Bruh it's annoying, they privated it and went radio silence for a day without giving any reasons to why. Also I don't see why they don't just keep the game open till they release the update. In this case they had to private it as there was a game breaking bug but I hope for the futute they don't keep privating the game which I doubt they will.
I miss the original R2D, where you were just spawned into a map, typed a L4D character's name into chat to get a weapon, and survived until rescue arrived as everyone who died joined the zombie team. That was the best version of the game - Just straightforward, simple fun.
As someone who's been in the r2da community since 2016 and heavily played the game and its events, as I get older I realize the game is just a glorified simulator. Most successful zombie games in and out of roblox ( Left 4 Dead, COD zombies, and subsequently michael's zombies) have actually fun zombie gameplay for survivors and zombies. The problem with r2da is it focused more on events to keep the game alive than actually polishing the zombie gameplay. The game eventually just became a simulator because you would grind -> get a weapon -> use weapon to kill boss -> new weapon comes out -> grind for new weapon and repeat. To be honest, the game only stayed alive because of events. After a long time without events, the game would stabilize at ~300 players than its usual 3000+, and 70% of those players were just in grinding servers. As you mentioned, getting the boss chest in the events was excruciating and basically the most effective way to milk premium payout before it even was a thing. It took me EIGHT HOURS to get the mini crab chest in R2D, and ive heard many people who needed even more time than that. Rant aside, the reason why UDS failed is because the zombie gameplay was even worse AND it had no event to back it. R2Ds player count after around a year, when the events subside and the hype runs out, will probably be about 1/10 of the initial 2-3k concurrent players on launch similar to R2D. Another reason why these games are dying is because the zombie genre is getting old. Although R2DA semi-revolutionized it, you pretty much only have COD zombie type games or R2DA type games on roblox. Its rare to find an actually unique zombie game that dosent have boring standard gameplay. And as R2DA's community gets older, the game might even fade away into a semi-niche game with less than 500 players because holy fuck the game is already SUPER unfriendly against new players. The boss has too much hp, gamepasses from R2DA saved (which I had luckily) and people are already grinding their life away 24/7 to get to a super high rank like a week after launch. If you actually read this, thanks.
TLDR: played the game for 7 years, game sucks, go play a zombie game that has real gameplay.
Yeah, zombie gameplay got even worse now, half the servers have multiple chinalake players and even m249, all of them alt farmed, but aren't getting banned because there is no proof, 2 days in someone had rank 40 which is impossible even with gamepasses, even at rank 25 the grind is becoming slow...(20k xp needed, 2000 zombie kills)
So at a fast pace the game is already back to the original: afk as zombie and farm as survivor
I've lost hope, I'll just get the m249 and play events only because there is no point in playing again outside of that, no point in experiencing the same grind as the old game with no adjustments to the terrible xp curve, I want to focus on gameplay instead of grinding but it's not possible
Neither did it help with the fact that this game HAD PRESTIGE when it was EXTREMELY difficult to rank up, you either stood in the back trying to survive and getting kills (or if youre lucky get into a competent team where you would get xp and cash, assuming you werent kicked out of the party) or the more "consistent" way was to farm singleplayer, which, took, FOREVER.
And this game had a prestige system with an already hard grind curve.
It took me (and I presume others could relate to this) somewhere between 1.5-2~ish YEARS to get to rank 30+ (usually spending like 40% or 70% of a vacation just "no-lifeing" on singleplayer or void or prison pve, as doing survival or campaings during that time wasnt the "meta" until much, MUCH later)
I rarely saw any rank 60 and I NEVER saw ANY PRESTIGE PLAYERS as no one wanted to prestige due to how hard it was until *that ONE winter update.*
I dont really remember what made that update the "final straw" per say when it came to this games life (i mean pr's loss of motivation AND losing himself due to pressure and drama) but the last updates after that felt *rushed* and it was clear that this game was coming to a close.
Funny enough in this update they made ranks easier to get, requiring (i think) like half the normal exp needed, but that was counteracted by increasing the fucking rank requirement of alot of guns...
Don't even get me *STARTED* on the shitpile playing as zombies was, full on spawnkilling simulator 24/7. The only chance (or should i say strat zombies could use) was to type idle in chat and let the ai do the work, go make yourself a sandwich and come back to spend all of your points either to max movement speed on normal zombie or spend them on leapr and digger, or just buy brute and see yourself get nuked in less than 2 seconds, this was what i belive to be the most reliable and maybe "fun" (if youre a psychopath and like to see others rage) way you could play zombie, or just *dont play at all*, which is what most opted to do.
The thing that i really enjoyed about r2d and r2da was the pvp gamemodes, in r2d it was relatively tame (minus the c4 spam), but in r2da if it wasnt the broken event or weapons or mounts everyone had that annoyed you, the toxicity would for sure make you reconsider ever playing this game.
Also the bugs (while not as many but still notable) that they didnt want to fix, instead putting the load on the moderators to ban anyone abusing the bugs, these werent your run of the mill bugs that would get patched in the next update, no no no, *you could FUCKING hit someone with a melee or an explosive behind ANY WALL*, the game didnt have a script to detect any melee or explosive blast radius hitbox that attempted to go through a wall, they had that for guns but not melees...

Sorry for the commie-wall-of-text rambling, I just wished that this game didnt have such a toxic community, maybe we could have seen the game change for the better (but tbh you can't do much ehen it comes to roblox as in general its toxic, and also it didn't help either that it felt hella infuriating dying over and over, mixed with children that (such as i was myself at that time) needed to know how to control their anger.
Even if we could have had a community that didn't tell you to oof yourself for killing them in a video game, id still think this game would have flopped either way as the interest of zombie genre games on roblox was dying and also due to *MAJOR* balance and gameplay principles problem.
This game sure was *one HELL of a ride*, good and bad... I miss this game but I've moved on, maybe its better to leave some things as faithfull memories...

Agreed. Playing R2DA since 2017 and growing up I just see it as a glorified simulator game and the grinding aspect just doesn’t appeal to me anymore. The gameplay feels repetitive and is unwelcoming to new players and the grindy gameplay offers little reward.

@@Legenducky To be honest, it still had the same problem with spawn kills and not being beginner friendly. That was even before they had npc zombies. My personal favorite game mode was the campaign. Because even then, everyone has a chance to win. But that was only after they had browser servers.
Things like the alt-farming ban have always been confusing to me. I always found it stupid how so many roblox games will permanently ban you over arbitrary rules that have NO mention in the game itself, let alone try to balance the game to prevent these rules from being necessary in the first place. What's even more confusing to me is that nobody else ever mentions how weird it is to get banned over a rule that was never explained to you, the only way to find it being joining their discord server (99% of people wont join a discord server if they aren't big fans of the game and just play casually)
Edit: There are a lot of people in the replies who barely know what i'm talking about, yet they still thought they could contribute to the conversation anyway. The problem with alt-farming ban is that it is a treadmill problem putting an unnecessary workload on the mods, there is no mention of alt farming being bannable in the game (The average player checking a game out for the first time will do just that. He will hop into the game and play it. Simple as that. New players finding the game by themself will hardly ever join a discord server or read a long ass wiki just to read rules. *ESPECIALLY IF YOU DON'T EVEN CLARIFY IN THE GAME'S DESCRIPTION OR GAMEPLAY THAT THERE ARE RULES IN THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.*
These are basic game design concepts, but then again, roblox players have hardly an idea on what a "good game" even is, they are as easy to entertain as a baby with jingling keys.
It's common sense. Not explaining the rules allows people to unleash their ideals. Explaining the rules hides their intents, and those evil should be banned.

Those comment above saying alt farm is obviously going to be ban/form of exploiting is totally WRONG. Alt farm is not even close to something bannable, it's more game design problem, stuff like this will not exist in first place if game designed good enough. Alt farm exist in R2D because level grinding in public server were insanly slow, they should fix this by making party bonus and contract system like R2DA (R2D doesn't have contract system and party system is bugged, sadly). You can 100% blame developer on this. They didn't think a better solution to fix, they nuke entire thing instead.

There's 3 things that ready 2 die will need to do if they ever want to become something bigger rather than just a place that a bunch of people with nostalgia plays for a while and then never plays it again
1. Make zombies fun to play, adding more variants buffs and such
2. Make the grind easier or more fun, most of the people that did play r2d back then have more important stuff going on through their lifes nowadays so unless they just wanna have a bunch of addicts playing their game making the experience of any new player terrible they need to improve it
3. Remove the concept of limited items, skins, guns and such, create limited content is just awful and will just destroy any reason of why a new player would spend their time playing the game, at maximum just make the stuff come back every year on a specific date

*Sidenote* I never understood why zombies weren’t rewarded for winning a round like survivors do… an additional bonus for killing all survivors would definitely make it more enjoyable to play as the zombie role thus bringing a sort of balance.
Also yes I do know zombies are quite broken atm.. but if they do balance it out to R2da standards it would make sense to have that bonus as playing as a zombie would get extremely boring

like l4d2, it felt rewarding to make it to the end
but when you failed, the zombies won and you are left devasted
its the same but you are seeking on the "reward balancing" that isn't even suppose to be a thing
tbh the 150 bucks per survivor are made entirely to make people play zombie side rather than afk
so yeah: its really just isnt a thing, being a special zombie is rewarding enough to make the survivor struggle even more

Also remember we are only in the beginning stages of the game. Soon when majority of the player base owns m249s and rpgs you will quickly understand how annoying and boring it is to play as a zombie whether they are special or not. Yes the 150 per survivor is good, I can agree, however it really doesn’t motivate a person to play the zombie role. With spawn killing only getting worse by the minute, zombies are soon to be extremely easy to kill as people get better guns, and the fact that zombies have to compete against each other for a kill , u will quickly realize why I opted a bonus for zombies winning a round

And with the last Residents surviving and escaping the Isle, the zombies followed the Light Bulb on the boat and followed them in the Silent Dark and ate the last Residents and turn them to Evil Resident before one of them mutated to a Deepwoken before starting their quest for world domination

2:23 It’s funny when i complained on the wiki about the boss having way too much health and being way too boring, a dev and a couple other people just told me that the boss health was fine and that nothing was wrong with it
7:24 One thing didn't really understand about the punishment system is how alt farming can get you permanently banned rather than just being a temporary ban. As if they're treating it like you're using exploits or scripts when all you're doing is legitimately making the grind faster for yourself. I was permanently banned for alt farming cause I was originally going to make a video on how to get levels and xp fast in the beginning of the game, but I never knew it was bannable at the time. Just found it weird

I think having a ghost mode for zombies will help to prevent spawn camping less often.
Because the biggest flaw of r2da was spawn camping because it almost forces you to go in the same area.
just make it like left 4 dead where you could choose your spawns
another huge problem is just keeping the game alive. for some reason the game keeps going private for every update, i do understand why it happens: all the changes are applied before the servers are created, but theyre currently working on 0.0.2 and... the game is closed. it has been for like 2 days now, does this mean the game will simply just keep going private until it's 100% finished? every major update we will have to wait weeks or even months for games reopening? people only managed to play it for like 3 and a half days, if not less. i do appreciate the work put into the game, and also in yours video too. gj
the game went private due to zombie spawns breaking (50% of the time zombies would get stuck spawning in the void lol)

hey all, scott1333 here, (r2da developer, wiki manager and map optimiser), i would like to go over a few of the points you’ve made
missing zombies - digger wasnt included as it would require redoing every map just so he would be functional, swarmer wasnt included because we need permissions to use him and skull champ just doesnt need to be added yet. i have no idea why charged elm, brute and stalker werent included though
jetski race - ailbric originally wanted it to be 3 laps long and have item boxes like in easter 2020 but it was ultimately decided to be at 1 race only due to it already being difficult as is and the item box was cut due to time constraints
the event - yeah im gonna be real none of had control over what got added aside from ailbric, i feel like having the boss drop 1 - 5 boss chests depending on the server size would of been better but thats something we can decide on in a future update
the grind - yeah im gonna be real double exp should be the default amount of exp you get, it doesnt even work as it is right now
lack of gamemodes - again just like digger, too complicated for right now for gamemodes such as campaign

I don't agree with the focus on the event either, I am still strongly of the belief that events were the true downfall of R2DA. The community was simply conditioned into begging for events and receiving them instead of wanting more interesting and rewarding campaigns. I truly hope we can finally correct the mistakes of R2DA and stop adding things because of "tradition". I've been through all of it and even I, as the old fart that I am, want change.
Events were a nice change of pace to r2d but god they were awful at times and doesn't help with bosses having way too much HP
@@Nuxi10. thing is, there was no pace to change. The game was dormant in-between events, players being forced to endure a progressively more broken and broken game on the same few maps that actually had campaigns. It was all just mindlessly killing zombies. Then an event that took months of work came about, lasted for 3 weeks then got removed, returning the game to its dormant state.
Ideally, R2D shouldn't need updates to be a fun game. The best, most memorable games of all time don't rely on updates, rather they have core gameplay loops that are simply fun to play.
Events also just get people to play out of FOMO so it’s also not great in that aspect either because of the limited time only items

Even if it wasn’t perfect, it did feel nice to play a remade version of r2d. I never really played the game a whole lot but I always thought it was a really good game. But when r2da got deleted I really did miss the game even if I didn’t play it much. I hope that this game can improve and hopefully not stress out the people making it. I also went around telling my friends and we all were able to play it before it closed for updates. (Had a great time playing it by the way)
One of the main reasons I didn’t play too much was because I was a low rank and I usually ended up as a zombie because of how hard the game was for me then spending the rest of the time getting that guy with the duck mount and jetpack (lol). I did have fun though.

0:35 the fact that you mentioned Reason 3 Die, Was the game that i actually worked for the owner last year. But since time flies with game testing and delays. It became a failure.
Its just unfun to play as a zombie, so I just afk until the round is over, and yeah you nailed it with the events.
i used to grind r2da in around 2018-2019 and it took me a fuck ton of time to actually get decent weapons and the problem with ready 2 die is that we lost every progress, unless ur a nolife and have a shitload of time to spend on games you cant really enjoy the game anymore as most of the people that used to play r2da grew up and dont have enough time

Even though I appreciate them making a 1:1 copy of R2DA to bring it back, like you said, its gonna bring the same issues to the table. But since this is in alpha, I hope they reconsider making the game properly refined and fun to play instead of a 1:1 replica. I notice how they brought back most of the weapons from R2DA, but again, same balancing issues.
I also realized they are adding prestige, I sincerely hope they DONT add HP bonuses to each level or add party bonuses either. Because first, HP bonuses broke the game's balance in half and second, Money and EXP should be EARNED BY THE PLAYER, NOT SHARED.
I agree with everything except the money system it makes the grind less tedious as he mentioned in the video as the grind is usually very boring and hard and if you have friends or groups that can assist, it helps VERY much.
@@interceptor3838 It encourages alt accounts and you don't really feel rewarded just for bringing friends along, you could be a Rank 1 and someone else higher ranked in your party just shoots explosives giving the party tons of Money or EXP.
Instead to remedy this, they should make guns cheaper and less EXP required to rank up rank faster to make the grind more tolerable.
They aren’t adding prestige HP, they clarified that very very long ago
They should just make it so that the grind to unlock everything should only take around 50 hours on average assuming your only playing for 2-3 hours a day.
@@goldenzed6455 I was also thinking maybe everything is unlocked right from the get go, you still have to grind and pay for your weapons but the EXP bar will be a prestige meter instead.
At the end of the day you (or at least I) can't _entirely_ blame them for the bad launch:
They only have a dozen testers, (I heard they have like 20, with timezones in mind that would be like 5 active on average) and you can only do so much with that in terms of knowing if the servers are going to struggle or not. Some bugs require many people and/or luck to be found out as you can't always think of trying everything, thus bugs that would've seemingly been easily discovered start appearing when thousands of people are playing. You might suggest having more testers, but you can either have a good amount of testers and no leaks, or a big amount of testers and probable leaks.

One thing I do really enjoy in Ready 2 Die is that the gamepasses you own from the OG game transfer.
I remember in the original Reason 2 Die (not awakening), the event item is given to you on the first chest you open. For example, the Halloween Vest was given to you if you didn't have it, and then any subsequent chests you opened would be random rewards.
The game also keeps going private without warning, people have bought things is this new version of the game just for them all to be taken away almost instantly

I think the funniest thing that i found about Ready 2 Die, is that i actually had more fun playing the base game and grinding it out and just seeing all the new maps and changes, rather than playing the actual event, the actual event is literally so bad, the quest is short as hell and anyone with 2 braincells can beat it. Not to mention the bossfight only has like 1 deadly move and thats the meteor strike, the 2nd deadly move is when he grabs you, but you gotta be dumb enough to get right up in his face to get grabbed. The boss has an absurd amount of health, and a bunch of moves that do little pricks for damage, its literally just a constant loop.
back in Reason 2 Die Awakening, I hated the base game for how boring and grindy it was, and instead only hopped on every event because thats where all the fun lied, with this event it was funnily the exact opposite. i hope next event is challenging, has a long quest and is fun.
I myself was an R2DA fan who was absolutely rejoiced to see R2D come out. However, after watching this video, it actually does change some ways I see the game. Was it a genuine passion project by those who care about reviving a game they love, or a game intended to capitalize on players’ nostalgia? I think it’s a bit of both personally, especially with the heinous amount of gamepasses they’re offering. Of course, the amount of work they put in is beyond admirable. Some might say making a 1:1 copy of a game is easier, but I honestly disagree. Overall, I just hope that R2D will be able to recreate the old experiences we love, but fix on the many, MANY issues R2DA had.

2:33 ngl the system where after a boss dies and u have to look for and race to the special chest is pretty fun, I’d much rather be climbing on umbrellas and trees and hunger game for the chest. it’s a 3.3% chance to get the chest a full lobby and it’s a way better system than an actual drop rate system where 3.3% chance the item goes straight into ur inventory. Ur rewarded for smarter desicion making since where you decide to wait for the chest could determine whether u get it or not. Gpo is a perfect example of the brain-damaging boss farm process of having to pour hundreds of hours into the game for a text to appear onscreen

When I had time to grind, I had no job or money, and all the free time in the world. Now that I have a job and money, I dont have the free time to grind for months on end just to get back what I already had.

I recently played this game and oh boy do I have a few problems. The problem it brought along that I absolutely despise is that spawnkilling is just as prevalent as ever. There's like 4 zombie spawns on most maps. It's not like left 4 dead where you can't spawn where survivors can see you, you just spawn in one of 4 spots, most being near common holdout spots, sight be damned. Another problem is that the game has no reserve ammo, only reserve mags. I am the type of person to reload my gun after a shot or two so I can always be topped off on ammo, but that causes the 5 other shells in my shotgun to vanish into the aether, never to be seen again. Many of the guns have ridiculously low ammo counts (Steyr M has like 3 mags in total, including the first you get) and there isn't a tutorial for the infected. You aren't told to hold LMB to use the edgar tongue, nor that you can double tap W to charge as a Ticker. You're just expected to know it by default because there's no tutorial yet. Similarly the normal zombies feel pathetic as shit. You might as well idle on the old and new game because of how outrageously shit they are. Similarly, the Leaper has, contrary to its name, MANY problems with verticality. You need to practically spam space and pray to god to get out of a hole. He also just has generally fucking terrible mobility, like my dead grandma could move faster than him. The hit registration on Edgar tongues is janky as fuck, and it's impossible to aim because I need to shoot it 5 years before I intend on it hitting anything. The two listed are supposed to have great mobility to make up for garbage health, but the Edgar barely feels faster than a normal zombie, and the Leaper has the mobility of a parapalegic.
There's a lot of thought and effort behind this game, but these shortcomings make it feel like shit to play.
i bought the jetski mount in r2da, shouldnt it have like been given to me or werent they doing mount gamepasses tho
i think for what ready 2 die is trying to achieve it's doing everything perfectly: keeping the old gameplay loop the same so it still feels like r2da, improving on things with qol (daily rewards) (adding old fun gamemodes back) and putting something new in the game that still feels the same (the map reworks, the summer event) it still has some bugs and features missing but the game is in alpha and the devs are actually putting care into the game seeing as how they took it down for a day and rereleased it with little to no bugs
Feels like games events dont feel special anymore,being lack of content in or the simplicity and compensating with grind,rather to make it challenging to get your friends,make a plan and put your skills to the test,after all of that You will feel amazing after you earn your shiny new toy.

I feel that PR did a better job, he was very detailed and everything evolved with the player, including the zombies, he also always brought us surprises in the least expected moments, he always knew how to add what we felt was missing but never asked for, and of course, the events just aren't the same anymore
lack of campaigns and ai zombies rllu killed the experience for me
To be fair, about the making low level weapons strong segment, from what i remember in r2da low level weapons were pretty damn goos, the place where the difference between guns was really shown is boss fights, wbere an m249 is way better than any low level gun u can get

One thing I love is gamepasses carry over from r2da or at least I think, I owned the flamethrower gamepass in r2da and I got it for free in r2d.

digger wasnt added because par needs to remake the whole dig system i think? in r2dA pr needed to manually add where the digger can tunnel or not, and on bigger maps this would be tedious
