but the rail went really bad and the maintenance services don't do they job as they should."
7:40: "Here there's no bunk, we spent the night sitting down! with 3 persons on each side we could be aerated.
but there's 6 persons on the each side, so with 10 or 12 persons inside the cabin, the life conditions are pitiful."
8:09: "There's no place to put our luggage, that why we hang them somewhere.
The roof is torn and when it's the raining season, or when it's raining, it's really hard to be here."
8:35: My wife and i often take the train, here she is, and here is our baby, she gave birth while travelling on the train, our baby's name is Consolade _(in english: consoling)_ because he's consoling us from all of this."
9:02: "Walking here is complicated, especially with all those luggage, walking in here is really annoying"
9:21: When the train is moving sometime the bumpers open and when it close, it can easily cut your foot, and when it open largely, you can fall in between and you easily lose your life."
10:19: "It's forbidden to be up here, but we still climb anyway, we have to go to work even though we're risking our lives!
the rails are really bad, you feel the shakes? for 8 years i've travelled by train and i've faced many risks; the wagon derailed, peoples died.. i had like 8 accidents. anyway i'm not scared, if the wagon derail again, god will protect me."
11:00: "I fell on the rails, i almost died, i was lucky god protected me, because of god i'm here talking to you."
12:07: "I already got a branch in the eyes, it's dangerous to get these in the eyes. you could be one-eyed."
12:35: "Even the road, look at the road! this truck still trying to get in the villages! *[yells]* "Hey! driver! my brothers!""
13:51: "To drive on such road, you need a off road vehicle with good traction, if you drive a minivan in this mud, you'll be stuck and in trouble."
14:27: "Because of the road's conditions, here is solidarity between the drivers, we must help him out.
after we helped them later on we may breakdown of fuel or pop a tire as well, we must help each other before we continue our journey."
15:40: "There's a red flag"
15:58: "Hello sir, i stopped you my wife is sick please, she need a surgery - okay i'll take her"
16:43: "We're paid but not very good, we're paid with 80 months late.. or more.
We go to the field to find something to eat. we don't know where to go, if there was something, or somewhere we can find an opportunity, we had abandoned all of this"
17:52: "Look ahead! "snaking" begin! I had to slow down so we can pass safely, it does like a snake, that is "snaking".
When it's hot, the rails expands, as it expand it moves, especially when there's no ballasts. it's really dangerous if the "snaking" is accentuated, there is a risk we derail."
18:38: "The wagon derailed, peoples stacked luggage on the wagon, it was overloaded and derailed. that was the cause, it happened 6 months ago. It happen often because of the rails, the rail is not good at all, it's scary.. it's scary..."
19:29: "Something is slowing the train"
20:09: "Those traffickers, they cut this! between the wagon, you cut it the train stop because there's no vacuum, then someone have to reconnect the hose so we can continue."
21:02: "So, this is our toolbox ah, we have wrenches and measuring devices, we got some spare parts, this is an alternator. we got headlamps! to illuminate like car's headlamp at night.
To avoid the worst, we tow the machinery to the depot, like somebody we brought to the hospital."
22:24: "500.. 500" [...] "150 _(congolese francs)_ buy my soldering irons!!" [...] "500..500 *cough"
22:55: For us traffickers, not getting on this train is worse than being sick, this is our job!
We are like miners digging to extract the matter, we must be on this train! our kids go to school and eat because of this train!"
23:32: "Oee congolese peoples! i'm going to kinshasa, get on let's go!"
24:04 This is my wife 😗. i'm a well formed congolese.. There are people in these villages who can't find clothes, salt, oil. we the traffickers we help them!"

I have read in my geography lessons that DRC is one of the mineral rich , geographicaly diversed african nation. Yes its true, when i go through beautiful landscapes and the country has its unique flora and fauna. But i find the journeys especially on road and railwaysystems terrfic!. Whatever the struggle they have, the Congolese takes their pride with pleasnt smile on their faces.. I wish it could be better in the coming years..

I used to think that Kenya is a full busket of trouble and difficulties but after watching this documentary, and the other one (River Congo), I just realised that we're blessed if not with everything but with much more basic necessities to be proud of

I can Ensure you that I have already experienced this journey on COngo national Road 1, by truck, it was a very bad experience..........I was exposed under rain for around 4 hours on the top of a moving truck in the midst of a jungle.....kkk

After going all the way to these remote places and getting this incredible footage, the one thing you can't do is find an interpreter to help translate and add subtitles to the video? The lack of subtitles ruins what could have been a really good documentary.

Saya tidak bisa berfikir bagaimana seandainya saya menjadi mereka, apakah saya akan kuat atau menyerah karena kesulitan tersebut. Semoga Kongo segera diberi kemudahan infrastruktur dan segalanya. Kasihan melihat mereka seperti itu. Kondisi ini bahkan seperti bukan pada zaman sekarang, tapi seperti zaman 60'an di negara kami (yang bahkan tidak pernah saya alami).
