I don’t think you could get a whole game out of it, but a Planet Resort with a mountain range biome would be perfect for this! Also an oceanfront biome with coral reefs for scuba diving, etc. It’d also be incredibly cool to have more events with a future game.

Planet movies maybe? We are building a film studio, hiring staff, making films. It would also be possible to use elements of Planet Coaster to create a theme park on the studio territory. Taking the old game "the movies" as a source of inspiration, making a similar scene editor for creating movies, adding game mechanics, for example, the ability to create franchises... it could be interesting, right?
Rudi is so excited for this idea he pronounces "ski" like 3 different ways! But that excitement is contagious. I'm sold.
I can see this being incorporated into a planet resort game!
I just want planco 2 this year. Whatever added bonus planet games we get in the next years is cool. But I've been waiting for that sequel so long.

I had a game called Ski Resort Extreme which I absolutely loved when I was younger and I would love it if Planet took up the ski resort game genre!
The idea of a ski resort is kinda fun, but to be honest it feels like there is to little to the theme to make a "Planet Series" sized game out of, maybe thats just me. Could totally see it being included in Planet coaster 2 tho
I love how people argued planet aquarium being a thing and now say this is too small for a game on its own 😅 I mean I kinda agree it fit a planet resort but it surely would be more than a planet aquarium

Why too small? Did you ever think about the tons of possibilities of such a theme?
There are so many different styles of ski resorts (from small local ski areas with 1-2 small lifts over the typical bigger ski resort like "Zell am See/Kaprun" up to these massive ski cities in the french alps....not to forget all the different styles in different countires (a ski resort in the US looks completely different from one in Austria or for example Japan)).
All the different types of infrastructure.....for example the snow making system itself has a quite large variety in facilities, machines, etc... (different types of snow cannons, pumping systems, artificial lakes).
Then the number of types of chair lifts, cable cars, etc which is even much larger (from drag lifts/rope lifts over to several types of chair lifts in different sizes (detachable or non detachable...), monocable, bi-cable, 3-cable (mainly detachable), double monocable (funitel cable cars) aerial tramways, funiculars, etc.......there would be a HUGE amount of content for such a game.
With seasons you could add the extra challenge that you need to make the area also attractive for guests during summer (as many ski resorts look like stone deserts or large construction sites during summer). Adding bike trails, cliff walks, adventure trails or other similar stuff for summer guests for example...
I would see it quite similar as Planet Coaster, where you have all the facilities for guests or staff and all these different rides (although most of the rides have a limited potential in building them as most cable cars are mainly (or completely) built straight without curves.
And at last I could imagine it to be a lot of fun to plan how to integrate several facilities into a certain mountain area (without too much terraforming of the area), to think strategic when it comes to the best location for ski slopes, how to get there, etc (there could even be (in a challenge mode) extra points if you build quite spectacular rides that offer the guests maybe a better view, etc).
I would to be honest maybe call it Planet Mountain Resort (instead of just focusing on ski resorts)🙈.

It would be awesome to see elevation/location/annual temperature fluctuations affect how long seasons last, and make you take risks on what to invest in for the next season, you can spend money to hire meteorologists to predict annual climates or eye ball it based on what you see in the simulation. On the long summer seasons you can open up golf courses and make minor trail improvements in short winter seasons.

I don't see a stand alone SKI-focused game. I see a RESORT-focused game, like what you mention with seasons, but even more. Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo are broad (enough) terms to what kind of themed entertainment destinations they focus on -- the creators have focused on specifics, not the company. For example. you could argue "wtf about zoo all of the game is about zoos.", but the game scenarios focus on rehabilitation centers, nature preserves, and other animal centers. It's the game players that have directed their train of thought to everything having to be a zoo.
That's why I see the strong potential for something even more broader in definition to Planet Resort (although naming convention wise, this is the closest I can think of being used). But those resorts could be beach destinations, ski resorts, autumnal harvest centers, cozy farmsteads, spring private luxury spas.... or even something "else". When I think of what "Planet" game could fit into the franchise that isn't predictable, I go to Themed Entertainment, and there's such a larger option of venues to use that I really don't see Frontier focusing on such an ultra-niche response. It'll be niche, but it'll be broad enough to open the creativity thought process.
Un an unrelated note, I'm very curious as to the linguistic shift you use from "ski" to "she". Is this some cool German thing, or just a Rudy-ism?
in german we say "she" like ski. i thought thats how its said globally as its from europe. However, I was tought in this case the norwagian word is actually SKI with a hard k

I would love a Planet Resort with only one DLC every year and maybe 3 free updates but that would be a biiig dlc, like a basegame with building tool, landscaping and a basic hotel theme, then a ski resort dlc, a luxury hotel dlc, a beach dlc....there would be soo much potential!!!

I think you could make a whole game out of it, if it encompassed more sports sort of like that Riders Republic game from Ubisoft.
Or if it was a "Planet Olympics" so making stadiums for track and field and the Olympic village and managing all the athletes etc
Very plausible but personally doesn't generate as much hype as waterparks, planco 2, or safari park (coasters+animals)

I don't understand why people don't see this theme as a standalone theme.... I mean, ski areas are so versatile in terms of their basic appearance (from small ski slopes with one or two lifts and a sausage stand to large glacier ski resorts, etc) or with all the needed facilities (the transport rides alone have dozens of varieties (if you take older ones too even more).
I mean, you need to build public transport hubs (that the guests can arrive at the resort at all), accomodation, restaurants, bars, snow making facilities (where you need to build a water supply), the transport rides, facilities for all the ski slope preparations (and for construction during summer), rescue management, avalanche protection management, etc....
Strategy would be a HUGE part of the game too, as you need to plan cautiously where to build water reservoirs for the snow making, where to put the snow making facilities (the cannons, pump stations, etc), where to build which transport ride (you can't build every type of cable car into every kind terrain), how to protect your area against natural threats......etc.
Then what are you doing during the off season (from spring to fall) like bike trails, large playgrounds, hiking trails..... How to make the ski slopes look more natural during summer (as they often look like stone deserts during summer). There could be a huge enviromental aspect in the game (smaller ski areas maybe need to transform because of the lack of snow.....)
It would be like a Planet Coaster, just with the main differences that most of the rides don't have any curves and that you would have significantly greater height differences than you have in Planet Coaster and a LOT more possibilities.
And obviously you would need much bigger maps with a lot more possible heights than we have in these games so far.
Edit: they could add the possibility to build like arenas for ski races, too (like Ski jumping hills, bob slides, biathlon arenas, etc). That you have to build for the winter olympics for example as one challenge 🙈. The more I think about this potential game, the more things come to my mind.
Planet Ski sounds like less of "planet" game and more of generic management sim. For planet ski to be even remotely interesting it would need good management system and that's not really Frontier's strong point.
