    I'm amazed at how well dead sticking is working in Oklahoma. In CO and AZ it doesn't seem to work. Good video!

      Interesting. Around here when water temps get below 55 or so you can start Deadsticking. Typically above that you won’t catch much Deadsticking unless you are drifting really fast, but then I’d call that trolling. Ha. Are there many hybrid bass stocked in Colorado and Arizona?

      @@BooneBoys In AZ we have stripers. In CO they stock hybrids in some of the lakes mainly to the east.

    Thumpers and splashers are the way to go! I never had or tried a thumper, but if I didn't have my splasher, I wouldn't catch half of the fish I catch.

      Hey Michael. Thanks a lot for watching our videos. We use Shimano Calcutta 400’s. I bought every one used on eBay. Before covid you could pick them up for $90 on eBay, but now it’s hard to see one for under $150. I like using all the same reels because I can use one reel for spare parts. I think the Catala or Cardiff would do just fine for our type of fishing and are much cheaper.

    Love your channel. Trying to watch all the videos. So in our lake, they are most sandy and hybrid. What jig and fluke size do you recommend, for all year round? 0.5 oz + 3.5" fluke? or even 3/8 oz + 3" swimbait? What if for live bait? what size of circular hook? The size of shad will be finger length shad? Thank you.

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  Před rokem

      @Lava T so we only use jig and flukes to deadstick from November to Feb. we use 1oz-1.5oz and 5” Flukes. We’ve started switching to another brand, ZMan Jerk Shadz. They are lasting way longer. After deadstick we use live Shad with 2/0 octopus circle hooks.
      Thanks for reaching out and watching our videos.

      This lake was 47, but it’s only 21’ or so deep and it completely froze over during that Christmas freeze, but it’s so shallow it warms back up quick. Normally around here they won’t get below 40 degrees. Thanks for watching our videos!

    Good video bud. Do you keep your thumper down in a hatch or just on the deck somewhere ? I'm headed to Texoma Monday and hoping for some big stripers.

      Thanks Mike. We keep it under in a hatch. It seems to make a little different noise inside a hatch. Good luck at Texoma. I want to head out there next month. Let me know how you do, I see some big fish being caught Deadsticking. Looks like it’s the perfect time right now.

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  Před rokem +1

      Thanks Norm. I’m not that guy that does by a certain line, but I get mine from Amazon, my yellow line is 50lb KastKing braid, and the smaller reels use 20-25lb KastKing or PowerPro braid. Typically I don’t see a difference how one works better than the other. Live bait fishing I do think Flourocarbon leader is better, but Deadsticking not sure it might hurt a little, if you were fishing solo and not worried about tangle ups then maybe go flouro, but another thing to consider while Deadsticking is the bite is so light, braid definitely let’s you feel more bites. I’ve fished with guys where they aren’t catching any just because they can’t feel the bite and I can. Almost like crappie fishing.

    Love your guys content, I’m scratching my head what do you look for in order to find or target or hybrid I’m out by lake thunderbird

    • @BooneBoys
      @BooneBoys  Před rokem

      Thanks for watching our videos! I haven’t fished Thunderbird in years but I heard they stocked it with hybrid bass. Usually you will see them in groups but more spread out than whitebass. White bass look tight together on sidescan and on sonar they layer up from the bottom. Hybrid bass usually hug tight to the bottom and can be mistaken for catfish and drum. Best way to figure out a lake is with live Shad that everything eats and see what’s there. If your hybrid bass are small it’s more difficult to distinguish them from white bass and small catfish.

    • @ethonbell5181
      @ethonbell5181 Před rokem +1

      @@BooneBoys is this pattern pretty consistent all year would it be safe to say that the white bass or hybrid stay close to the bottom all year around?
