    Worked with him at the Gate Theater in the early 70's, a wonderful man, so learned and so talented, and so wonderful to talk to.

    I love these old Mavis Interviews. Always such interesting characters in those days and of course Mavis Nicholson, I think, is excellent(and very pretty).

    Thanks for posting that interview. He was an amazing performer and had an extraordinary presence. It was lovely to hear his voice and see him alive once again. He created his own world and lived in that world of his own making. An absolute inspiration.

    Highly entertaining and interesting; what a marvelous interviewer Mavis was! Why in 2021 people feel motivated to make snide, gratuitous derogatory comments about the sexuality of notable people as though the rest of us were not aware of it or actually cared about it, I really don`t understand....

      Because people back then were much more tolerant - now the rampant global propaganda has put sexuality on the banners of the polarised sides, and as sensitivity and elegance lost their place in society, what is left is the worst feelings being uttered publicly all the time.

    I have never heard of this man before, but those chairs, I do have fond memories of.

    Michael was actually English with absolutely no Irish connections whatsoever, real name Alfred Willmore born in Kensal Green, London.

      @@germainelloyd4336 He seemed to be more comfortable and accepted in Ireland. Had a life long relationship with Hilton Edwards of the Gate Theatre in Dublin.

    Pity Mavis Nicholson didn't choose a dress more in keeping with #1 the chair she was sitting in and #2 in respect for her distinguished interviewee, long known for his personal style. Nicholson looks likes she's wearing a particularly garish dressing gown.

      Why fraud, which is criminal? Half the old Hollywood stars were nothing like the names and personas they used in their careers. MacLiammor wanted to be Irish, what's the harm in that?

      Wanted to be Irish and gave Ireland their greatest theatre in Dublin. That seems to me to be fine qualifications to make him quite an Irishman!!!

      I think that is one of the most delightful things about him. They say if you don’t like the view, change your seat.
      What a clear example of wanting, deciding, doing!
      What the trite saying talks about, he accomplished.
