  • So my top 5 polyester tennis strings video got a lot of views and I've been getting requests to do a top 5 multifilaments video. Unfortunately, I don't use multis that often so I decided to do a top 5 non-polyester strings video. Have you ever tried these strings? Let us know your top 5 non-polys in the comments.

    Damn what a good review. You are very underrated sir. Everything is spot on.

    Thank you . I definetly think you would like NXT Power over the regular NXT. It is much crispier. Stiffer. Without being uncomfortable. Also gives more power and depth. But the string bed becomes much more consistent and predictable. Which would you say is the most muted and controlled, regular Nxt, Velocity, X1, or NRG²?

    Prince Premier Touch is worth the $ and/or wait. Tourna Quasi-Gut Armor is good, also Solinco Vanquish. Gosen makes the AK Pro, and that’s a good string. I got some of the CX but haven’t tried it yet. I like the Klip Gut the best, then Wilson, then Babolat. Haven’t tried Luxilon gut. It’s ok to have your #2 as a blend…strings are finicky, and the main drawback I find with multi is spin production. Frankly, for my game, multi is barely better than synthetic gut, which can be a bit stiffer but don’t notch as much. Syn gut just looks and feels budget. Gut is best, but tricky to string and a bit more vulnerable.

    Thank your for yet another great review. Two questions: would you play a tournament with a full bed Triax?
    Also, what tension would you recommend for Triax in Head Speed Pro?

    • @opencourt808
      @opencourt808  Před 10 měsíci

      Honestly, I probably would play a tournament with Triax. It doesn't fray as easily as other multis so it'll maintain spin potential better. I would string Triax a couple pounds lower than other nylon multis. For a Speed Pro, I would string around 54 lbs.

    Another good one is Pro Supex Spiral Flex synthetic gut. It's hard to find, but is very nice and makes a good cross. Also, Prince Lightning Pro is a multi very similar to my favorite Head Velocity MLT 17g. The bonus is it comes in around $9, as MLT has gone to $11. Careful when buying because Prince has a few strings with the name Lightning, so it's confusing. I have tried them all and only Lightning Pro is the best and recommended by me. Actually, both MLT and Lightning Pro make great full bed string jobs, too. They both offer great feel and decent spin. The fact that they play softer also allows for higher stringing tensions to add control without losing good ball pocketing and great feel on your shots. My last is also a good performing and low cost syn gut, Wilson Synthetic Gut Power. Also a good cross that works well with poly mains.

      Thank you for your thoughts. I actually recently uploaded a video comparing Head Velocity MLT and Prince Lightning Pro. It's exactly as you mentioned. Both are very good multis. Velocity MLT was in my top 5 non-polys but after trying Prince Lightning Pro, I actually like it better because of the crisper response. Please check out the video if you have time. I'd love to know your thoughts. Thank you

    gut/poly is the best set up Ive tried,,, its got everything spin power touch, just doesnt last long on humid climates, VS gut is the best Ive tried I agree, but currently using klip to save some $

    • @tennnis498
      @tennnis498 Před rokem

      I like Klip Legend best of the guts, but would like to try Luxilon. Klip now has various gut choices (Tour, Armor, Black) which I haven’t tried yet. I don’t play with gut year-round but when it’s nice and dry outside, I may put some in again. Otherwise, I use multi and syn gut, and some poly in the crosses for spin and snap.

      @@tennnis498 I don't like the Klip gut at all. Just didn't feel responsive and plush as VS Gut or Wilson Gut. Klip is much cheaper though, but it's not worth it to me. I'd rather pay more for VS Gut or just use a good synth gut like OG Sheep Micro in a hybrid.

    Thank you for all the great videos! A question: how much higher would you string the gosen synthetic gut you recommended compared to a soft poly? I'm a fairly flat hitter and thinking of trying it in my Vcore Pro 97D after watching your video!

    • @opencourt808
      @opencourt808  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I typically string stiffer polys around 52 and softer polys around 54. So with the Gosen syn gut, I would probably go around 55-56 lbs. Thank you and hope you like the string.

      @@opencourt808 I tried the gosen syn gut full bed at 56/52 tension and it played great! Better than I expected on a full bed. My serves were good with it, topspin/slice groundstrokes too. Won't comment on volleys since that's my biggest weakness so whatever I say wouldn't count for much 😂 Thank you for this recommendation!

    What tenssion would you use in the full bed of Triax mains and crosses?

    • @opencourt808
      @opencourt808  Před rokem +1

      If I'm using a 18x20, 50lbs. If it's 16x19, 53-55lbs depending on how open it is

    Hi. How would you compare Head Velocity MLT to Gosen AK Pro CX. I use Velocity in my crosses. However, this Gosen string looks better than some Polys as a really good, arm friendly cross.

      Do you feel the velocity mlt is a better cross than the OG sheep micro super? Have you tried Toalson T8?

    Would you hybrid the lynx tour 17g with velocity 17g or what is your favorite hybrid and do you put the poly in the mains or crosses?

    • @opencourt808
      @opencourt808  Před rokem

      If it was Lynx Tour and Velocity, I would put the Lynx tour in the mains. Usually I would put poly in the mains but if I was using natural gut, I would put the poly in the cross because I really want the feel from the gut to stand out

    Can I use any polyester string in the mains with Triax in the crosses? Is there something I shouldn't go with? What are your thoughts?

    • @opencourt808
      @opencourt808  Před rokem +1

      If you're putting polyester in the mains, there aren't any restrictions or precautions you need to worry about. The issue is when you put polyester in the crosses. You don't want to put a sharp poly in the cross because it will saw into the softer mains and snap them.

    • @geramos109
      @geramos109 Před rokem

      @@opencourt808 Curious. Is not better to put the multi in the main? The poli will allways cut in the soft string but if you put the multi in the cross you will notch the crosses preventing the mains to move.

    Please don't take it otherwise but X1 biphase and NRG are not on this list due it's prices whereas the vs touch is at the top !!
    Don't you think you are contradicting yourself ?

    • @opencourt808
      @opencourt808  Před rokem

      I can see why you would think that. But I personally feel the VS touch is worth the price but the Biphase and the NRG are not. Nothing compares to the feel of natural gut for me. Also, I have never broken VS gut whereas Biphase and NRG break in a week for me. As long as you take care of gut, it will last a while.
