    I have one of the old-school deflection torque wrenches. Will that be accurate enough or should I get a click or digital style? Great camera work btw. Super clear. Do you have a video for changing the PCV valve (oil separator) for this vehicle?

    • @BradleysGarage
      @BradleysGarage  Před měsícem

      Thanks for the question Floyd, appreciate the feedback. The old school torque wrench will be perfectly fine for the doing the spark plugs. It doesn't have to be exactly perfect, the goal is to just not overtighten them.
      Changing the PCV (oil separator) at the same time as the plugs makes a lot of sense. Here is a great video from FCP Euro, where we get most of our Euro parts from.

      Thank you! I just purchased the oil separator yesterday from FCP Euro. So thankful for folks like you on YT making videos like this. Between the plugs and PCV I’ll save around $400 DIY.

    What are the specs on the spark plug spacing? Can you do more on this car specifically?
    Thanks for the video, would love to see more on this car. I’m currently having issues with misfiring. I changed the spark plugs and still having issues maybe it the spacing? If not I read it can be the MAP/MAF being dirty with carbon buildup. Would be amazing if you can do a video on cleaning the MAP/MAF and also a intake manifold replacement if possible 😅… I keep finding tutorials for engines before or after this model. It’s such a pain.

      Thanks for the question, pretty much all new spark plugs for a specific application come pre-gapped so there is no need to gap them. But if you would like to check, the factory gap setting for the 1.8 TSI is 0.032".
      Thanks for the suggestion, we will look into creating some additional content for the the 1.8 TSI Jetta in the future. I would suggest swapping a coil around to a good cylinder to see if the code follows the coil. It could be as simple as that causing your misfire code, especially if you are getting P0301 thru P0304 codes.
      Let us know how it goes with your VW project.
      Cheers!

      I’m getting codes for all 4 cylinders p0301 - p0304. My car actually turned off on my yesterday while driving. It’s driving me nuts. After a certain speed it’s like the problems go away, but when I come to a stop it starts rocking. And the EPC light goes on.

      @BradleysGarage  Před měsícem +1

      @@MrScarface18o It's very strange for the car to just shut off with these misfire codes. The EPC light comes on with active misfires to warn you that there is a reduction in power and obviously you can feel that in the way that it's running.
      Can you post all the codes you are currently getting? Any P0351 thru P0354 codes?
      You said you already changed all the spark plugs, correct? And you have used OEM plugs, either Bosch or NGK?
      It's very rare to have all the coils go bad at the same time. With all cylinders misfiring, it may be related to a fuel issue.
      How many miles currently on the Jetta?
      When was the last time you replaced the fuel filter?

      @@BradleysGarage my Jetta has about 112,000 miles and I just ran it again and I’m getting p0301-p0304 as well as p2251, p0016 and p05a0. I wasn’t getting these last three. But now I’m even more confused on what the issue can be. Also No I haven’t changed the fuel filter.

    What tools are required? I might have to buy some stuff. Also, is the plastic cover necessary to keep on the engine?

    • @BradleysGarage
      @BradleysGarage  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Thanks for the question, we posted all the tools needed in the description. The plastic cover is primarily cosmetic, it doesn't have to be present.

      Flathead screwdriver (small tip)

    • @BradleysGarage
      @BradleysGarage  Před měsícem +2

      Thanks for the question Evan, it is not necessary to disconnect the battery for Spark Plug replacement. These are not critical electronic components so there will not be any adverse effect.

    is a torque wrench necessary??

    • @BradleysGarage
      @BradleysGarage  Před 2 měsíci

      Thanks for the question, it's not necessary to have a torque wrench, it's just recommended. It will help prevent overtightening the spark plugs into the aluminum cylinder head.
      They are just a little past snug is what I call it. The most important thing is don't crank them down too much.
      Good luck on your VW project, Cheers!
