Fitting a HydroAxe Rope cutter to a Volvo Penta S130 and S150

How to fit a HydroAxe Rope cutter to a Volvo Penta S130 saildrive or Volvo Penta S150 saildrive.
Step 1 - Unbox your new HydroAxe Rope cutter. The HydroAxe and new spacers provided replace the existing standard spacer between propeller and leg. No destructive modifications are needed to install this rope cutter.
Your HydroAxe Kit includes:-
Part #1 - HydroAxe Cutter
Part #2 - HydroAxe SD Anode and bolts
Part #3 - Special M8 or M10 bolt
Part #4 - Special Volvo Penta Forward Spacer
Part #5 - Aft HydroAxe Spacer
Part #6 - Collett Plate and Bolts (M5x10)
Part #7 - 2 x Jacking Bolts (M6x20)
Part #8 - ZAP Z-42 Thread Locker (medium strength)
Part #9 - New Extended Nut and fixing parts.
For 150S Saildrive only, a plastic sleeve is also supplied (see step 5)
Step 2 - remove existing propeller anode and spacer, clean shaft removing grit/fouling.
Step 3 - Remove top M8 or M10 bolt from saildrive leg. replace with a special M8 or M10 bolt provided, to be fitted with threadlocker.
Step 4 - On HydroAxe cutter remove three Collett Bolts and apply threadlocker, re-fit with two turns only.
Step 5 - Insert jacking bolts, tighten lightly until they bottom out, thus lifting the collett plate.
Step 6 - Slide HydroAxe onto shaft, ensuring the cutter pin locates into special bolt. Remove jacking bolt.
Step 7 - Push collett plate forward hard until stopped by forward spacer.
Step 8 - This can be a tight fit to push by hand so it may be necessary to use a mallett to tap home.
Step 9 - Tighten collett bolts half a turn at a time this will start to pull cutter aft over collett causing it to grip the shaft. Bolts must be fitted with a threadlocker. Torque to 6Nm or tighten firmly.
Step 10 - Now refer to installation checks on Page 8 of your HydroAxe installation guide before continuing.
Step 11 - Fit HydroAxe split ring anode applying threadlocker to bolts.
Step 12 - Slide on aft spacer.
Step 13 - Shaft is now ready to accept propeller. be sure to align propeller blades with cutter blades.
Step 14 - Fit new replacement nut and fixing system specific to propeller type. For torque settings refer to your propeller installation guide.
Step 15 - Fit the anode.
Installation is now complete. This video shows HydroAxe and FeatherStream fitting for Volvo Penta 130S / 150S saildrive models.
For Volvo Penta, Yanmar and Beta saildrive models a special anode mounting plate is used.
