I am a complete idiot when it comes to cameras. Started off with a cheap manual Ricoh KR5-Super II, broken mirror after a few years.
Wanted something nicer, upgraded to a Nikon FE. Loved it, but missed shots due to manual advance. Added motor drive but started missing shots due to focus.
Had a hand me down digital Rebel with a 50mm 1.8. Found the EOS A2 and worked great. Felt cheap after a while, AF slow, needed to see the screen in the dark, etc. (small quality of life type things) so upgraded to EOS 3.
After all of that, I realized that I had just went through camera development history for no good reason. At least that process took me like 7 years instead of 45. And it was a whole lot cheaper than if bought as they came out.
FE2 still gets used the most though.
Awesome chat. Great to seet his format back. Also, that idea of using the filmomat developer while you shoot your next episode sounds great. If it works out maybe have other episodes where you do something, like maybe episode you do while you are using valoi to scan images.
Hey Nico, I bought a Monocrom today. It's the second one I've had. As a black & white shooter predominantly it was definitely the right choice for me (and you). :-)
Great show! I love the laid-back feeling with this series but it's flaring up my GAS to seriously start saving for a monochrome M camera. It's my white whale.
Episode idea: Clear Nico's backlog using the Film-o-mat and use Valoi for scanning...

I have a EOS-1 and EOS-1N RS and honestly... buying them felt like stealing, these are so good and so cheap!
They are amazing, never had the RS but I want one.
Lovely and interesting chat. Re Nikon vs Canon I have a Nikon F4, and love it.
I have the Canon 1n-RS with the 80-200 f2.8. It's insanely fun! And the glass works on my 6dII and 5DIII
I have the Canon EOS 1N RS and it is a beast but it works so well and it uses all of my EF lenses. I also have a Nikon F4 and it is so large but works so well, like the 1N RS, is just fun to use. Still I have more Canon EF lenses than Nikon AF lenses so the Canon sees a bit more use.
I have around 20 SLR cameras and the EOS 300 is one of my favorites, if not the favorite one 👌🏼
It's plastic and nothing fancy but it's got the perfect feature set for a modern SLR. It's a shame the grip starts to melt 😢
Touch a nick on the front of the lens with a drop of black paint and the flare will go away.

My unified analog/digital kit: 16-35 L IS / 24-105m2 L IS / 100-400m2 L IS / 35mm Canon IS USM / EF-EOS R Speed Booster - for bodies - EOS 3 and EOS R7. Agree, EOS Ti / 300V + 40mm pancake = god mode P&S with no "sticky grip" issues because the Ti has no rubber, unlike the K1/K2/T2/etc. That's a major distinction, as the other models are terrible for sticky grip.

I know you don’t wanna edit these too much but I’d really appreciate if you’d cut in picture when you’re talking about film stocks, scanners, or lenses in the future.
People forget that film was shot similar to how people shoot with their phones now. I am not an artist because I shoot with film. Most of my pictures are just snapshots and memories. 😂
This is true. I have a lot of photos from the 80s and 90s and most of them were really casual shots. Super random stuff but still kind of interesting 😅

Me too, but I think its from seeing them soooo many times.
I didn't think I was a particularly fragile person, but I have a (Champagne coloured) OM4Ti.... you're dead to me.
I love my 1v no L glass yet. Soon
