might I suggest The Eagles song Hotel California. There's a great live version here on yt. The Eagles had so many great songs in the 70's and early 80's. I really think you'll love them. 😊
Be warned, anything by the Eagles results in a copyright strike! I only made a cover of the solo and got one!
They did lap of the gods live at wembley 86 queen live is always better than the albums..... It's good to see young blood notice talent of years gone by good on you .... (On that note queen rock Montreal is on the cards....) 😂...... Live at the rainbow is also a good one for "white queen as it began"..... Lfg Mr mercury! LEGEND
Thank you ! Nice to hear again this album with you. Please listen to the cover version of Stone Cold Crazy by Metallica if you can... Cheers ❤🎉
I already wondered how you would react to Stone Cold Crazy after you did the first side :D That's speed and thrash metal 10 years before this exited. Metallica did a great cover of it but didn't get near the power of the original.
BTW you were absolutly right with ...revisited: for many years this was the show closer at all their concerts!
Metallica covered Stone Cold Crazy by Queen ✔ ✅ Check it out 🎧 great heavy fast song!
Hey VERDY maybe i might be tripping but i think you're very cute
Great reaction
Please please please react to Stevie Wonder’s Innervisions album or his Songs In The Key Of Life album
CET album n'a eu qu'un seul succes. Il n'y avait pas d'internet, 2 stations de Radio rock, CHOM (Anglo) & CKOI (Franco). Vinyl (33 & 45 tours) puis cassette (4 & 8 tracks).
Next reaction XIN LIU new song " REALITY "
I know this is out of topic but you're very pretty ❤
This was actually the first time I heard In the Lap of the Gods revisited as I learned about them. Here are the people singing along that you mention...czcams.com/video/PNV8vITiojM/video.html
A great album no one has done is, REM Out of time. Reactors seem to always closely follow what the other guys do…haven’t seen any do an REM album.
Are you going to rank albuns at the end?
Please react to David Phelps
STORIES AND SONGS VOLUME ONE
STORIES AND SONGS VOLUME TWO
Verdy, a suggestion for an up coming review. Please react to "Peace Sells But Who's Buying" the second album from Megadeth. Released in 1986, it is considered one of the great Thrash metal albums released that year. If you like tons of killer guitar riffs, effortless change-ups and solos galore, you must listen to this album. At 36 minutes, 8 songs, you could nearly review the full album in one video. Unlike Metallica, Megadeth took Thrash in a different direction.
can you react to the doors L.A. woman album incredible musicianship !
You are so pretty
Can you react to black - pearl jam live unplugged, please?
please react to daft punk ram 10th anniversary edition.
The pausing on this channel is the perfect recipe for anxiety...
Nope
Do some Metallica. There is a lot of good Metallica
You like Metallica?
I have a couple of their albums
There are five really good Metallica albums you should listen to. A must for any metalhead.
1>Kill them all
2>Ride the lighting
3>Master of puppets
4>And justice for all
5> Black album
@@gregmckinley5178 I have the black album, justice for all and garage days revisited, need to get the other ones.
@@gregmckinley5178 The Warning did a collaboration with Alessia Cara for the 30th anniversary of the black album that appears on the blacklist Metallica album of the song enter sandman a re-imagened
version and they brought it back to life. I don't know if you have checked out the video but it is highly recommended.
Metallica did not want the exact same cover and told them to do what they wanted but keep the lyrics, everything else was game.
You can either check out the original music video or the live concert video that the Warning did with Alessia voice as a backing track.
I think the Warning owns ES now same goes for Atlas Rise which they did a cover also when they were younger.
So check it out if you like and let me know what you think.
Cheers
Metallica was good 80's metal. There older stuff is a lot better than there new stuff. Kill the all was there first album
Their last good album.
Jaws. Your New channel name? Like the James Bond villain
I was at Knebworth 9 of August 1986 with my then girlfriend ❤❤
In The Lap Of The Gods (revisited) is how Queen used to close out their concerts. So it WAS sung in stadiums, rather often actually.
