    I once found a ticket on the floor of my parents room and I thought they were going to buy me a carnival ride. I understand the obsession. And TY once again fer the Bayern Kurve update. That made my year! (cue air horn!)

    I honestly had forgotten just how much work you've put into this project! Thanks for the great recap!

      I looked back on this thinking “damn this project is taking too long” but then I started to remember all the little diversions- having to make tools or fix tools to continue with the restoration or experimenting with new techniques and I see where the time went.

    Pete, it blows me away how you have managed to take on a project that is really oversized for your equipment, yet somehow manage to overcome. Excellent year and excellent job!

      @@PeteRondeau I haven't seen him mention this visit. He does sometimes include such coverage in his Odds & Ends videos. If he does, prepare for your subs to jump!

      @PeteRondeau  Před 2 lety

      Lol I don’t really expect him to mention it. There is no video of it beyond what I included here from my phone and it was just a blip in his day. He did give me a great tour around the museum grounds and a nice visit to his shop. (It looks just like it does on CZcams - lol)

    What about using two cone bearings instead of a brass bushing? Would outlast a bushing. Just a thought. Your the chief.

      You aren't wrong but there is an underlying issue when working on carnival rides. There are limitations to what you are allowed to change if you ever think it will be used for the general public. Things like lighting and cosmetics you are free to do what you want with. But when it comes to re-engineering parts of the ride you have to follow the manufacturers service bulletins. For rides where the manufacturer is out of business you have to find an engineer who is willing to sign off on the change. Different states have different levels of strictness so it is a combination of the state rules and what the insurance companies will insure.

    Wow. So glad I stumbled into this channel. Pete you remind me so much of my dad. His name is Peter also which is funny. You are so incredibly talented and intelligent at many different things. My dad is like that just understands the mechanics of things and loves to take things apart and fix them its so interesting to watch you take this ride apart and completely fix and refurbish everything. When I saw the playlist I figured you probably would paint it and polish couple things, I had no idea how far in depth this would go. I wish I got that mechanical knowledge from my dad. Im not good with tools like you guys but wow im looking forward to seeing the journey the rest of the way. Amazing job so far! What do you do for work? Seemed like something in engineering to me and with the way you designed some of your own tools and things...

      I do industrial automation. Building automated saws for cutting wood, non-ferrous metals, or composite materials. It is a small company so I wear a lot of hats. I write software, do electrical wiring, go out and install machines and train the operators how to run them. Thanks for watching!
