  • This a short video of a bike lift table I made a few years ago. I'm getting too old to crawl around on my knees when working on my bikes. I had an old truck liftgate 12 VDC power unit I saved from the scrap pile, bought some rectangular tubing, flat bar, and various odds & ends, and fired up the welder and went at it. It doesn't show it in this video, but I had to add another cylinder to get it to lift my heavy old Honda Goldwing up, but now it works very well. It's nice to be able to lift thing up to a comfortable height!

Thanks for your interest, unfortunately I actually built this lift 15 years ago and have been through 3 computer changes since then. No plans survived those changes. The tubing is 1.5 x 3 x .120 wall. I ended up using two of the cylinders you see, one would not lift my 1978 Honda Goldwing from the totally collapsed position!

good job well done, also I seen to look at other posts seldom do people who make the videos come back and respond to comments.........thinking of doing one myself......too old to be bending over that much, and too difficult to lay on the ground and work on stuff, that's probably why they made rotisseries, not a bad I idea. but I may hang one over head make the ends told up or removable......and I'm all for overhead beams with trolleys ....I put up a small brige crane,
    great job you did...

Donald Powers thanks for your comment. Well I understand what you're saying about bending down to work on a bike as time goes on! That's the reason for the lift. In 2012 I was diagnosed with MS. I had 10 bikes at the time and now down to 2 as of 6/17. The 650 bobber shown in the video and a near perfect stock Yamaha XS650 Standard. I will be selling both, the lift and all remaining motorcycle parts this summer in a few weeks. The MS has gotten to bad to work on or ride. I'll miss it all. Good luck with our project.

sir so sorry for you, many people around me as i get older are falling apart..health wise...with disc degeneration life took a new meaning.for me, .I've been building things for years so now 66 I've been working
on over head lifts. booms things to pull things with.
messing with riding mowers...planning ahead but i know i will stay busy to the end.....wish i could help
I'll offer up prayers and thanks for the reply, but strange,
i just found notifications and sir...some people are beyond ugly....they dont talk like this in public....i watch many videos on diy builds on buggys and atv's and some take advice so wrong... I put a 350 cb honda motor on a 74 trisport alsport rts 340 back in 74 and tweeked it to a beast......I've found 2 frames love to find a 350 cb motor again....I would post a VIDEO...it
was so much fun it would be a great build for many...

do you have the plans for this anywhere.
I know I could scratch one up, but its always easier just to run off a plan that works already.

I just found your slide show regarding your bike lift table. I have looked at several DIY lifts and yours looks awesome especially with it being a scissor design and lifts straight up.
I am curious about some dimensions and materials. The rectangular tubing looks to be about 1.5" x 3.00"? What is the length and width? what is the diameter of the initial cylinder you used? Where is the UHMW plastic found and would cast iron rollers/wheels (like used on floor jacks) work in place of the plastic?

Hi, I want to make a tablelift like yours and I have the same pump in 12V with a 2.2kW motor : what is your supply source ?? because It needs 180A ... (sorry for my english because I'm French ...)

I hope you don't mind, but i would like to ask more questions about your lift. What is the length of the scissor arms? What is the guage of the steel? Is the top rectangle & bottom rectangle (top/bottom frame) of the same dimensions? Do both frames meet together when the lift is completely down? It looks like your idea of placing the slider tracks toward the center instead of having the track against the inside of the rail eliminated a problem of the scissor arm hitting it when lowered? Thanx

Hello. I'm spanish, excuse my poor english.
Can tell me the length of the bars the scissors and the distance from the intersection of the bars
    Thx, Sergio

Hello Allen, did you fabricate the scissors from tubes or are they made from two layers of flat bar welded together (looks like that @ 1:13)? Thanks!

    • @apowellz
      @apowellz  Před 8 lety

+leckmich0815a Hmm... The video is only 1:13 long so I'm sure what you're referring to. The tubing used for the scissor arms and frames was 2 x 4 inch x 10 ga. wall rectangular tube. If you pause at 0:32 you will see a box formed by the same tube with flat bar on the outer side top & bottom to make the lower track for the UHMW blocks to slide in. The white blocks in that photo are sitting on the bottom flange of the track for the upper (moving) frame to get the spacing before welding on the top flange of the slide track.
