Vegito could've beaten him. At one point Vegito has a part of Buu's head tentacle in his hand. When Buu gestures to get the tentacle back Vegito tosses it then blasts it. Buu is forced to grow a new one as that piece is permanently destroyed. The only reason Vegito didn't kill Buu was because he was on a rescue mission. As for everyone else, it's hard to say. It's one thing for a character to claim they can beat him, it's a whole other thing to actually pull it off. It wasn't dumb to fight Buu. It was dumb to fight Buu without a solid plan.

Or quickly warp Vegeta to safety so he and Dende can heal him faster and warp him back to battle. If Vegeta can Zenkai boost after being healed, he maybe able to defeat Kid Buu alone Kibitoshin was actually an excellent support character that was wasted Another wasted opportunity was actually SS3 Vegeta Although it’s true Vegeta later rejects the transformation, he in his dead state, could have the stamina to use the form at full strength Goku should have taught Vegeta how to transform as he at that point mastered SS2 and could have learned SS3 and defeat Kid Buu himself Another solution was actually Piccolo, although it’s no gurantee Piccolo could have assimilated with other Namekians temporarily in an emergency It may not have enough power to beat Kid Buu, but who’s to say? Although Vegeta’s plan of the Soirit Bomb was a good idea, even if they had greater power than Kid Buu, it’s hard to destroy every single cell Of his The spirit Bomb would target his evil ki and eradicate every cell of himself But there was still some ways why it would have failed Kid Buu with Instanteous Movement could have warped out of the way when Goku through the Spirit Bomb If possible he could have used his Candy Beam to turn the attack into a harmless candy He could while holding Vegeta hostage, absorb him, and it would been all over It’s why either teaming up, using Fusion, reviving Gohan, or have Dead SS3 Vegeta fight him, would been better strategies
There was way to defeat Buu. They could have used the evil containment wave, seal Buu up for good. However, there's a problem with the Saiyans with their pride.
Now that you mention it... Goku had many opportunities to charge up a spirit bomb. He could have been making one on Kaioshin's planet while Gohan fought Buu...
Charging up a SB on the kiaoshin planet would not have worked for 2 reasons. Goku can't travel from planet to planet holding the spirit bomb. Secondly the Spirit Bomb would have been weak ass hell with very minimum sources to get Genki which is life energy not ki.
Na it wouldn't work. He can't travel with it. Now if they brought gohan there while they were fighting kid buu then that would be a better time to involve him.
How was fighting him dumb that dont make sense you saying they should have used the spirit bomb right away like Vegeta didnt turn into dust with his final explosion just for Buu to heal from being literal dust particles. In the manga Goku said he could have killed not only Fat Buu but also kid Buu if he didnt waste his energy early in the fight. Thats why Vegeta was trying to stall for 1 minute but the problem was Goku ssj3 was draining his power quicker than he could recover it his ssj3 just dont have the stamina to keep up a long fight. Once Goku realized he couldnt recover his stamina thats when the Spirit Bomb came into question
I'm just looking back on everything. And goku stated that in the manga but in the anime he wasn't entirely sure. And in fact he had more confidence in fusion than he did with ssj3. And kid buu was toying with them the whole time goku had no chance.. buu came back from smoke. From freaking smoke. When gotenks blew him up completely. He came back from thin air. How can you beat someone that comes back from smoke? Unless you have an attack strong enough to completely vaporize him. Now don't get me wrong I enjoyed the buu saga this is just a second look. Buu was too broken to fight head to head. He just kept coming back over and over.
