      Yes indeed! I did the FHT about 5 years ago and looking forward to getting back on a small section of it this fall when connecting a few of the passages.

    Great wrap up! I noticed you called it a "walk " more than you did a "hike" with all that road walking! My feet would be dying in my trail runners! So you got Rugged Mountain Momma to chuckle when you were getting frustrated about not being able to find your way through town. She was like... "tell us how you REALLY feel!" Looked like you about had enough with it! Then the best was when you went into the abandoned cottages.... Rugged Mountain Sister has probably watched one to many scary movies/TV shows because she was yelling... "NO DON'T GO IN THERE! THATS WHAT 'THEY' WANT YOU TO DO! Then proceeded to keep telling you to get out before you died! Hopefully the ending will be epic next year in the mountains!!

      You don’t even wanna know how I really felt ha ha! Those little shacks weren’t spooky at all during the day. My wife is really into abandon homes… we’ve never visited any but she watches it on CZcams and would if we found one. Yeah, after 15-20 miles of road my feet are usually pretty beat up especially when carrying a 20 pound pack. I wish I was able to go finish the mountain sections right now while it’s spring, but can’t get away from the farm so hopefully this fall, thanks Mark!

    Croft is pretty cool place. Along that Ridgeline where all those trails come in to that picnic table you can see some foundations of old buildings. They were part of the old army base that was there during WW 2.

    Great trip video bud! Even with all the road walking. That BBQ place looked like some much needed good food…looking at the cottages was awesome. Like DMSAdventures said though…that’s how horror movies start 😂

    I love your camo duplex. I just bought a Durston Xmid pro2 but the duplex was a very close second. If they still offered the duplex in camo I would have definitely went that route!

    • @jasonwish-
      @jasonwish-  Před měsícem

      I’m so glad I was able to get the camo! I’ve watched numerous videos on the Durston and I just don’t get the hype, seen like way too many cons for me… of course it has its benefits but nothing that sold me on it over the duplex, hopefully you’ll love it, especially with the big investment that it is.

    Enjoyed very much! I had thoughts of hiking from Jones Gap to Oconee. You're absolutely correct, they need to at least print a map that shows the exact passages. A very informative video!

    • @jasonwish-
      @jasonwish-  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! The maps of the other 30 passages are outstanding when used in conjunction with a Avenza app because you can see exactly where you’re at but the hub city connector was terrible trying to figure out where you were at. I’m really looking forward to the mountain passages, love that area, I did the foothills Trail about 5 years ago.

    Hey those were migrant houses on contract rd on the peach passage of the palmetto trail. Gramling brothers used them to pick peaches back in the day.

    Great video! I dislike most meal bags so use a nice one for my first meal and the rest of the meals I have repackaged in sandwich size ziplocks and write the name and water qty on the bag. Way less trash that way and lighter.

    • @jasonwish-
      @jasonwish-  Před 3 měsíci

      Thanks Steve! When I do my FKTs I repack everything into Ziploc bags, but when I know I can hang a resupply and only have to carry three days of food at a time I usually just keep it in the original packaging. I really enjoy peak refuel, pinnacle foods, and that other company that had the lamb Borg yawn, those are really good!

      I will be, but unfortunately the colonel won’t join me for any trips anymore…he hasn’t kayaked in over two years and has turned me down on the last 6 or 7 opportunities to kayak, hike or camp. 😩

    Jason have you ever done any section hiking on the AT? You seem to spend a lot of time in the areas close to where that trail runs.

    • @jasonwish-
      @jasonwish-  Před 3 měsíci

      I did a day hike on a section of it in the Shenandoah’s and two nights on it when hiking the Virginia Triple Crown dragons tooth and McAfee knob. I might through hike it sometime in the next five years, once I find a successor to my farming operation because I just can’t get away during summer. I will most likely be going Sobo starting in August and finish in December.

    • @jasonwish-
      @jasonwish-  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I have not been to Alaska and don’t really have a desire to right now but maybe in the next 10 or 15 years. I have been in Niagara Falls when I was young, but that’s the only time I’ve been. I would like to do some backpacking and kayak camping and rv camping in Canada eventually.

      @jasonwish- right it was where they were parking near the side of the road and you said they just sat there staring at there phones. I think you were baffled as it was just a side road with a view of nothing. Signs said day time parking only as I kept watching it might of been near a college. Ya it's an old video.
