    So guys I've been living in the United Arab Emirates for almost 2 and half years and I thought it was about time to do a video on all the amazing reasons there is to teach in Dubai. Everybody knows me as a die-hard Dubai fan, I absolutely love it here and hopefully you will too if you make the big move.
    For me, Dubai has opened up so many amazing experiences and opportunities and it's been such an incredible journey here so far. With all that being said, it's definitely not a walk in the park during the week, hard-work, long hours and stress levels are part of a regular school week but like anything in life nothing worth having is easy. ;) Trust me, it'll all be worth it!
    "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than the by the ones you did do. So throw off for the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. "

    having taught for four years in a Canadian univ. in Qatar, I agree with all she says. If you are single, it is better to be younger since it can take a lot of energy to get out to the various socializing groups there are. The driving is not nearly as bad as rumoured and you get up to speed fast with the driving. Qatar and Dubai are quite safe. You need to remember that you are in someone else's country of course, and while you're welcome to have your own opinions, but you're not there to change the country, except of course through education.

    In some elementary schools the students can be somewhat undisciplined. It sounds like her students are wll-motivated, probably because parents pay for their children to be there, so it wont be a problem. I saved a lot of money, travelled a lot, bought cameras and guitars, and made good friends. Recommended to go to Dubai (or Abu Dhabi) for sure.

    I subscribed and liked with notifications on👍🏻! I’m a year 11 student in Dubai and I want to become a teacher! This is all so true about us and that’s nice to tell them how it’s is😊! What year or grade do you teach? Also, do you allow toilet breaks during class? I stay hydrated so I need the toilet every 2 hours with my bladder😂. I have 2 classes in which the teacher allows toilet privileges we have to sign in and out! The rest and majority we aren’t allowed toilet breaks in class. I mainly go during breaks, lunch, and before school🚽! I only take a toilet break in them 2 classes when I can’t hold it until break and it’s a relief to have a privilege! Most of the time I can hold it until break but it happens occasionally. I don’t use my phone in class at all!

    I taught at the branch campus of a Canadian university in Qatar and they were some of the best four years of my life. MY nursing students were generally respectful, happy, and trustworthy. They came from India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Oman, Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, PALESTINE, Egypt, Sudan, and so on. My eyes were opened to the richness of the culture. Dubai is a bit easier to get around than Doha which is still developing its transportation system. You can easily drive to Oman, which is the most real country on the peninsula. I also travelled to Europe and Turkey. You will find probably that your colleagues also love travel. (I find the world is divided into travellers and non-travellers. The latter get bored with your travel stories).

    This was super helpful and informative! :D My wife has been teaching for a couple of years and we're thinking of making the move to Dubai from UK. I'd love to go into teaching as well, I have masters degree in business but no teaching experience or qualification, however, I do have around 5-6 solid experience within my field Would it be worth taking a crash course with TEFL and applying for next year's application? Or is it unlikely my application would go far without an actual teaching qualification like a PGCE?

    • @aoifeclifford6348
      @aoifeclifford6348  Před 5 lety +4

      Gerard Fierro Hey Gerard, it really depends on your bachelor and how much experience you have. If you have a bachelor of education and no experience, the salary could be anything between 8-11,000 dirham per month and if you have 5 or more years it can be 14,000 dirham upwards but this hugely depends on the school. To convert it into €, I always divide by 4.2.

    • @aoifeclifford6348
      @aoifeclifford6348  Před 5 lety +3

      Aman K. Hey, salaries range differently from school to school depending on your experience, educational background and whether you are a native or non native English speaker. ✨ It can literally range from 8 - 16k , that is my knowledge of it but again it really depends on the school and the person. Living in Dubai is expensive, especially if you go out a lot to brunches and eating , that is what the bulk of money can go to. But if you carpool to school and stay relatively low key during the weekends and budget your grocery shopping,, you could def save....I’m spending around 4,000-5,000 k a month with groceries, bill and going out a dinner 2 a week. Hope this helps!☺️

    I want to teach around the world and Dubai is definitely on my list, I’m starting college this August I’m planning on getting a bilingual degree (I can speak Spanish and English and I would love to learn more languages) do u know if Spanish teachers are needed over there as much as English teachers ? Do u think I can have more opportunities if I have a bilingual degree? Or is it better to go straight for English.

    Hi thank you for your response. So I have another one. If I had a degree, but not in education, and if I had TESOL Course, would it be enough to get a job in Dubai? Would it be accepted ? Because I have been studying at University, but my degree is not in Education. What would you recommend for me ?

      Hi Joao! I don’t know know any people in Dubai who are teaching without an education degree as it’s a very competitive to get a job here even if you have a teaching degree and experience however I do have friends with degrees but they’re non educational who are working in the other Emirates such as Ajman and Sharjah! Hope this helps! You can look up jobs on the website TES ☺️
