@maneeshamukhi I filled out renewal passport application online on Dec 31 2022 application went through successfully. Today is Jan 30th but the status still shows "received". I choose the expediate service. Any idea when the status changes to "in progress"?

I had to mail mine in. I did not qualify for the online renewal. They received my passport on the 12/15 and I have the routine service (6-9 weeks). It’s now 1/30 and my application still says “in process”. I did pay for the 1-2 day delivery for them to return it so hopefully receive it soon. It’s going on week 7 now. I’ll keep you all posted.

My passport came in under 1 month, still waiting on passport card. I paid for expedited service and mailed in old passport with the form all via snail mail USPS. The office in Philadelphia received it per USPS tracking over weekend At end of March on 24th, New passport came in Saturday April 23 2023. So about 5 weeks Expedited and paid with Money orders.
So we can pay by money order? Do we just mail it along with application and picture?

What a US Passport backlog mess ! Co-workers just fell under the 14 day international travel mark and called in real early made an appointment for expediate pps !
They had applied in later Nov 2022 for online renewal for four in the family and never got any emails or feedback ! They had to go into emergency mode on this one and did get all four pps made in one day ! I myself applied online in early Jan and have no feedback or updates yet ! My 14 day international travel window will be mid March here !
Poor Dept of State customer service ! I would like to see how they actually process US pp renewals from the database to the physical book making !
Hand processed with limited machines ! 350 million of us living here and PPP government ! I have seen and been with others at their countries pp service centers and they are way better with cheerful staff and plenty of machines to create them !
omg.... i applied online january 8 and no response.... no update, still says received
I submitted online with expedited service on 12/16/2022. Today is 3/14/2023. Almost 3 months...still in process. I called and waited for more than 2 hours and gave up. Today I called again. I talked to three different people and they kept passing my call to other. It has been two hours and I am listening to the waiting music and the recorded voice. I am really curious this department or service is actually run by U.S. Gov't
Try contacting congress and/or senator and maybe that could work. I believe you can get the expedited fee reimbursed if it took longer than the timeline.
Just stick to the normal method for now
applied renew my passport online 3weeks and1 day ago but sill status is received even if pay $60.00 dollars to get expedite.....
go somewhere else, no offense they take your money, but you can't get updates, if you go to Facebook thier site says even thier expedited service has not arrived, and the site is always down, if you call no one answers,
Online renewal system is down until next month.
Apparently there is a glitch where those who renewed on Februrary 6-13 are not able to get their status. If your status says not available, state department is working to get your passport out. If you need a passport in the next two weeks (28 days if you need a VISA for this trip), then contact them to get an in person appointment at an agency.
I applied for my son on February 6th it's now 5 weeks and they told me that I will receive the passport in 3 to 5 weeks but have not received. I paid $160 for the passport. When I check online the application status is not available 😢

@@bibimathew6381 You can call them at 2 weeks before but you need to do it right at 8 AM EST or a minute/two before. Another option is to try and contact your senator and/or congress person but not sure if that works.
I went to the website page as shown (1:26). Then under the block "I already have a passport", the second option "I'm an adult renewing online" is missing (or removed). Can you please give your insight on this? Thanks
You need to renew by mail using a DS 82.
It is not good process
After 11 weeks still my in process status is not updated. I still not receive passport. People who applied by mail got it faster. I called but they don't have any info either. Don't apply online until process get stable.

If you have to renew your passport it should not be bad If you are expediting it. Mines was received on 05/03/2023 and received it in the mail 05/17/2023. I mailed my expired passport in.

Online Passport renewals are back! State department will be launching a new beta online passport renewal system similar to the old one where you can renew online and upload a digital photo of your choice.
Only routine processing will be available at this time and your old passport will be deactivated, so you cannot travel with it while waiting for an online renewal. If you need faster service you can renew by mail using form DS-82 or get an appointment at the state department agencies.
Photos are going to be different as you can now send them a 600x600 or higher photo with a file size of 54 kb but no bigger than 10mb. Use a white or off white background. Only color photos are accepted (no black and white photos). No glasses or hats are allowed but head coverings are allowed for religious reasons. Oh and no filters or using digital tools to key out the background. Allow room in the photo so you can use their crop tool.
Other than that the process is similar to this video.
You cannot do any name and/or gender changes with this new service.

I did it on line on 12/13/22 today is 2/6/23 still waiting, my Mom did it by mail a week later, she got her passport 4 weeks ago.

@@jazminhiggins888 I had to call them...,and got my passport two days later after a phone call. I read some comments people apply at the same time frame as me still waiting.
I applied on line 1st week of Jan. 2023 and the status of my application currently only shows as “Received” on Jan 4th 2023. So just over 7 weeks now and not even in processed status yet. I call their help number to see if I can find out what’s going and their phone system gives me no option to speak to anyone. If anyone has had any success in speaking with an actual human being I’d really appreciate you sharing that info with me. I’m now wishing I’d have gone the mail in route 😡
Co workers had to go into emergency mode ! Call early times in the morning ! they had to run down to Tucson in a day for theirs ! 14 day international travel times !
@@robyg7037 I was finally able to talk to a human being about a week and a half ago, after being left on hold for over 4 hours. The woman I talked to told me my application was being processed even though the status on line only showed “Received”. As of now, 10 weeks later, I still don’t have my passport and the online status still only shows as being received. Fortunately I don’t need it until June but at this rate I’m thinking I might be lucky to even have it by then. It’s totally ridiculous.

@@Yallaintreadyfosho I wish you luck. It appears the IDEA of a fast efficient on-line process was a helluva lot better than the reality of it actually working. I should have known better. Our inept government agencies could barely run a lemonade stand let alone a passport office. The process not working is one thing but then having to wait for literally hours before you can even speak to anyone to try and get help is completely insane! At any rate I wish you good luck.

I applied for a Passport 4 months ago on January 12th. I haven’t received it and the post office gave me the tracking # for the application and says it was in transit in PA but then nothing…. The department of state said they don’t know where it is and I’ll have to apply again… what can I do!?
I applied by mail 12-29-22 for first-time passport books for my children 9 and 15 years of age. Today, we reached the 9 week mark. I am extremely nervous since we have plans to travel to Canada 3/24/23, and my application stutus is still "IN PROCESS." As a sole custodian parent, I submitted all supporting documents along with my application. I was wondering if the extra paperwork will impact the timeline of my application? And if there is anything I can do to expedite this process? Thank you.
Contact your congress person and/or senator but you can call 14 days before travel at preferably just before 8am est to get an agency appointment.

You can visit the passport agency with an appointment and proof of travel. If it is life or death you have to include that.

Right now you cannot renew your Passport online as the Department of State is working on implementing changes based on customer feedback.
My kid applied in person and got her passport within 6 weeks. I applied online and still no passport after 7 weeks. Should have applied it by mail.
Edit: finally got my online passport. It tooks 8 weeks for standard process. Don’t trust online status, it isn’t real time.

You can fill out a DS-64, and then fill out a DS-11 and present those with an in person appointment. Fill out as much as you can with those forms. Otherwise if it has expired you could just do a DS-11.
You will need a proof of citizenship, and proof of ID but you can also do a file search for $150 on top of the passport fees to look up that previous passport. Otherwise use a CRBA, birth certificate, Certificate of citizenship or Naturalization certificate.

You would have to renew in person at an acceptance facility or a passport agency. Both parents will need to be there but if one cannot make it you can supply them a notarized DS-3053. Child passports cannot be renewed online or by mail.

I applied online on January 28th. I can’t even log in online to check status and can’t seem to find a number where they pick up? I have a trip planned in 3 weeks. I paid extra for faster service too
If you can wait 1 week, you can contact the Department of State for Urgent service or Life of death if it is of an immediate family member/spouse. Appointments fill up fast so it is best to call right at 14 days of travel on a week day at just before 8 AM EST. Though you can keep calling to see if you can get an appointment. You might have to travel and bring proof of travel such as plane tickets, itinerary and so on.
Hi there! I have a question, I won green card and have immigrant visa valid until 15th of May. Now the issue is that I am currently working and finishings my contract by the end of February, which means I will leave for US in the beginning of March. in addition, I am a senior student of a Chinese University and I was doing my study online due to Covid-19, however now my University wants us back by first of April. Greencard holders are not required to have a greencard to depart the country....but you will need it to re-enter the US.

Question for anyone who can help:
I plan on going to Asia over Thanksgiving 2023 and my current passport expires in April 2024, so it won't be valid as it'll expire within 6 months.
I want to renew it right away, but I will be going to Mexico over the next few months for dental work.
I understand that in the US passport renewal process, I need to send my current passport back.
How do I avoid this? Surely there must be a way? I don't have a passport card and I wish I got one as I understand you can use a card in lieu of your passport at the Southern Border.
Maybe I just declare my passport missing and request a new one? Will that take longer than an expedited normal renewal?

Best way for you is to try and get an urgent travel appointment but expedited is 7-9 weeks. You might have time to do it expedited.
You can also add a passport card with your renewal by marking both and making sure that the check or money order is for both book and card + any expedited processing fees.

Can you use a smart phone photo vs cvs or Walgreens? Todays phones provide comparable photos do they not?
Smart Phone photo should work as long as it meets the requirements for the online renewal. There are CZcams videos that can teach you how to make a compliant photo.
Please anyone here applied for the online application to renew my passport well I submitted my online application last week and yet 5 days has gone and I haven’t received any email from them saying if they received my request or confirmation or try have reviewed my application yet , however when I signed in to my online account and I go to manage application the status showing the application submitted and the money took off of my credit card same day I applied ! However no email confirmation from them yet
Check your spam folder you should have received an email within 2 day stating that they received it. And when u login to your account it should show status as ' received'

Yes you can apply all together. USPS website does in fact allow you to do that. I have seen families at the post office getting their passports so it is indeed possible for everybody to apply all at once.
I did mine 20 days ago and waiting to receive it , i paid for expedited so i hope to get it next week , am traveling in march overseas

You can apply for urgent service and that should get you an appointment with proof of travel. Another option is to do mail in renewal with expedited processing and 1-2 day shipping.

My passport is expired over 15 years. Is it necessary to apply and bring my document to a "state dept agency" or do the usps and other appointed entities will do. Thank you.
You can apply at the post office using a DS-11. You can only go to an agency if you need to travel in the next two weeks or have a life or death emergency of an immediate family member or spouse. If you still have that old passport, you can use it as a proof of citizenship.

If you have proof of travel in the next two weeks you can get an appointment at the passport agency. It is a good idea to call them at 8 am est but multiple calls help. Might want to contact congress and/or senator and send them proof of travel plans. Include your proof of travel when at the agency.

Is she already in London with an American passport? Most countries will not let you in if you don't have at least 3-6 months left on your passport. If she's already there and returning home to the U.S., it might be ok. She can check with the airlines and U.S. Embassy.

I renewed mine and my husbands online…almost 4 weeks now and it still says “in process”. Bummed cause we needed them asap to book a cruise for March 😢…we went in person to do our kids and we’ve already received those. Have you heard any of anyone taking the full 5 weeks to process?? 3 to 5 weeks is the time for expedited, so you should have about a week but you can also contact Congress or senator and maybe they could help but no guarantees.
If your cruise starts is something like a Caribbean/Bahamian cruise then you can travel with birth certificate and an id such as a driver's license or state id card.

I applied online 1/8/23. Today is 2/28/23 and my application is still in process. I do not recommend applying online if you are expecting to travel soon. I also expedited everything. I have travel plans on 3/21/23. Any suggestions on what I should do?

You would need to schedule an appointment and renew in person using a DS-11. If you still have a previous passport that can serve as proof of citizenship. Child passports cannot be renewed by mail or online so I assume you previously had a 5 year or child passport.

You can renew by mail using a DS-82. Fill out a DS-82, and include a stapled compliant 2x2" photo, your expired passport and a check or money order to the U.S. Department of State for $130. Add $60 for Expedited Processing and/or $19.53 if you wish to have it shipped to you in 1-2 business days.

You will have to apply in person using a DS 11. You can fill out the form online using the form filler but no this is for adult passports and not child passports. Watch Maneeshas video on how to apply for a passport for a minor.

Hi same situation here. My Fiance renew his passport since last year February 2022 and until now February 2023 still no update and he went to post office they said still processing.
If it's processing at least they received paperwork. I would wait and if you can get a hold of customer service ask.
I have a question. If my passport was issued when i was 15 years old, (currently 22) do i renew or do i apply for a new passport? Also, im in Mexico and need to go to a US embassy to do this, but i dont want to make many trips to it, since its 5 hour away from where i live.
You will need to apply for a new Adult Passport in person at the Embassy as Child Passports cannot be renewed by mail or online.

Don't ever use online service. It has been almst 3 months since I applied online with the expedicted fee. Mine is still in-process. You will never be able to talk to anyone even though you call the number. I tried
Unless you already have a Passport card, you can only apply for a Passport book in person if you have never had one.before.

Hello ! I have a question I got my US citizenship last month’s and my kids a under 18 I am confused as what should I apply for my kids a US passport or a neturization certificate
Your children are in fact US Citizens so you can get them a Passport through INA 320. You can also apply for their Certificate of Citizenships by filling out the N-600 form. This would give them a Certificate of Citizenship which would prove that they are derived US citizens. I would get the Passport as it is easier to apply (N-600 can only be done once unless appealed) and it is a lot cheaper.

You will need to renew by mail as online is not working right now. I would follow the ds 82 form and include a compliant photo stapled to the application, check or money order for the right amount to the US department of state, and your passport.

You cannot renew passports online at this time, but you can renew them by mail using form DS-82 with a stapled compliant photo, your old 10 year passport issued in the last 15 years (5 year or CHILD passports cannot be renewed by mail), and a check or money order made payable to the U.S. Department of State for $130. Add $60 if you want it expedited and if you also want 1-2 day shipping add 19.53 to that.

Yes mail in renewals accept either check or money order though pay dot gov is also accepted for those living abroad.
