I have two parakeets I whistle bird sounds to them I know that's odd. I find that when they blink at you really slow and close their eyes slowly it's a sign of trust and I've noticed that the behavior has shown more trust and they look you in the eyes it's really cool. I like that you mentioned nonverbal communication as well

I have a book I wrote on basic biological or biolinguistic communication and emulation of animals. On my channel I have a Black Capped Chickadee tutorial. I call it bio whistling and I think whistling does have a large part to it as it does in beatboxing for certain humming and beatboxing synth sounds. I like the breaking it down into specific species.

I also found that the cuckoo bird sounds very very similar to a cuckoo clock. I've been a beatboxer for a very long time including since I was a kid making emulations of sound effects. And I began actual percussion and instrumentation sounds when I was in college in 2004. In 2012 I started to take a paradigm shift that beatboxing could be more than just entertainment but could be used for practical purposes. Mine started with Crow calling and Canadian toads and other birds. This is really encouraging man. I felt like people have just don't get it. I believe that we as humans can be poly linguistic or many languages as it comes to animals. Animals don't use abstract thought the way we do but for their basic needs I believe we can tap into some of that with our vocal capabilities. Thank you!

Many birds have songs which are very easy - chickadees and some sparrows (white-throated for example), while others take a LOT of work, lol. That said, most of them can be learned by almost anyone with a bit (or a lot) of practice.
