  • A quick video to show you guys how to clean your throttle body. Sometimes a dirty throttle body can cause your idle to be lumpy or in worst cases cause the engine not to idle. We also discuss the Idle Air Bypass System found in the 1UZ-FE VVT-i and the 3UZ-FE VVT-i.

    Thanks bro, fixed my low idle issue straight away. Idle was dropping with AC and putting in gear and not bouncing up. Found a lot of soft gunk in little chamber, cleaned out with carb cleaner and the idle is back to normal.

    Wanted to say good info and 100% right got to make sure they are cleaned out, FYI the holes and ports are for the air assisted injector so if they are closed the injector don't work as well

    I'm curious if you've seen the low idle cause the alternator to stop charging? I've got a 3uz with the 5 speed auto in my IS300. I've noticed that the idle is around 500-600 in gear, and the voltage will drop to 12.5v. I noticed this because my dash lights dimmed at a stop in gear. If I put it in neutral, the idle comes up to 750 and it charges at 13.6-13.8v.
    I'm going to clean the throttle body as you've shown here, then relearn the idle and see if it comes up a bit.

      Hey Ryan it might be worth replacing the regulator on the alternator. Cause it is cheap and easy to do. I've not seen battery voltage drop even at 500rpm but I have replaced my regulator on my alternator.

      Thanks for the reply! I'll do that first.

      Just an update,
      Throttle body cleaned. Alternator replaced with a Denso unit. All grounds cleaned. All cables passed voltage drop tests. Battery replaced.
      The idle is low only when in drive. If it's in park, neutral and reverse, the idle is about 750. When put into drive it will drop to 600 and the lights will dim. There is an obvious idle up in reverse to overcome the load. This doesn't happen in drive. Voltages measured are 13.8v in park, neutral and reverse.
      13.6v in drive. 12.6 in drive with headlights on. Turning on the headlights does not cause a rise in idle rpm either. If it's in drive, with the lights on and the cooling fans running, it'll drop to 12.1-11.9v.
      If I remove the alt a fuse, the battery light will come on, but the alternator still seems to charge at 13.6v, in neutral, park or reverse.
      It runs smoothly, and seems like the ECU is commanding this as a target rpm at idle in drive.
      I'm at a loss of what to check next. Maybe I have something wired incorrectly. However, I didn't have this issue until I let the car sit for several months with the battery disconnected.

    hi how do i get my idle down from 2300 rpm it to hi how do i adjust it?

    • @PhoenixEngineManagement

      The 1UZ-FE VVT-i and the 3UZ-FE VVT-i are Drive By Wire systems and should adjust idle automatically. If the idle is very high like that when warm then I would say that you have other issues maybe a vacuum leak that is causing the high idle.

    can a 3uz 5spd throttle body be rewire to run a 3uz 6spd ecu?

    Quick question
    Will either of the 3uzfe throttle bodies fit a 1uzfe vvti intake manifold?

    • @PhoenixEngineManagement
      @PhoenixEngineManagement  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes you can bolt a 3UZ-FE Throttle Body to a 1UZ-FE VVT-i. I swap them out all the time.

      Well seeing as how I cannot find a 3uzfe throttle body locally would a 2uzfe throttle body from a 07 tundra work also?

    • @PhoenixEngineManagement
      @PhoenixEngineManagement  Před 2 lety

      Now that I’m not sure of as I’ve never tried it. I know the 2UZ has a taller intake so there might be some issues there

    • @chrish8097
      @chrish8097 Před 2 lety

      The 2uzfe vvti drive by wire throttle body fits the 1uzfe vvti but the small ports for the air assisted injectors don't work.
