Yeah the only thing that kept him from immediately ending the fight was the fact that he saw it as his mother so he didn’t attack correctly. This movie had so many moments of jokes actually ending up mattering.

The CGI artists definitely had their fun in this movie. For example, the text cards almost felt like they had a personality of their own, it's really unique imo.
James Gunn mentioned that the only reason he included Polka-dot Man was because while he was browsing internet he saw a list of dumbest/most useless superheroes and he was number 1 on that list and he thought that was pretty funny so he included him.

**SPOILERS** I mean, King Shark didn't do much to affect the mission, but the mission isn't really the ultimate point. The characters were the focus and he was one of the most simply yet well-developed and endearing characters in the film. All of the characters came to genuinely care for one another and it started with Ratcatcher II and Nanaue. Even Peacemaker cared, he was just a psychopath with a singular focus. It's sad to watch the movie again and see the little moments he has with Flag and Cleo and then to see him kill one and try to murder the other. Anyway, Nanaue was not mission critical, but he affected the audience and the other characters in a big way. Same goes for Polka Dot Man. If not for him, who would have shed a tear for Milton?
I think king shark was there because of plot reason. Because early on in the movie Amanda Waller said that king shark was the strongest one out a of the group so I guess they just left him in there. And they were right too because king shark wasn’t phased by 30 soldiers shooting their rifles point plank at him
I think King Shark did help but it wasn’t pure strength that was his ability it was more the intimidation factor. Like whenever they were surrounded by a bunch of guys he’d eat one and they’d all run away.

Polkadots Man actually disintegrated a huge chunk of Starro's "leg". If he wasn't crazy and celebrated too early, he could've just spammed his dots and kill Starro. He's also the one responsible for Starro breaking out too early. If he didn’t panicked and shot the bomb, Rat Catcher could've warned them about Starro and they could've made a plan to contain and kill him.
I think that was the reason for him dying. It was pretty predictable for Polkadot to kill Starro. They were building up how strong he actually was through out the movie, just to make you surprised when he died.
The humor in this movie was surprisingly solid. My favorite joke was definitely this exchange between Ratcatcher and Thinker: "...do you want a dozen rats crawling up your ass?" "My answer might not be what you expect."
Polka-Dot Man was extremely useful, if he hadn't accidentally prematurely set off the bombs with his Polkadots powers, then Bloodsport wouldn't have been able to crash down saving Rat Catcher 2, and if Ratcatcher 2 got killed by Peacemaker then Starro would have never been defeated. I rest my case your honour..
But I counter, the whole reason Ratcatcher was running from Peacemaker was BECAUSE Polka-Dot Man set off the bombs early. Thinker literally says “the morons set them off early”.

Tbh I hated this movie, wasn’t invested and found only some of the jokes funny. Even the action scenes bothered me. All the enemies just stood there waiting to die and noticing nothing and when they did notice things they just stood there on pause. But I loved this line for starro, it really put his situation into perspective.
@@luga8079 that is true! Main characters looked undeniably badass, they choreographed the actors movements well but didn’t offer the same attention to the stuntmen I guess. Though I have no complaints about the major fight between Rick Flag and (spoiler). That one was done beautifully and it was cool.
I really like how there's subtle references to the comics aside from the obvious ones in the movie. Harley Quinn's fight scene with the flowers and the cartoons is a reference to the older comics where it explains she literally doesn't see anything wrong with violence/killing people because she just sees birds or happy stuff on top of the blood. Also kudos to Captain Boomerang finally actually using his boomerang as a boomerang and not just slicing people with it in the first Suicide Squad film.
Honestly, for what the movie is 80% seems more fair but I don't blame Charlie because of how low the bar was set in the last fil., the last act is very meh. Honestly the big bad guy in the movie looks like something you would see in Doom Patrol, a Doom Patrol level threat.
James Gunn has a way of making characters with not many lines into fan favorites. Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy. In The Suicide Squad, King Shark, Sebastian the Rat, and even Weasel are all extremely fun and memorable.

The starfish actually didn’t grow the leg back, it just rolled over to stand on a different set of arms. You can see the cut leg when it’s falling over after it’s defeat.

I think the real thing this movie accomplished is actually giving the audience a reason to worry about the characters and get invested in the action. The characters are not only likable but the fact that any of them can realistically die at any moment makes the whole experience more intense and gripping. It's been a long time since Hollywood has made a movie like this.
I am actually happy that, there were heroes that were "useless". It makes it more relatable. In every action movie, everyone has to either die or have some bigger purpose. SO having someone "useless" is just a nice touch from the real world. Because nothing goes exactly to a plan. So from me, thats a plus.

No, The Characters in the beginning are there to show you that this is the “Suicide” Squad, and when Savant sees everyone dying, he runs away and get activated and killed. This is just a better way of showing the viewers what happens if they don’t comply. An honestly better explanation and showing than the first movie.
Milton is a great guy. Dude tagged them along unofficially and took the term Suicide Squad literally. And agreed on the comedic nature. It didn't feel forced thankfully. DC should just focus on making great self-contained movies without worrying about connecting it to a larger shared universe. I'd like to see more stuff like Joker and Shazam telling great stories without concern for how they relate to one another. Same goes for the new Batman movie. I don't care if Robert Pattinson will meet Phoenix's Joker in a future movie. Just tell a great story that stands on its own. That's what WB should focus on.

polka dot man, king shark, and ratcatcher 2 were the fucking stars of this film. i loved their characters so much and they filled their roles perfectly. rick flag was definitely an honorable mention tho
i feel like rick flag did nothing this film, i really liked the previous suicide squad and it seemed like he did a lot more than in this one. he seemed like a whole different character to me.

Tbf, Polkadot Man set the bombs off early and sparked the whole climax. And he got his redemptive moment of FEELING like a hero before dying uselessly. I think that was Gunn's idea of an affectionate punchline for a character only added for fun.
He gave him a lot of character with what little he had to work with. Its a good thing he wasn't relegated to anything less and was given a character arc
@@simuna6921 his character arc was dealing with his mom and instead of his backstory playing, Gunn substituted that in with having his mom pop up instead of the targets from his eyes. I think it was clever and what made suicide squad (2016) not the same going thru and explaining everyone. He used flashbacks differently and instead of telling a characters past, he went back to see other perspectives, so instead of using one simple easy way to show off everyone, he instead finds creative little ways to add more dynamic. Polka dot man imo had that baby griot innocence but proving he was still strong just like baby groot did. I’d rate it high 90s. Best dc film up to date, and beats out most MCU ones too.

I would of liked to see Polkadot man do a little more especially with his polkadots that were pretty powerful. Kudos to James Gunn for making polkadot man a viable interesting character,who would of ever thought. I was surprised at how much I liked Bloodsport and Ratcatcher 2,they along with Cena were great and I liked this Harley better than any other previous ones from her other movies. This was a fun, entertaining movie.

This movie is great, but it does give you that post-nut clarity feel of "what did I just watch" after having an emotional moment about a girl that controls rats who misses her friend that vomits polka dots and uses them as weapons

I was seriously disappointed that hapf the characters died in the opening scene, but I feel like they used that to show how brutal waller was and to set the scene for what the suicide squad is. They almost implied that she knew about what blackguard did and used the weaker members to distract the army so the strongest soldiers could make it into corto maltese. I was pissed that polka dot man died though

Sorry, Charlie, your idea for a mother who gives birth to theirself, and passes knowledge down to their daughter has already been done by Jim Butcher in the Dresden Files series. The characters name is The Archive because they contain the combined knowledge of dozens of generations of the same person.
There's also this X-Men character that has the power to be reborn once again in her past every time she dies but with all of her memories, so she can in theory live endless timelines if she wants.
Honestly, I think that the addition of Polka Dot and his subsequent death was a great way to subvert our expectations. Like, he was seriously OP. The fact that Ratcatcher, with some help, who is arguably a character whose superpowers seem pretty weak was in the end the one who won the battle was really interesting. Without Polka Dot's initial attack against Starro, I don't think that the strength difference would be so obvious. As for Nanaue, he cute, me like.
Charlie for your idea of an old lady giving birth to her self, it has already been made in a manga called "Omoide Emanon", its a story about a girl named Emanon that lives forever by giving birth to her self continuesly and retaining the memories of her past life. If your free I definitely recommend giving it a read.
Poka dot man had his moment of purpose. He denigrated Staros leg and was finally a real super hero doing good. And ik that’s basically all the suicide squad members but his feels more real cuz his mom was just not good person that didn’t care about her children.
He also blew up the building for a plot point. And yeah I think he helps hammer home the message of bad guy redemption/what do we even define as a bad person and the morality of jail and persecution for life
Yeah Polka Dot man taking out Starro's leg is the only reason they were able to gang up on him. Otherwise he would have just kept moving and rampaging through the city

And to think that Disney fired James Gunn over some jokes people didn't like. He made Guardians of the Galaxy what it is. I'm glad people stood up for him and made Disney change their mind.

I loved that scene with Harley killing all those guys. She was like John Wick lol... loved King Shark too he was great in every scene he was in. Also the story was pretty good and I really liked how that one character gets knocked down a peg at the end. SPOILERS: I agree on King Shark but Polka Dot Man actually wounded Starro enough to give the others time to kill it, and I suppose King Shark did to but to a far lesser degree (only Polka was effective melting Starro's leg like that causing it so much pain it stopped doing anything else for a bit).

And the difference with this scene is that those military guards are genuinely bad people, they literally hanged an entire family in front of the public. Even when Harley killed the president guy, she pointed out that killing kids was plain immoral. Also, fan service has quite literally lost all meaning due to your comment.
harley quinn scene with the flowers was beautiful. also the use of reflections, like at the start with the old guy in the puddle or the fight between the commander and peacemaker in bloodsports helmet
3:25 That moment in the movie was to 1. Show Waller pretty much always has ulterior motives by sending in one team as a distraction from the actual team, which kinda loosely sets up the twist with Peacemaker's personal task later in the movie. 2. Demonstrate how expendable the Suicide Squad members are. 3. Shock the audience and set the tone for the movie.
Polka Dot Man caused the tower to crash early, which is why Flag, Thinker, and (kinda) peacekeeper die. This also causes starro to escape. He did arguably the most important thing in the movie
James Gunn can write and direct his ass off. His stuff with marvel was fantastic and I don’t think he’s doing anything else with them after gotg 3. if DC can have him jump on board more down the road that could really help them moving forward as well. 🥳

A guy who could smell the future could actually be used in some pretty interesting situations. The power is vague enough that there would be suspense from the lack of clarity in the prediction. Like, he could walk into a building and smell ash and smoke and be like “you guys smell that?” Later the building would catch fire his power gave him just enough warning to save the team. He could meet someone and smell the stench of rotting flesh on them and suspect they were going to be killed soon. Maybe he’d meet someone and smell blood and gunpowder from them. He’d think “I gotta save this guy from being shot” but the twist would be that guy was actually the murdered and the one who shot the gun and got others blood splattered on him. That power could actually be pretty interesting.
There was a FANTASTIC deleted scene with polka dot man and thinker, which explains why Thinker's ear was wrapped up in later scenes. It added so much to both their characters and gave polka dot man so much more depth, I don't know why they cut it.

Yeah the only thing that kept him from immediately ending the fight was the fact that he saw it as his mother so he didn’t attack correctly. This movie had so many moments of jokes actually ending up mattering.

I mean, King Shark didn't do much to affect the mission, but the mission isn't really the ultimate point. The characters were the focus and he was one of the most simply yet well-developed and endearing characters in the film. All of the characters came to genuinely care for one another and it started with Ratcatcher II and Nanaue. Even Peacemaker cared, he was just a psychopath with a singular focus. It's sad to watch the movie again and see the little moments he has with Flag and Cleo and then to see him kill one and try to murder the other. Anyway, Nanaue was not mission critical, but he affected the audience and the other characters in a big way. Same goes for Polka Dot Man. If not for him, who would have shed a tear for Milton?
I think king shark was there because of plot reason. Because early on in the movie Amanda Waller said that king shark was the strongest one out a of the group so I guess they just left him in there. And they were right too because king shark wasn’t phased by 30 soldiers shooting their rifles point plank at him

Polkadots Man actually disintegrated a huge chunk of Starro's "leg".
If he wasn't crazy and celebrated too early, he could've just spammed his dots and kill Starro.
He's also the one responsible for Starro breaking out too early. If he didn’t panicked and shot the bomb, Rat Catcher could've warned them about Starro and they could've made a plan to contain and kill him.

Polka-Dot Man was extremely useful, if he hadn't accidentally prematurely set off the bombs with his Polkadots powers, then Bloodsport wouldn't have been able to crash down saving Rat Catcher 2, and if Ratcatcher 2 got killed by Peacemaker then Starro would have never been defeated. I rest my case your honour..
But I counter, the whole reason Ratcatcher was running from Peacemaker was BECAUSE Polka-Dot Man set off the bombs early. Thinker literally says “the morons set them off early”.

I really like how there's subtle references to the comics aside from the obvious ones in the movie. Harley Quinn's fight scene with the flowers and the cartoons is a reference to the older comics where it explains she literally doesn't see anything wrong with violence/killing people because she just sees birds or happy stuff on top of the blood.
Also kudos to Captain Boomerang finally actually using his boomerang as a boomerang and not just slicing people with it in the first Suicide Squad film.

I think the real thing this movie accomplished is actually giving the audience a reason to worry about the characters and get invested in the action. The characters are not only likable but the fact that any of them can realistically die at any moment makes the whole experience more intense and gripping. It's been a long time since Hollywood has made a movie like this.
I am actually happy that, there were heroes that were "useless". It makes it more relatable. In every action movie, everyone has to either die or have some bigger purpose. SO having someone "useless" is just a nice touch from the real world. Because nothing goes exactly to a plan. So from me, thats a plus.

No, The Characters in the beginning are there to show you that this is the “Suicide” Squad, and when Savant sees everyone dying, he runs away and get activated and killed. This is just a better way of showing the viewers what happens if they don’t comply. An honestly better explanation and showing than the first movie.

I don't care if Robert Pattinson will meet Phoenix's Joker in a future movie. Just tell a great story that stands on its own. That's what WB should focus on.

Respect to Charlie for accepting that the old suicide squad movie was bad even though he started in it as the Joker
Tbf, Polkadot Man set the bombs off early and sparked the whole climax. And he got his redemptive moment of FEELING like a hero before dying uselessly. I think that was Gunn's idea of an affectionate punchline for a character only added for fun.
He gave him a lot of character with what little he had to work with. Its a good thing he wasn't relegated to anything less and was given a character arc
@@simuna6921 his character arc was dealing with his mom and instead of his backstory playing, Gunn substituted that in with having his mom pop up instead of the targets from his eyes. I think it was clever and what made suicide squad (2016) not the same going thru and explaining everyone. He used flashbacks differently and instead of telling a characters past, he went back to see other perspectives, so instead of using one simple easy way to show off everyone, he instead finds creative little ways to add more dynamic. Polka dot man imo had that baby griot innocence but proving he was still strong just like baby groot did. I’d rate it high 90s. Best dc film up to date, and beats out most MCU ones too.

I would of liked to see Polkadot man do a little more especially with his polkadots that were pretty powerful. Kudos to James Gunn for making polkadot man a viable interesting character,who would of ever thought. I was surprised at how much I liked Bloodsport and Ratcatcher 2,they along with Cena were great and I liked this Harley better than any other previous ones from her other movies. This was a fun, entertaining movie.

I was seriously disappointed that hapf the characters died in the opening scene, but I feel like they used that to show how brutal waller was and to set the scene for what the suicide squad is. They almost implied that she knew about what blackguard did and used the weaker members to distract the army so the strongest soldiers could make it into corto maltese. Honestly, I think that the addition of Polka Dot and his subsequent death was a great way to subvert our expectations. Like, he was seriously OP. The fact that Ratcatcher, with some help, who is arguably a character whose superpowers seem pretty weak was in the end the one who won the battle was really interesting. Without Polka Dot's initial attack against Starro, I don't think that the strength difference would be so obvious.
As for Nanaue, he cute, me like.
Charlie for your idea of an old lady giving birth to her self, it has already been made in a manga called "Omoide Emanon", its a story about a girl named Emanon that lives forever by giving birth to her self continuesly and retaining the memories of her past life.
If your free I definitely recommend giving it a read.
Poka dot man had his moment of purpose. He denigrated Staros leg and was finally a real super hero doing good. And ik that’s basically all the suicide squad members but his feels more real cuz his mom was just not good person that didn’t care about her children.
He also blew up the building for a plot point. And yeah I think he helps hammer home the message of bad guy redemption/what do we even define as a bad person and the morality of jail and persecution for life
Yeah Polka Dot man taking out Starro's leg is the only reason they were able to gang up on him. Otherwise he would have just kept moving and rampaging through the city

And to think that Disney fired James Gunn over some jokes people didn't like. He made Guardians of the Galaxy what it is. I'm glad people stood up for him and made Disney change their mind.

I loved that scene with Harley killing all those guys. She was like John Wick lol... loved King Shark too he was great in every scene he was in. Also the story was pretty good and I really liked how that one character gets knocked down a peg at the end.

I agree on King Shark but Polka Dot Man actually wounded Starro enough to give the others time to kill it, and I suppose King Shark did to but to a far lesser degree (only Polka was effective melting Starro's leg like that causing it so much pain it stopped doing anything else for a bit).

Polka Dot Man caused the tower to crash early, which is why Flag, Thinker, and (kinda) peacekeeper die. This also causes starro to escape. He did arguably the most important thing in the movie

A guy who could smell the future could actually be used in some pretty interesting situations. The power is vague enough that there would be suspense from the lack of clarity in the prediction.
Like, he could walk into a building and smell ash and smoke and be like “you guys smell that?” Later the building would catch fire his power gave him just enough warning to save the team.
He could meet someone and smell the stench of rotting flesh on them and suspect they were going to be killed soon.
Maybe he’d meet someone and smell blood and gunpowder from them. He’d think “I gotta save this guy from being shot” but the twist would be that guy was actually the murdered and the one who shot the gun and got others blood splattered on him.
That power could actually be pretty interesting.

There was a FANTASTIC deleted scene with polka dot man and thinker, which explains why Thinker's ear was wrapped up in later scenes. It added so much to both their characters and gave polka dot man so much more depth, I don't know why they cut it.
The first 15 minutes blew my mind how they recasted people and just murdered some of them straight out.
I agreed with all the deaths but The Only deaths I dont agree with is CB... Could've at least give Him a Better death scene
