I know, right? You had two and a half games of drilling in that Reapers are fucking unstoppable, and then one just starts moving under your feet. Yeah, it's a baby one, but it's still a fucking Reaper.

Still a baby. There are different classes of Reaper. I believe that one was actually connected to a real Reaper. A lot of their vehicles on the ground aren't actually real sentient Reapers, they're just tools used by the real ones.
So essentially, this was a posse managing to overwhelm a fish person with conventional fire arms. Doesn't do shit for their ability to fight Cthulhu.

I hate it when people say it was the "entire fleet". No,it wasn't the entire fleet. Up until you see those Quarian Cruisers its been the Normandy who was firing. And when the cutscene did roll, you can see its only 3-4 cruisers.
So no,its not the "whole fleet". Because if it was the "whole fleet" then the galaxy might just give up and let the Reapers harvest everyone.

@@cauhscrymdorn2132 Personally I took the destroy ending because if I was Shepard, and took the control of the Reapers, my moral and ethics would've made me protect the galaxy, but at one moment I'll stop watching organics killing each other, and begin the cycle again because it's a useless solution, but the most logical option.
Synthesis is like reaching the final step if evolution, but it sounds too perfect. You can seek for perfection but you can't reach it. If you can, it's not perfection and there is better. I think the civilisations can rise, but then they must collapse. Like the cycle, but naturally. So I prefer to let Sir Charles Darwin do the work on the civilisations growth.

      La Las Have to agree...
When the reaper was taken down to the ground, it was already dying in power. Sovereign was completely alive in the time being. ME3 is such a great story, but the Cerberus Idea would be a lot more appropriate in another story. The story had begun with how the leviathan technology turned against them, so it caused the reapers to begin the cycle after Harbringer was reborn. They were basically around when the Universe began, making them a very ancient race...
The ME1 was chilling to talk to Sovereign and all, but I didn't like that one too much. ME2 was a great story, following roleplay, good point, and other characteristics. ME3 is an astonishing tale, just like ME2, but Sovereign and the reaper collectors were dead, making the plot not as good as the first two...
No offense but I didn't 'hate' the games, but I can't understand some of it due to not playing ME1. So, I understand the 4/5 of the plot of the movie.
The main story is in ME3:
It began on Earth with the following allies of Commander Shepherd and Cerberus during the 'Arrival.'
In the opening moments it is revealed that Earth has recently lost contact with its solar assets and is hastily preparing for the Reaper arrival. The assault comes moments later, and all of Earth's defenses are overwhelmed by the forces. Shepard escapes a burning Vancouver on the Normandy with the help of Admiral Anderson and either Kaidan Alenko or Ashley Williams (which also depends on who survived the vimire), and leaves to gather help from other species while Anderson coordinates human resistance on Earth. Before leaving the SOL System, Shepard is ordered to a base on the planet Mars by Admiral Hackett, who claims that researchers have uncovered something that may give humanity a chance against the Reapers. There, Shepard battles Cerberus forces and encounters former squad-mate Liara T'Soni, who has discovered plans for a Prothean superweapon that may be capable of defeating the Reapers. Before leaving the facility, Shepard speaks with an Illusive Man, who claims he wants to use the Prothean weapon to take control of the Reapers. The Illusive man was already hostile...
Using an advanced Cerberus AI codenamed "Eva", he attempts to steal the data. Shepard, Liara, and Ashley/Kaidan manage to stop Eva, but Ashley/Kaidan are badly injured and are sent to a hospital on the Citadel.
Shepard pleads for help from the Council, but they are reluctant to do so due to their own preoccupations and unwillingness to bet everything on the untested devices. Shepard realizes that the only way to gain other species' assistance will be to help them in their own wars against the Reapers, while at the same time gathering war assets to be used against the Reapers in battle. Eventually, Hackett begins construction on the Prothean weapon and dubs it "The Crucible".
After rescuing the turian primarch from a battle on one of Palaven's small moons, Shepard convenes a war summit, consisting of Shepard, the primarch, and representatives for the salarians and the krogan. The primarch promises Shepard their support for Earth, but only if the krogan agree to help defend Palaven. The summit goes badly at first, with Wreav withholding all krogan support until a cure for the genophage is able to be created and established. The cure is being developed on Sur'Kesh by Mordin Solus (if he survived the events of Mass Effect 2) and a team of scientists. After a series of battles on Tuchanka, Shepard can either cure the genophage or trick Wrex or Wreav into believing it has been successfully cured. If Shepard decides to go forward with the cure, Mordin sacrifices his life at the last moment to counteract a sabotage to it. If Shepard decides not to use the cure, they are forced to shoot Mordin to prevent him from fixing the sabotage-unless Shepard can convince him that it would be best to leave it uncured.
Once krogan and turian support is attained, Shepard learns that Cerberus has launched an assault on the Citadel. Shepard moves to save the councilor of Salarian race, who reveals that Donnel Udina, humanity's councilor, created the attack. Shepard also encounters Kai Leng, a notorious Cerberus assassin, and prevents him from assassinating thecouncilor with the help of Thane Krios or Captain Kirrahe, who are fatally wounded in the attempt. Shepard then moves to stop Udina, who is planning to hand off the two following councilors to Cerberus, and being guarded by Kaidan or Ashley, who has been made a Spectre. Depending on previous choices made during the game, such as visiting them in the hospital, Kaidan or Ashley can side with Shepard and help Shepard take Udina down, or side against Shepard and be killed. Either way, Udina is stopped.
To meet with the admirals of the quarian flotilla, Shepard travels to the Far Rim and discovers that the quarians have gone to war with the geth to reclaim their homeworld, Rannoch. With Tali'Zorah nar Rayya, Shepard boards a geth dreadnought that is broadcasting a short-range Reaper code to the geth. Shepard destroys it and finds Legion (or an identical geth VI, also dependent on the suicide mission), who tells Shepard that the geth, losing the war with the quarians, turned to the Reapers in desperation and were greatly enhanced at the cost of their independent thought, while Legion/the geth VI remains independent due to its unusual amount of active programs. With Legion/the geth VI's help, the geth are pushed back to a Reaper base which is projecting another Reaper signal. The source of the signal is discovered to be an actual Reaper, and with the help of an orbital strike from the quarian fleet, Shepard destroys it. With the Reaper control gone but the superior upgrades still viable, Shepard must choose either to allow the geth to upgrade and become fully individualized and free, in which case they retaliate against the quarian flotilla, annihilating it and causing Tali to commit suicide, or to shut down the geth consensus, which in turn allows the quarians to destroy the geth fleet and end them as a race. Alternatively, depending on past decisions, Shepard can allow the geth to upgrade while convincing the quarians that the geth do not want to fight them, making peace between the two and gaining support for Earth from both sides.
The asari councilor informs Shepard of a Prothean artifact on the asari homeworld, Thessia, which may be the key to finishing the Crucible. However, when the Normandy arrives on Thessia, the planet is already under heavy Reaper attack. Shepard must defend Thessia while simultaneously gathering information on the "Catalyst", an essential tool for the Crucible's effectiveness. The artifact the asari councilor referred to is revealed to be a Prothean beacon housing a VI called Vendetta. As it is about to reveal information regarding the Catalyst, Kai Leng arrives and steals the VI program. Deciding to take the fight to the Illusive Man, Shepard follows Leng to the Sanctuary research facility on the human colony Horizon, which Cerberus has been using to research methods of controlling the Reapers. There, Shepard saves Miranda Lawson (or her sister Oriana, if Miranda is dead) from her father and Leng in the research facility. Either of the sisters gives Shepard the location of Cerberus headquarters, which, with the help of Admiral Hackett and an Alliance fleet, Shepard assaults, killing Leng in the process but failing to capture the Illusive Man. After reacquiring Vendetta, Shepard learns that the Citadel itself is in fact the Catalyst, and that the Illusive Man has now become fully indoctrinated by the Reapers. Because of his indoctrination, the Illusive Man has informed the Reapers of the Citadel's pivotal function in the activation of the Crucible. In response, the Reapers capture the Citadel and move it to a defensible position above Earth, massing their fleets around it.
Under Hackett and Shepard's leadership, the combined fleets of all the races of the galaxy launch a massive final attack on the Reaper forces above Earth and on its surface in a last-ditch effort to retake the Citadel and use it to activate the Crucible. After landing, Shepard assists in an assault on London, at the center of which there is a beam that connects to the orbiting Citadel. Reunited with Anderson, Shepard eventually begins the final push to the Citadel beam, but the attack force is decimated by Harbinger, the oldest and most powerful of the Reapers. During the charge, Shepard's squadmates are injured and evacuated. Shepard continues the charge alone, but is severely wounded in a blast from Harbinger, barely making it to the beam. Once on the Citadel, Shepard hears from Anderson, who also made it to the beam. Finding Anderson under the influence of the indoctrinated Illusive Man, Shepard succeeds in stopping the Cerberus leader, but Anderson is fatally wounded in the process. After opening the Citadel arms so that the Crucible can dock Shepard is transported to the pinnacle of the Citadel.
A childlike AI appears proclaiming it is the Catalyst, and the creator of the Reapers. It reveals that the Reaper cycle is an attempt to prevent organic life from destroying itself by creating synthetic life. The Catalyst believes that synthetic lifeforms would inevitably destroy all organic life if allowed to develop, so those species that have attained the capacity to develop synthetic life must be selectively culled for the good of all organic life. The Catalyst characterizes the harvest as an ascendance, wherein advanced organic races are preserved in Reaper form and the opportunity is created for more primitive species to rise, evolve, and advance. In every cycle, the Catalyst studies the evolution of these organic species as well as their technological progression, with the ultimate goal of finding a solution to the conflict between synthetic and organic life.
Having lost faith in the Reapers' ability to achieve this purpose and, as now altered by the Crucible, the Catalyst gives Shepard three options of defeating them: control the Reapers, destroy the Reapers and all synthetic life, or synthesize all organic and synthetic life. Each choice results in Shepard's apparent death and the destruction of the entire mass relay network. London suffers varying degrees of damage and the Normandy crash lands on an alien planet. If the player's Effective Military Strength is high enough and Shepard chooses to destroy the Reapers, the game ends with a cutscene of Shepard taking a gasping breath from within a pile of rubble, hinting at survival. In a post-credits cutscene, an old man known as the "Stargazer" tells Shepard's story to a young boy, implying that Shepard's legacy lives on far into the future.
      Extended Cut
The Extended Cut adds a scene with Shepard's squad being critically wounded by Harbinger during the push to beam, forcing Shepard to call in the Normandy to extract them before pushing on and also being injured. It also shows the mass relays as being heavily damaged by the Crucible's firing instead of being destroyed as per the original ending. Additional scenes and dialogue have been added to clarify events and resolve perceived plot holes. The flashbacks of characters after Shepard's decision have also been fixed so now the first will be that of Joker, the second someone who died over the course of the game, and the third whoever was Shepard's love interest.
The three original ending choices have been modified to include a varying narration provided by Admiral Hackett (Destroy), a Reaper artificial intelligence modeled after Shepard (Control), or EDI (Synthesis) along with slides showing the impact the player's choices have had upon the galaxy, as well as the fate of surviving characters. If the player has a sufficiently high ems score, the surviving crew of the Normandy is shown holding a memorial service for Shepard before repairing the damage from the crash and launching into space. If the player chose to destroy the Reapers and survived the Crucible's blast, a squadmate or love interest will refrain from putting their name up on the Normandy Memorial Wall and will instead smile hopefully.
The Extended Cut also provides a fourth ending, triggered by either refusing the Catalyst's choices, or attempting to kill it when the player resumes control of Shepard. Consequently, the Crucible is not fired and the war ends with the systematic destruction of all space-faring civilizations, and the continuation of the Reaper cycle. The scene then shifts to an unknown garden world in the future where one of Liara's beacons has been discovered. Dialogue in the post-credits scene reveals that the knowledge gained from the beacon ultimately led to the next cycle's victory over the Reapers.
Here's some information regarding sizes of Reapers:
Harbinger: The first Reaper ever created, Harbinger appears to be of a unique subtype; AI identifies it as being the largest Reaper in the Reaper race, and its design differs notably from the Capital Ship subtype, having only four main legs and multiple glowing "eyes". Exactly how much more powerful it is than a normal Reaper capital ship is unknown in the game
Capital Ship: Also known as Sovereign-class, the two-kilometer-long Ships are the most well-known Reaper subtype. Their main weapon is a spinal mounted "magnetohydrodynamic" cannon with a yield of 152 to 450 kilotons of TNT, which dwarfs the main gun of an Everest-class Alliance dreadnought. No known ship, not even a dreadnought, has been known to survive a hit from this weapon. Capital Ships are also armed with multiple cannons in their "tendrils" capable of shearing through most opposing vessels in a single hit, a point defense system (similar to the GARDIAN systems favored by organics) for anti-fighter and anti-projectile purposes, and are capable of unleashing swarms of Reaper Oculi Drones to counter-attack against fighter-sized craft. They are extremely durable, capable of taking the continuous and simultaneous fire of up to five dreadnoughts before they start to lose their kinetic barriers.
Troop Transport: Troop Transports vary in length between 200 meters and one kilometer and are used to transport husks to unconquered worlds and bring the victims of a homeworld to Reaper Processing Centers.
Processor: Centers for massive DNA harvesting. Like the Troop Transports, Processors lack sentience and are controlled remotely by their actual creators: The Reapers.
Destroyer: Destroyers are only 160 meters in height, but possess a formidable capacity for destruction despite their reduced stature, with their main gun easily capable of destroying cruisers in seconds. Unlike Capital Ships, they have four main legs, along with five jointed appendages encircling their "head". The frontal plates of a Destroyer can fold to the sides, exposing a powerful beam weapon. They are used to escort the capital ships, destroying smaller targets such as frigates. On the ground, they are capable of unfolding their legs and walking to support the husks, becoming extremely powerful heavy walkers. They are nigh-immune to ground vehicle fire and not at all fragile in space, but a cruiser is noted to be able to take out a Destroyer fairly quickly.

I fell a bit sorry for this Reaper. Its not Harbinger or Sovereign, its clearly less intelligent and more dogmatic. The thing doesn't seem to have a choice in its own beliefs, its so monotone and hazy on the details it seems that its lack of explanation is more likely because it itself doesn't know. Like a drone ant, it died sadly because it couldn't comprehend why Shepard fought it, it just thought it was doing the right thing.

I'm just gonna say, when comparing the voices of all the Reaper types, Harbinger has to be the least imposing. Granted the Reapers are supposed to be a mix of synthetic and organic creation, but when I think of a race of near indestructible machines that have obliterated the Milky Way for thousands of cycles, I'd say Sovereign and the Ranch Reaper (this one) sound like they fit that description. Their voices can practically make the ground shake, and every word coming out of their mouths...well, voice modules, is to not be taken lightly, not even by Shepard.

Sovereign pretty much explains their reasons, however, by saying this:
"WE IMPOSE ORDER ON THE CHAOS OF ORGANIC EVOLUTION." That hinted that they are meant to keep organic civilizations in check.

I still haven't finished Andromeda but 20 hours in, I really think the the series has gone past its peak. Hopefully I'm wrong by the time I reach the end of Andromeda but I'm not optimistic. So far, Andromeda couldn't possibly be further away from the greatness of ME1, 2 and 3. It's an all-out borefest and the dialogue and character relationships couldn't possibly be more boring if they tried. A big low point for what was previously an incredible franchise.

The synthetic garbage was tossed in because Mass Effect 3 was supposed to be entinction of all or human reaper.

That final strike on the Reaper especially at that range would've killed Shepard aswell. Good thing it's only a game.

The dialog in the end reminds me of the Borg, "We bring order to chaos" (Borg Queen said that). And "It is inevitable" = "Resistance is Futile".

That thing is the equivalent of a glorified Scarab that barely glasses planets. Halo is way more hardcore.

Killer Joy Halo is much more technologically advanced. A UNSC super MAC or even the Infinity could annihilate any Reaper in one shot. The Covenant fleets are much deadlier.

Tiberiu Marian lol no, Dreadnoughts in ME fire slugs that are 4× the power of hiroshima every 60 seconds. Reapers take dozens of hits from those until their is even a dent in their kinetic barriers. This reaper destroyer here just took 3 concentrated hits from an entire species' thousands of ships, a destroyer is the smallest type of reaper. Capital ships are 2km long.

Ghost Squad Gaming Mass Effect mass accelerator rounds are actually relatively weak. They only deal a few kilotons of force. Standard MAC rounds in Halo deal several megatons of force. Super MACS deal like 50 Gigatons. One Halo super MAC is literally more powerful than thousands of Mass Accelerator rounds from Mass effect.

Damn those things are tough, it did fall after the first precision strike which was a bit odd. But after it recovered, it took half a dozen hits to the firing chamber and could stand against orbital bombardment from the whole Quarian fleet (or maybe just the heavy fleet, anyways) before falling over. It even talked to Shepard in great length after all that. And that thing was only a destroyer.

-> Shells could have had casing or mass effect fields to prevent ignition in orbit
-> You can calculate how gravity will affect the trajectory and aim accordingly. Orbital bombardment /IS/ possible. Look up tungsten rod orbital bombardment. You can produce a nuclear-scale explosion using a solid chunk of metal moving fast enough.

Would've been nice to have two phases to this fight, the first being to maybe slow it down so it won't get to you by shooting and breaking its legs when you are on the geth craft, while you wait for the Migrant fleet to get a lock onto the Reaper. The second phase being the fight we have in the game.

  • @juree555
    @juree555 Před 12 lety +2

When Destroyer starts to shoot (except for the first time), strafe one side and then change the direction while aiming the laser. You will avoid his line of fire, and when you are not moving, you will aim faster as well. Repeat this process until he gets really close - then just stand and aim. You will shoot faster than he do and ultimately kill him :)
This is a little tricky at first, but don't get frustrated.

@GZilla311 Also there is a short storyline to unlock only in the dlc version that everytime that Reapers come to our galaxy there is always a new heroe that reborns to fight and defeat the Reapers time to time, since the past 30 millions years, But it's not everyy single 50.000 he has the faith lucky on his side, once he reborns in different races, probably the creator of the Reapers, just like Legion was the first geth being created and smartest and gave all the knowledge to the free Geth.
