It’s not about being funny. The meme can be funny or unfunny whether or not the template is used correctly. It’s about saying „this is inherently bad because you didn’t use the template in the ‚right‘ way“. I saw some the comments saying „but it works though“, and that’s my take. Even if you use a template different from its intended meaning, if you manage to make a funny thing, it should be fine (again, not saying that meme was funny, but there shouldn’t be anything inherently wrong with interpreting a template in a new way imo)
