    I discovered slings and EDC recently and purchased the Aer Day Sling 3 after looking at several options in advance of a 15 day trip to Italy. We are in the final 5 days and totally sold on both using a sling and this product. Worked great as a personal item on my flight carrying everything I needed including my iPad Mini. Moving between cities on trains, at a Bruce Springsteen concert, and walking around Florence and Rome zero issues and with enough space for random small purchases during the day.

    I was waiting for this video last month :). But I ended up buying both and decided on the Aer DS3. The extra space for almost the same price (I got the XPAC version) won me over. I took this on my trip to Hawaii and it was perfect. Both are great though and as my first sling ever im happy I went with the Aer one

      @@user-we9qh6hw9u For me, nope. I don't want zippers that are harder to open with one hand. The orange liner is too sharp and eye catching, drawing attention every time you open your bag. I carry and umbrella when it rains so nothing gets wet. 1680d with DWR coating should be able to repel some light rain if you are caught in it, the water should roll off if the coating is still intact.

    I LOVE my Aer Day Sling 3. It’s perfect for my EDC needs. It can even fit an iPad Mini 6. It is stylish, discreet, and has a more formal look. I wouldn’t feel out of place bringing it to a business meeting or semi-formal dinner. The 2.5 Bellroy definitely is more ‘outdoorsy’. But for me it’d be a bit limited on space. I have the Bellroy 9L for when I need to carry more stuff.

    It's absolutely a user experience thing, I don't know how you handle your slings but I have at least 5 different slings with fidlock/maglockz buckles and not once have they come undone. Never ever. I'm perhaps really careful with that sort of thing but not that much as to always be checking I'm not accidentally pulling them. I just do my usual EDC stuff and they have worked just fine. The small Bellroy ones feel a bit more flimsy tbh but still work quite good for my personal user experience. In my eyes magnetic buckles are amazing on slings, just gotta get used but I understand the level of peace of mind that a traditional sturdy buckle provides but.... Magnets!!!

  • @rossipremier
    @rossipremier Před 2 měsíci

    It's amazing they are only .5L apart...the AER seems to have so much more usable internal space in the main pocket. Not sure I need the extra space tho, would love to get a water bottle inside the sling rather than holding it or clipped to the strap..but it usually kills all the internal pockets once a bottle is inside any sling unless it's huge.
    Both rear pockets seem even. The front pocket goes to Bellroy with that divider which is nice. I've narrowed it down to exactly these two slings so I guess it's time to order them and try first hand and return the other.

  • @Chinookman
    @Chinookman Před 2 měsíci

    Pocket overflow for me. Slings are 100% about what you need to carry in your use case as one of my favorite sayings is: "Nature abhors a vacuum". This is especially true when you have more space than you really need. You will fill it and do so with stuff you really don't need to be lugging around wherever it is you're going. My example of this is my Davek mini umbrella. If I have a bag that's "too big" I will carry the umbrella - all of the time, rather than when called for by weather. Another organization or carry mantra I use is the 95/5 rule. I try to only carry the 5% of items I use 95% of the time. So for me I'm looking in the size category of the Bellroy Venture Ready or even smaller. I'm really trying to get all my crap together that I need to carry and then get the smallest sling I can get away with. I'm looking for an EDC, pocket overflow (no ipad mini, no phone, etc.) use case, which really means home to car, car to activities, back to car, back to home. I can keep the umbrella in the car 95% of the time, only carry if there's a rain forecast. But I can't throw that into every sling out there. Great review, helped me eliminate the AER Day Sling 3 as just too large for me.

    I bought the Bellroy Venture Ready 2.5L, even though I don't like the glossy zipper (I really don't understand why Bellroy uses a glossy zipper, it looks cheap on their otherwise stylish design). So, I opted for the Ranger Green color, which has a non-glossy zipper unlike the other colors. I'm quite pleased with my choice; the sling is very compact and lightweight, just enough for me to carry daily essentials without needing a larger sling, preventing me from carrying more than necessary 🤣

    I like both a lot, personally I use the Venture Ready Sling everyday and love the organization and smaller footprint. It’s perfect for my everyday commute. I carry inside it both of my phones, wallet, cash, AirPods, car keys. I’d like to buy de AER Day Sling for stuff like my iPad mini or Nintendo Switch, I think the Venture Ready Sling is amazing for carrying only your essentials and the AER your everyday essentials plus a little bit more.
    I think the Aer can be amazing for traveling because you carry a few extra things, just like power banks and extra stuff. I’m currently using the Bellroy Lite Sling for traveling but I hate the lack of organization.

    Can that 2.5L bag really carry enough weight to make that collapsing mechanism useful or even function? I don't think so. And again too much materials used in the Bellroy. That extra strap material looped over the sides for the compression gimmick is just annoying. It makes it look and feel cluttered and busy and can for sure cause a lot of snagging accidents.

      @AA-17- Před 7 měsíci

      I've owned the 6l and 9l for ages and have never snagged on anything. The compression on those sizes is really useful and keeps the sling close to your body. I can't speak for the 2.5l because I don't need a chunky divider for my phone.
