John Franco's batting cages was heaven for a kid. They had a trading card store, arcades, batting cages, basketball hoops, and a pizzeria.
Idk about heaven but it was okay, that was in Sunset Park. I went to his baseball camp when I was a kid on Stillwell Avenue in Bensonhurst, it was by the Marlboro Projects.
@@user-ib2kt4oo7i That's all we had in the neighborhood that was worth the time of day. Outside of going there with my teams for practice, that was practically our Chuck E. Cheese.
dude is a legend
I was a huge baseball guy in the 80s and 90s. I'm from Toronto, so always a Jays fan. But 2 of my favorite players were Doc Gooden and Darryl Strawberry. The Mets were fire back then
John Franco is a Met that even people who hate the Mets respect.
Forza Italia e forza calabria
Great interview!
I love your pod cast
Excellent home town Italian fellow Nyer player. But is he gonna mention the tickets he gave to the Bonnano associate s? Lol🇮🇹🙌🏽🇺🇸
John Franco should've signed with the Yankees
The word John was looking for is 'compiler'
Once Game 1 went into extra innings, you pretty much knew the Mets were losing. Game 2 was a blowout for the most part. Jay Payton hit a 3 run homerun off Rivera that barely snuck over the RF wall. But it really wasn’t a close game.
I got John's autograph on St Patricks Day in 1990? at an exhibition match between Jays vs Mets in Toronto on a fitted Mets cap. On the way home the hat flew out of the sunroof of my buddy's car and was lost forever
I'm pretty sure the Franco's are from Naples. I'm related to the Franco family thru my Grandma Flo. And the family name when they arrived was originally DeFranco
Did you not pay attention in the first 4 minutes of the podcast.. He said from Naples
@@Atm8y Nahh Simple Jack.. he said his fathers family (Franco) was Sicilian his mothers was Napulitan
There’s no other city in Italia like Napoli .
I saw yalls studio in little italy the other day... I hope yall know that you are opposite of the best cannoli shop in the US
What restaurant does Carmine own?
That pitch to Bonds too close to take. It was a strike.
Gotta be honest. It amazes me how you guys know nothing about baseball, nor did you care to do any research on this Legend prior to this interview.
These aren’t interviews, they’re podcasts. We’re learning about our guests. Forgive us if we don’t know every player in the 90s + 2000s. We already did a podcast with John 4 years ago, didn’t want to be repetitive.
@jonc3903 Bro you know sabino’s gonna spit in your sandwich when you come to the shop now right
Agree
I think they did a great job
How do Italians feel about this American show?
wgaf
@@JohnnyYounitas I'm not a shit starter sir, I'm just asking a question. Being Italian isn't a heritage like being Jewish rather it's a nationality. The House of Savoy created Italy as a unified political entity the average person (peasant) carried on their lives as is before the unification. Native people's identify their heritage from regions within Italy rather than the whole country. The USA existed as a country before Italy.
No matter what we do there’s always going to be someone stirring something in the comments. You either enjoy our show or you don’t. We do this out of passion and love for our culture, if that’s hard for people to realize then that’s not our problem. 6 years in the making
@@growingupitalian you're show is great, I'm South African and I enjoy your content. Keep making great content 💯
I don't know go to Italy and ask them ...Einstein 😢😢😢😢😢
Wheres yhe gabagool?
I was here for the underrated/overrated and didn’t get it …… bummer. 🤦🏻♂️
Cringy how little you guys know about baseball
