- CLIPSET takes us back to the 2000 NBA draft, when, at the ages of 18 and 19, Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson were drafted by the Clippers, a franchise severely struggling to find an identity and success in a town owned by the Shaq-and-Kobe Lakers. For two straight seasons, D Miles, Q Rich, Corey Maggette, Lamar Odom, Keyon Dooling and Elton Brand transformed what we knew the Clippers to be, bringing energy and excitement to a situation that desperately needed it. Not only did Q and D change the game on the court, but off the court they were hand picked by the GOAT himself and became two of the youngest members of Team Jordan. Q and D take us through the culture shift that they started in the NBA and reveal how two kids, one from the Southside of Chicago, the other from East St. Louis, left a lasting impression on the league, the fans, and the next generation of hoopers, two taps at a time.

The white Odom Clippers jersey went double platinum in the hood lol
I been watching this documentary for 1min. I gotta stop cause I feel some kinda way, for the last 20 years these two guys have been the most impactful athletes and role models in my life. They changed my life, made me a life long Clippers fan and I am so down for them and all they been through. God bless Q and Dmiles.
LMMFAO
I been going to Clippers games since 95 in the Sports Arena. This team was a legendary era. The energy in the city was CRAZY.
Furthest back I remember is Mark Jackson...
Me too. We got free clippers tickets all the time. Back When they had Danny manning.
@@danielzavala2174 Where the old, dark L.A. Sports Arena once stood, now stands LAFC's beautiful Soccer-specific 🏟 "BMO Stadium"... which is hosting a HUGE GAME tonight, Champions League SemiFinals, 2nd Leg!
Legendary era???? LMMFAO
First nba draft I ever watched as a kid, and I remember staying up late just to see the sportcenter highlights of d miles catchin oops and do the knucklehead with Q rich. Made my childhood epic
No lie, that odom and d. miles jersey around 2000-2001 was in almost every rap video.
📺😀
Y’all were real trendsetters. Thank you. I first started watching basketball that 2000 clippers season. I got a book with all your autographs for the 2001 season. Great times. Love y’all.
I had that Lamar Odom jersey back then
@@georgew3569 I had a red road dmiles and a home LO those were good days man
@@lucianodadon7822 I still have the SLAM Magazine with them on the cover
These guys are really Brothers So much admiration and respect for one another 💯
I need the Lamar Odom interview/reunion. No tabloid topics… ALL HOOPS
Just dropped
Darius Miles was my favorite dunker on that era, nobody just dunks like him back then, hella athletic and sad that these new fans didn't see him play
We need more lil documentaries like these of teams ppl maybe forgot about
So much respect to clipset. After Iverson and the fab 5, I think they are the most influential as far as Swag on the court, headbands, young and flashy, crazy alleys. Super salute
Mannnnn I remember tuning into LA Sideline on ESPN every single week. I saved up lunch money for a D Miles Clippers jersey
D. Miles did the Wayans brothers handshake on draft night 😂
This team was cold as hell especially on NBA LIVE
Mannnnnn this was too short. I need more stories about this team 🤟🏾🤟🏾🔥🔥🔥
This was dope asf especially hearing how poppin d miles was at the time i from Stl so just hearing his story when rarely ppl from my city or east stl get an opportunity
I was a laker fan because of Kobe and Shaq. But I rocked with the clips because of y’all. Still two of my favorite players of all time and that 2000-2004 team is definitely one of my favorite teams ever
Damn that Q Rich jam off of 2 feet at the beginning was clean af 🔥
He used to catch all oops every now and then his first few years
The head pat on David Stern is Crazy 😭😭
We must live together as brothers or perish together as fools.
Love thy neighbour
That’s a
Great quote
The '02 Clippers would be a good addition to 2K #Vintage
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😂😂 For what?? The defense of that team had to be a combined 0. Plus no ability to hit clutch shots. 3's wasn't A1 so ppl could pack the paint.
"They made losing look fun" B.Davis
@@jehoshualewis2525 That Clippers squad would be dope in a video game tho
Born and raised in Gary, IN and I fw the clipset off the strength of being from the Midwest. ✊🏾
Love this right here! There are so many more memorable teams than only the very best of a time period. I remember this team very well! A young teenage fan thought the Clips and Bulls of that era would be the next ones up. Then I remembered who owned those teams lmao
Damn that layup Nate did shows how nice his bunnies were! Got damn! He played like he was 6’4
Love these two from Clippers day to now! I have D Miles authentic Jersey in white and then bought the Jordan 17s. Love those shoes
Great piece! That Clippers team was 🔥🔥🔥! That 2000s run of basketball was EVERYTHING!
Hoops in LA was crazy at that time! I use to see these guys at Fox Hills mall all the time!
These brothers came along way ❤ glad to see it
They need a full 3 part reunion with the footage. A lot people forget how the D. Miles - Q Clipper teams really started that run and gun style post-Jordan.
Hands down my fav sports podcast. I love yall. Drop a top 50 clipset plays all time. 2001-2004
6:53 is the most legendary shit I have seen in a min , shout out to D miles
Q & D… I’ve been rockin w/ y’all for years bruh! What I enjoyed most about y’all run was the youth injection to the league y’all produced. Y’all were competitive nightly, exciting and played together! The league didn’t really appreciate y’all but real hoop fans know what you fellas did for the culture. Respect Fellas!
Man even tho I rocked with Mike and the bulls and then kobe and the lakers...I couldn't help but rock with you dudes along with LO I had a authentic Dmiles road red jersey I remember getting the jordan 16s because i saw yall playing in them the black toe and the white and navy trendsetters fr...I wore 21 all through school as well salute to yall boys fr
Such a cool look at my favorite all time clip squad… Q and D been putting out excellent content as far as podcast go! They keep that same energy
You guys brought happiness and joy to the game ... thank you!!!
Why I'm Clipper Fan until today
Loved those teams! Was always hoping they'd make the playoffs. Just that experience was needed. This team as a whole would kill in todays league.
Woulda been better though if they included the rest of the gang
Man I’m looking at the team history the jump in their wins when Miles and q rich got drafted there is major. Then when miles left that drop was significant.
Have they ever had Keyon Dooling on here? He was exciting to watch too
I'm a life long Hawks fan, but those Knucklehead Clippers were my go to on NBA 2K on Dreamcast. They should've kept that team together at least 5 years. 🤦🏿
I had a Andre miller jersey during this time. When you had to have a jersey in the early 2000’s it had to be different. And a clippers jersey was not rare but uncommon
Youll look like very down to earth guys!! Humble.. dudes!!
Yall made a considerable impact
Yo, yo, yo, what's crackin' my man? You wanna talk about the Clippers? Now that's a team that had me going crazy back in the day. I mean, I know people ain't used to hearing about the Clippers being good, but back in 2000 through 2002, they were straight up FIRE.
We're talking about a squad that had more flavor than a pack of Skittles. You had Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson, two young guns who were straight up ballers. And then you had Lamar Odom, Elton Brand, and Corey Maggette, three dudes who could straight up hoop. That's a lineup that could take on anyone, even the Monstars from Space Jam.
But it wasn't just the players that made the Clips so dope, it was their style of play. They were fast, they were furious, and they were not afraid to take risks. They were like the Vin Diesel of basketball teams, always living life a quarter mile at a time.
They were hoopin' like it was a sold-out arena, making moves like it was a hit record, and scoring points like it was a bag of cash. They were the real deal, the trap stars of the NBA, and I'm giving them the respect they deserve like they're the keys to my spaceship. So if you don't believe me, just go back and watch some of their highlights and see how they were ballin' harder than a superstar rapper on tour.
Do not fail to mention the name Ralph Lawler.
D Miles is still the best high basketball player I've ever seen in person! I seen him jump over a kid (poor fella) in a playoff game!!!
As incredible as this is, where is Lamar, man? The story in its entirety can’t be told without him.
Lamar was too high.
Lamar at his momma house literally 😂
Was in high school vack then..the clippers definitely was n y favorite team to play with in 2k on dreamcast
Cant forget Earl Boykins and Sean Rooks/Cherokee Parks coming off the bench... not much winning, but fun games.
I remember Miles average 9.9 points with Clips
I remember Q finally Killing in 05 with the suns.
Y’all ain’t talk about Corey and LO enough. Still enjoyed tho.
Man o man, them boys were a REAL PROBLEM for the League. They were young, exciting, talented and talking shit! This was before it was cool to be cool. They set trends that still exist, and were the benchmark used for todays young NBA rosters. Without their Clipper influence the League wouldn’t be what it is has become. Shout out to East Saint and the GO!
Probably my favorite team of all time!!! Cut so short. . .
Legendary for my culture
Loved that clippers team
Thank you so much for blessing usssss
I wish i could have seen these guys play on tv or live.
My era of basketball 🏀 I truly miss it 😢
Footage of high school Nate Rob and his team was fire
Really fun team to watch. Props
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 super dope. S/o QRich and DMiles man keep going ya thing.
This was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 we need the full documentary. Get some of that footage from the Young Gunz DVD, some old personal footage, interviews, and 💥💥💥 BOOM
The clippers front office was very dumb to breakup that team. Y’all were so much fun to watch!
Bruh if they had the owner now back then. . . Ain't no telling how far they would've went.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 loved this
Love this piece.. I remember the celebrations mane I was doing this in 6 grade lol and I’m from Houston lol that Shid made it to the Houston lol
I used to ball with these boys on 2k
Clippers record
00-01: 31-51
01-02: 39-53
02-03: 27-55
03-04: 28-54.
Please tell me why losing being celebrated?
You missed the whole point of this . These guys were young in a grown man's game and was still respected by others . Also like they said the team was getting split up after 02 . Anything after that didn't matter.
@@Mastablendz nah you trying to say losing is ok. This was a celebration of a team that never achieved. I use to have a d miles clippers jersey then got his cleveland jersey when he was traded. I got his 2001 rookie game still recorded while always using them in nba live. I was a fan. But as i am older. That clippers team was really a laughing stock. Just a bunch of kids playing not caring
@@Modeek6 starts with the owner and the front office. They had an NBA team practicing at a HS in watts. Damn near gave away tickets to clippers games. What else is there to do if the owner didn’t care to invest in the team, than go out there and get them highlight plays. Clearly paid off getting endorsements. Clippers were laughing stock of NBA but during the Dmiles/Q/LO/Brand years it was at least enjoyable to watch
@@nexusvillegas3219 they didn’t practice in watts they practiced at southwest CC on imperial and western.
@@Modeek639-43
D Miles should've been a all star
Lamar Odom was one the best talents in the history of the NBA He was unselfish to a fault
Wow so we can make any narrative we want. I remember these guys very well. Not enough for a doc though
Shoutout to D. Gates in hs pic. CC Hills finest.
Respect
Low-key this was one of the best teams on NBA Street
I remember, Q and miles on ryan Reynolds first movie Van Wilder
These clippers would be great in the league today. Had a team built for it
Good times man good times!!!!!!!
That’s crazy.. you win 38 games this era.. you making the playoffs 😂😂😂😂
This should be longer or y’all should do a pod on it
Put this team on 2k 3rd tier team .. teams like this should be on the game for 90 babies fasho
Still have my D. Miles jersey.
Legends
The Guys Jo!!!
wtf Andre Miller smh
you could of give clips a hint you didn't want to come.
That year he played was like,
"damn, Darius for this?" wtf
Nick Tha Quick said that they were down 30 but still celebrating 😂.
That clippers team needs a doc
FINALLY!!!!
They Need to put this team in 2k … along w the Bron rookie cavs before the trade. W Dejuan Wagner also D miles, and Ricky Davis…..
Man, I loved these Clipper teams, Odom was easily the man on this team for me but the youth and fun that these guys played with was really something different back then, they weren't that good but we all knew when the Clippers were on TV, dunks and hoops galore, Elton was better than Odom, I forgot about big E.
31, 38, and 27 wins...biting peoples heads off? They were toothless.
Y’all would’ve been some dogs with Melo man OMG 😂
🏆🏆🥇
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
In Chicago the Roosevelt rams we Knuckled up in middle school bro … Jordan 17 is most definitely the D miles and Q junts ofng
✊🏼✊🏼
💯💯
They were bad but so much fun to watch. They had everyone in the city doing the 2 daps on the forehead after they scored. Looking at this team on paper all these years later, they had a SQUAD.
